With the change to Storm of Fire (now giving a unit within 12" rending every turn, rather than the 1 use twin-link) on Tiggy, are people thinking of new ways to do the old Centstar?

I am thinking of a second pod with some assault cents for the twinlinked rending flamers.

He is still good accompaning the Grav Centurion. You have the new Devastator Doctrine for the reroll. And the ture valuable thing Tigirius can grant to a Cent star is the psychic buff of ignore cover and 4++. Former help to kill that WK with only a toe touching ruin. The latter is the only way to help them survive a Mawloc attack from beneth. Sure now other Libby can roll on divination now, but Tiggy can almost double your chance in getting these two powers.

I had always thought he was more for the invisibility. Anybody can get the 4++, but tiggy is one of the few who can reasonably reliably get invisibility. For me that meant larger squads of Cent stars. The new format will be min groups of 3 due to drop pods (or so I assume). But with the change of Storm of fire, I think a second backup squad to rend the target will be a standard tactic.

Is anybody else thinking of what to drop in next to the cents to make use of the rending?

I think squadroning 2 Thunderfire cannons and giving the TF Rending would be pretty cool.

If so, that is pretty dirt cheap for pie plates of shred and rending, ignore cover and indirect fire.

Uhh. love it. I am pretty excited for the new WW formation. With rending it just gets mean. But is formation with 3 WW better than 2 TFC with rending - 3 pieplates with rending and cool stuff, or 8 pieplates with rending?

Prescience and this 3 Thunderfire Cannons, because just in case. Watch an enemy unit of anything disappear.

Tiggy + TFC w/ Divination excites me most. Taken as part of a Librarius Conclave, 2+ re-rolling psychic tests to set up 12 small blasts re-rolling scatter with rending a turn is nasty.

I'd rather have it on the whirlwinds. The indirect fire means you can control wound allocation much better sniping out key members of a death star.

Can Whirlwinds indirect fire in a manner that TFCs can't? To my knowledge both are barrage platforms capable of the same. It's the difference between three large blasts with shred at S4(5?) or twelve small blasts at variable strength/rules.

I am liking shred though.

There is never a reason to take whirl winds over thunder fire canons. The canons are WAY more durable with 4-12 T7 wounds, can bolster 1-3 ruins, have 3 kinds of shells and are better against single models or max spacing because even getting one model per blast is a 4-12 min where WW is 3. You also have a close combat back line unit with its 3 flamers, 3 tl PP and 6 servo arm attacks lol.


I am liking triple dakka preds with tiggles the most to be honest. 18 HB shots and 6 auto canon shots that can get reliable prescience and have tank hunter/monster hunter. These things kill vehicles, MC's and infantry, heck they even through the hurt down on fliers/FMC and heaven help your opponent if tigs also has perfect timing. I'd even toss 3 storm bolters on them because why the F not.
