On a side note, anyone fancy doing me a huge favour and stepping in to run next month's challenge? The latter half of September is going to be pretty hectic for me what with heading off to uni, so while I could probably still manage to keep this going, it might run a little smoother if someone else could step in. It's just one less thing for me to worry about, and in all honesty, running these things is pretty fun if you have the time/inclination.

No worries if not, but if anyone is genuinely interested and can commit to doing it (just for the one month, I should be settled in and less busy when October rolls around) then please PM me or post here.
I can. After the 6th I pretty much have September to myself. Though if you try and get second/an early post in the topic, you can edit that with information and thoughts on the first page as well.

That is 100% awesome! Thanks so much!

I guess you've seen enough of the challenges to get the formula by now, but either way I'll PM you some guidelines later on, and yeah, I'll still be participating/following along with the challenge as much as I can, so getting an early post should be easy enough.

Are we posting hand related scars now? I got one on my wrist, I also have one from a soda can, and countless war scars from Xacto knife blades.

Also, curious. What are you doing with that? A small diorama? A vignette maybe?

The Aquila dome has no glass, so I need to make some to fit.
You can see the uncut dome in the background of that photo next to the purple wash.
Traditionally you make a dome canopy by heating clear plastic or plasticard over an oven ring and pushing an appropriate dome through a correctly sized hole in a piece of wood.

I have no drill or wood here, so my father cut those holes (24mm with one size up and down), and mailed them to me yesterday. With Monday being a postal holiday, I had no idea if I'd get it or not. Thankfully yes, and I got the plastic too!

Stormwall, I was joking, that's pretty much nothing, I'm just amused it showed up on the photo. I occasionally get to say, "That's the scar I got from giving my friend his head." as it happened when I was handing one over.

I joked because the knuckles on that hand (that will never make an appearance on Dakka), are a myriad of scars that have earned me the question, "Did you punch someone?"
Truth is (as my parents delight in retelling), age four, I fell down some concrete steps as a child holding a plastic watering can. I refused to let go of the watering can because it was paramount importance, and ended up in A&E still holding the watering can. Presumably with contents.
I say "I don't remember."

I've finished my entry. I had loads of fun working on this thing, and I hope you guys like it. Without further ado, here are the final pictures of my Soul Grinder:

As I said, I had a lot of fun putting this together and painting it. I feel like I learned a fair amount, including how to do decent drybrush effects on textured surfaces (the skin, in the case of this model). This fits this month's theme better than my entry last month fit last month's theme, I think.
Loving everyone else's entries so far, with special shout-out to Winter for that amazing Tech-priest Dominus, and Inspector #264 for Maximilian (I love the movie that he comes from!). Of course, once Januine is finished he's gonna probably blow us all out of the water, but Winter's entry will at least make him work for it! And, of course, thanks Paradigm for having this contest and giving me (and others) the inspiration to try new things and push the envelope with my painting skills!

Many thanks for the kind shout out, glad you like him, and the movie is a personal favourite of mine!
Good job on the Soul Grinder by the way, the dry brushing has been really effective highlighting the flesh, and the contrast between it and the armor plates makes it pop more.

Love those, WInter, Zergsmasher. I agree, these contests have been great excuses to learn and try new things.

Don't think I'll get to finish, after all that. I sat down to have a go, and had an accident. Got a great spatter of blood on the main body of the Aquila and my white painted IG while trying to stand up. Not exactly a proud moment. I'll see how far I can get, and enter that.

Having to paint and hold left handed because moving my right hand starts it off again.

That’s how Khorne armies start, be careful.

And heal up.

Tons of nice work this month. I know we say this every month, but it’s true, and getting truer! Great jobs from everybody.

Thank god I got one more day with this guy. I'm very close.

I am saddened as I do not think I can get the base done in time but, I will try you guys.

Bad timing with work starting in a day and a half. This contest actually forced me to paint and practice and try new things and I'm really grateful for that. Lastly, should I go with a bright yellow plasma to limit my color pallet, or a bright blue? I am unsure if I have the paints for the blue plasma. :C I could also use a green plasma as there are some green gems on my giant-phallic-shaped-contemptor-sized-thallax creation. What do you guys think?

Edit. His dread gives me some ideas.

Been away a lot this moth so not been posting much, some pretty impressive work so far tho' guys! (and girls?)
Managed to get my entry finished late last night, I'm sure its not to everyones taste, but needed to be done. So, thank-you Para for letting me enter this, my first attempt at Steampunking up a Nerf gun. Turned out to be a lot harder than I thought it would be. I assumed that as it was 1:1 scale, and therefore not need shading, that it wold be easy. But, it turned out to be the opposite! Working with enamels was far harder than I thought it would be, and I found out that metallic paint, just looks like paint when scaled up, rather than metal. So it took a lot of experimenting and trips to Halfords.
It also turned out to be a real pig to get the moving parts painted with a tough enough lacquer to keep their colour and yet still work.
So here it is, my as yet un-named steampunk revolver. Deregulated to have twice the range of a normal Nerf and weighted for a more realistic feel. Any feedback for the next one I build is appreciated, also any suggestions for names? Going with The Defenestrater at the moment.

Knight Commander Pask is finally finished and I hope you like him!

It's been a blast trying out various weathering techniques! It's my second attempt at a really weathered tank and this time I feel I got a lot more things right. Using sponges for paint chipping and various use of weathering powders will definitely be part of my toolbox in the future.

A word of warning: weathering powder seems able to move all by itself! I've got that stuff all over my paint station, and it will take me another evening just go get that sorted!

I am also really happy with Pask himself! When I saw that face on the flaggelant sprue I instantly thought of Pask and I have been meaning to do that conversion ever since.
