Yeah thats the thing, In my Meta no one wants to play Maelstrom because of its randomness. They dont like that they can lose with a big score difference even when they go all out and play like the end boss.. And i must say, i have seen matches end with ridiculous score differences multiple times... I like close games, not those games where on turn 2 you already see where the battle is going.. My last 2 Maelstrom missions i played (against my oppenents will, somewhat) i lost with 13-2 and 11-5.. just because i had bad card draws and he had every good card with 1d3 points...

I would love to see more flayed ones and lychguard in play, realy, but they get outplayed all the time in my Meta or just avoided so that they are no threat at all..

I agree with this. Though, I'll admit my last couple of Maelstrom games have been the reverse of your case, which still isn't that fun.

I use Lychguard and Flayed Ones all the time, as this codex has made them fantastic. But yeah, Flayed Ones especially, people have learned how to deal with them so they typically die before doing much.

Waaghboss, I see 1-2, 10-20 man units of flayed ones every game and they are terrifying. There is always one unit of lytchguard and usually 1 unit of deep striking praetorians...

And we are orc players not Eldar. I don't care what is fragile to an OP codex. I care only about what the op wanted, which is how we Orcs compete against their vastly superior rules.

And like I said before, play Maelstrom matches gives us a huge opportunity to win. Case in point, Monday I played my buddy who plays Necron. Turn 6 when the game ended I had a Morkanaut, 9boys w/nob and 2cans left. (I was trying out what kooai had said) and he had most of his army left. I won 8-2. All he had was first blood (a trukk) and slay the warlord.

Tactical objectives able to be gained while we have units on the board are our friends. If we are counting on winning by objectives at the end of the game... We're sol.

Could you tell more bout the game? It'd be interesting to hear. Seems that this naught tactix partially worked - at least you had him occupied long enough to score points.

Well he uses flayed ones, lytchguard, immortals, warriors, praetorians, wraiths, a doom arch, a doom barge, doom scythe, and some bikes... That's everything I remember in his army.

Kooai, in this thread, brought up that he shouldn't be able to drop too many vehicles per turn. Mathammer wise, he's right, but I wanted to see what that looked like on the battle field. So I took 12 cans, I love grotzookas but I felt I needed S8 ap3 so I took rockets. I took a Morkanaut for the off some bikes with a killsaw bigmek and nob pk. One 30 man unit of boys 2trukks w/nob pk and 15 Tankbustas. 2k pt game.

Didn't go like planned at all, but turn one I tried to destroy the arc and grab a middle objective. I failed to get first blood bit grabbed that objective with my bikes. He wrecked the truck I placed to block Los to his immortals. I dismounted a unit right next to them. He murdered a can, some bikes, some tankbustas but overall was an okay round. Round 2 grabbed another objective in the middle and assaulted him with 3 units boys boys bikers which killed the arc and barge which got me the d3 mission objective. Next round he jumped wraiths into a boy unit making them run, killed my bikes getting him StW. His plane entered and killed some cans. Next turn I assaulted with the Morkanaut into flayed ones, cans who were smaller now hit lytchguard, 30 man boys took an objective, last 2 cans took another. He shot some, killed some in cc but couldn't get to his objectives because his vehicles were dead and my 30 man squad was on the other, plus he felt he could table me. Friends pass I lose more models but get line breaker and challenge someone. Then game ended as I remember it. I had a few models, he had most of his army left. If you want it fresher in my memory next time I can take notes and pictures during our next game, just pm me if you'd like that.

Also kans did nearly nothing in the shooting, or in cc, But they survived and held points for me when needed. It was fun.
