Now that the new Codex has dropped I will be running squads of Ironclads. Was wondering what people thought was the best loadout regarding close combat weapons. In the past I generally ran the seismic hammer. But I wonder if there are benefits to running with some chainfists on them ? Thoughts opinions ?

Allways take mine with chainfist. Cheap armourbane, now this little guy can even dismantle Imperial Knights and Titans with his 5 attacks on charge.

Dark Angels ~ 7350pts (about 5800 painted);
Ultramarines ~ 4700pts (about 2700 painted);
Imperial Knights ~ 1300pts (about 800 painted);
Skitarii and Mechanicum ~ 2000pts (about 1800 painted);

Do you lose an attack by using the chainfist so on the charge you would only get 5 however with the seismic hammer you would have 6 on the charge with 5 base. Also does the chainfist reduce Initiative to 1 or are dreads immune to that ?

Both of the fist work well.
Chainfist is more likely to get the pen (armorbane).
Hammer has a bonus on the damage table (AP1)
If you are just going to be slapping around light vehicles, the hammer is better. Also going to be better vs. MCs. Against hard targets, like heavy walkers and AV14, the chainfist is probably better.
I’ve given some thought to how the rules changed for them. With 4 attacks base, do we still need the spare fist for the extra attack, or is the hurricane bolter more attractive. Going from 2 to 3 was huge, but is going from 4 to 5 worth the loss of potential shooting? I like the melta guns but when squadroning, wall of deathing all those HF is someone charges you is going to be hilarious. Dreads ignore unwieldy, so strike at initiative. And IIRC they are all specialist weapons, so as long as you keep the PF on the other arm, you get the extra attack.

Chain fist and hammer. Hammer is for AV 10-13. Chainfist av14+. Also i'd either take 2 heavy flamers or heavy flamer and meltagun. You might, also, might want to take ironclad assault launcher. If you are running two CC weapons, you might want to take a drop pod.

I was thinking of running one with a fist and heavy flamer in a drop-pod, thoughts?

Personally, now that drop pods are fast-attack, my bother with the Lucius pattern unleash you are going to play something that you really want to keep a live. I usually use my Ironclad to waste some weak point in my opponents army. Land near by, hope out, double heavy flame a unit. Then next turn assault the a near by unit. My dreadnought of choice is Bry'arth Ashmantle. 2 heavy flamers, twin-linked meltagun. It will not die. Make him your warlord and you get a VP for every vehicle and IC he kills. Also he gets to use his heavy flamers in CC.

Ashmantle is one of the best walkers in the game.
But since I don't run sallies, I just run an ironclad. And I love the twin HF from a drop pod. torch a squishy target, mind the rear armor and then go for the vehicles.
