Wish I could get more excited. Don't get me wrong, I played the crap out of FFVII, but with all the other games coming out this fall it's hard to get excited about a remake of a game I played decades ago.

Not for me. I've been dwelling on which game will I play when I get home from this gak hole country, now I know.

Will it be available for PC? If not, don't care.

Square has been on a binge releasing a lot of their titles on PC, including now almost the entire FF series (The new games and remakes).

Will this remake be available PC day one? IDK. But it probably will be eventually.

The trailer did say "play it first on PS4." That first in there implies it could come to PC later, I think.

That would be my guess. A year, year and a half down the line it'll probably see a Steam release.

The question is, can I wait that long or do I save up and buy a PS4?

EDIT: Also, I feel like I know the voice in the trailer but can't think of from where! Really annoying me

Let me know if they remake IV or VI otherwise it is just a remake of a nostalgia favorite but entirely mediocre game. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either.

I have to say, when I heard about the FFVII remake my reaction was something like "Look at all the feths I don't give".

But if they said FFVI?

I'd throw money at the screen for the HD Remake just for the "Suplex a Train" moment.

FFIV too ... Good Gods, how I loved that game when I played it for DS. Golbez is such a manly man.

Final Fantasy VII was one of the first games I ever played, so it holds a special place in my gaming heart

I'm curious about how they're going to handle the world map. Having the player run around a big empty grass field is kind of outdated, but that's what I want (just prettier!). I definitely don't want it to be like FFX, with just corridors and some slightly larger open spaces and not being able to physically fly the airship around.

If it doesn't feature the world map, then it will be the biggest disappointment of my life. The decline of world maps in RPGs coincides directly with my decline in interest in playing them. The world maps of FF7 through FF9 were some of the most interesting and entertaining aspects of the game, and even though technology has rendered them *technically* redundant, they still have a lot of gameplay value (IMHO). I think technology actually allows for them to be even better than they were before, bigger, more detailed, more interesting, more locations, etc.

Personally, I think the bigger question is if they're going to include some fan service by leaving Aeriths name as Aeris, and including a means to revive her/save her from Sephiroth, and or the much rumored 'scoring' cutscene at the Gold Saucer.... ;P

The real questions remain:

1) Will we see be able to see the differences in outfits during the cross-dressing segment?

2) Will the goings on in the Honeybee Inn finally be revealed in their 1080p glory?

3) Will Cloud and Barret still have the possibility of sharing a gondola ride dripping with homoerotic tension?

4) Will Cid be as foulmouthed as he was in the original but now in the glorious, gravelly audio tones of a man who has smoked thousands of marlboros?

The Laws of Thermodynamics:
1) You cannot win. 2) You cannot break even. 3) You cannot stop playing the game.

FF7 I really enjoyed at the time, I played it too much to enjoy this remake however.

FF4 would be neat, only played it once to the end.

Chrono Trigger HD could raise some excitement.

Or an HD Ultima 4.

I tried playing FF7 about 4 times; first time was on PC, and my friend needed the discs back. Game was so large at the time, my dad made me delete it from the hard drive. Bye bye save file. Got it back a while later, but my friend had lost a disc: couldn't get past Cloud crossdressing. Tossed it back to him, deleted file. Borrowed a PS1 copy in college. Friend asked for it back. Tossed the save data for other games. Bought the game while still in college and started playing again. Corrupt memory card wiped out my save data. All these times I lost access to the game or the file was destroyed at the same spot. Cloud cross dressing. You can only play a game so many times and have it end at the same spot before you develop a seething hatred for the game and all that it entails. I won't play FF7 ever again. But I would play the heck out of IV and VI.

7 did feel pretty mediocre though. The story wasn't anything special, and paled in comparison to earlier ones. I only kept trying to play because of how amazing everyone said it was.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I liked 7. It scores solidly in the middle of the pack of the numbered series for me. I'll probably enjoy it more this time around than I did as a kid. I really disliked the modern setting elements, 3-character party size or limited equipment choices back at the original release. These are all things hat I've kind of grown into with other games since then.

Maybe it is like the planets aligning, a game that needs to connect with players at a certain moment in their lives. I played FFVII when I was about 14 or so and it absolutely blew my mind.

I don't think this is more true of FF7 than anything else. It's just that when you're that age everything is more intense. No matter if it's the cute girl in class being the cutest girl ever or the cool new game that just came out being the coolest game ever. Of course the solidly-produced big budget title blew your mind. You were 14, your brain was rigged for being blown in way it just isn't as a younger child or an adult.

You could probably transport any title that as an adult you've thought "That was really solid" but didn't blown your mind back in time to teenage you and teenage you would have his mind blown (even if the graphics and controls were down-scaled to be in-keeping with 1997).

If only FF7 wasn't total garbage with the whiniest cast of characters ever. (Besides Cid. Cid was cool).

They need to do that to FF3. A villain who was actually good at his job. A cybernetically enhanced mage knight. Indiana Jones, a Ninja, Mechs, Womanizing Gambling Airship pirates.

FF3 was like winning awesome gak bingo.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Tifa and Aeris weren't whiny, neither was Red XIII, Barret or Cait Sith...

Vincent had that whole emo vamp thing going but he could also transform into a chainsaw wielding maniac in a hockey mask so we'll forgive him.
Yuffie is either cute or annoying or both depending on how you feel about teenage ninjas who steal all of your materia.
Cloud isn't really whiny, per se, he just goes through a complete identity crisis.

Disagree. Even in the late 1990s, we were being bombarded by media with (for the time) high production values. FFVII stood way out at the time, to me.
