Does anyone else collect these figures,if so which rules do you use? I'm thinking of starting a small Tsarist/Soviet navy detachment. and then maybe some Czech Legion to fight them.
I noticed that WI are pushing for articles which prompted me to ask around

I like the figures and have thought of using them for some kind of IG army, but never got around to it.
Pulp fiction or WW1 skirmish rules would be appropriate, I imagine. I haven't got any experience though (not since about 30 years ago, anyway.)

You could use Osprey's A World Aflame rules? They are inter-war period, frequently referred to as the Pulp Era.

Boy would I like to get the rules for that (as mentioned in WGI FB post) but 30 USD for a 64-page softcover and another 33 USD for the 48-page scenario book ... And here I am thinking GW rips me off!

It is only £11.99 full price in the UK for the rulebook!
It might be cheaper to get someone in the UK to buy a copy off Amazon and post it to you.

I wouldnt get those 'A World Aflame' rules... Seen them, played them, was rather dissapointed.
Try the Lead Adventure forum, they have loads of rule ideas and options for Pulp type encounters...

Come to think of it, Statuesque Miniatures has some kind of Pulp rules. I don't know the scale of them, probably skirmish at a guess. Automatically Appended Next Post: just remembered another one; A Very British Civil War is rules for a civil war in the UK in the 1930s. That roughly covers the era you are interested in.

I checked on amazon.co. uk (as sometimes have to buy things through the British amazon anyway) and getting the cheapest copy to someone in the UK who could send it on to me was already 25USD ... so by the time I reimbursed someone in the UK for posting the book to the US, I'd certainly be in for 30+ USD ... for a used copy! Getting a new copy from Cavalier comes out to about 44 USD, which is more than what I would pay (approx. 37 USD with shipping) to get it from the only stateside venue I know that carries it. But honestly the main problem is not shipping. At the current exchange rate, the cover price in UK (20 GBP) is actually more expensive than the cover price in the USA.

Are we talking about the Osprey rules called A World Aflame? They are priced at £11.99 standard.
On Amazon I can see that Book Depository has that rulebook brand new for £5.20 + £2.80 postage = £8 (UK price). To send to the USA at International Standard rate, it would be a Large Letter, for which Royal Mail is another £7.45, assuming the package is over 500g which I think it actually would be lighter and cheaper.
Reviews on the rules are mixed, though. Perhaps it is not worth taking the risk without having the chance of a couple of trial games.

I picked up my copy of A World Aflame for about that price, our club use a modified version of it for AVBCW. It's aimed at a slightly larger force size than I'm interested in playing, which will be about 40-50 minis + maybe a tank or armoured car.

I am going to write a new rules called A Very Civil Setting the Eastern Flaming World In Flames Ablaze.
It will cover everything to do with between the wars conflict.

I picked up some Bolshevik officers so I've now doubled the size of my force. I'll probably keep collecting odds and ends until I find a nice rule-set for them.

I'm still rooting around for a rule set. Has anyone played Triumph and Tragedy?
http://www.empressminiatures.com/userimages/procart18.htm
Failing that I've also had a go with Iron Ivan's Price of Glory. With some modification to the army lists, which are a bit on the 'heroic' side for what I'm looking for, it may be suitable.

I now have a copy of Setting the East Ablaze. I've not tried it out yet but it seems to cover all the things I'd need.
Time to get my army off the three colour base paint scheme it has at the moment.
