Yeah but large ship boost barrel roll could take you from out of range to range 1 with frightening ease. Add in a white segnors loop and a turret and he's practically guaranteed to have a good shot or dodge one. That's why his title upgrade is 12pts I'd imagine. With Ptl, gunner, engine upgrade, and a relevant agromech like the R4, he could be terrifying

That's a little hyperbolic.

When IG-88 was first spoiled, everyone was convinced that Brobot lists were too powerful and would be unbeatable because they looked so good on paper. Well, they've been here for a while now and they haven't swept through the meta and crushed everyone, so I don't expect Dengar to either.

Im not saying that he's going to absolutely destroy the meta or anything, just that this guy will have to have a TERRIBLE dial to keep him from being good with that combination of upgrades, abilities, and PS.

Have you seen a large ship that can barrel roll and boost? He isn't getting shot unless you've got arcs across the whole table, a turret yourself, or he's a complete moron. Think about how well a good player is able to dodge arcs with soontir fel, a small ship. Now almost triple the distance that ship covers with those two moves, that's what Dengar will be able to do. And he won't care about stress, because he can either take an unhinged astromech to give him a bunch of 3 green moves, or have upgrades like gunner and R4 to ensure his attacks still hit hard even with the stress. And on top of that, if you're good enough to keep an enemy ship that's going to shoot you in arc, he's going to be able to fire twice in a turn.

Of course, we still haven't seen his dial as you said, but I feel engine upgrade and barrel roll with a skilled player will more than make up for any shortcomings the dial has, unless we're talking a dial so bad it makes the HWK look like an interceptor.

No doubt he'll be good, as well he should be because S&V is lacking in that department. I just don't think he'll be "terrifying."

Yes. I'm a regular Super Dash player.

He isn't getting shot unless you've got arcs across the whole table, a turret yourself, or he's a complete moron. A good player will know how to deal with him much like good players know how to close in on Dash and/or block him. However, unlike Dash, Dengar cannot safely ignore obstacles so luring him and trapping him in the middle of board will help mitigate his barrel rolls and/or boosts. Arc dodgers with faster, more nimble ships will still be able to arc dodge him and negate his pilot ability.

Of course, we still haven't seen his dial as you said, but I feel engine upgrade and barrel roll with a skilled player will more than make up for any shortcomings the dial has, unless we're talking a dial so bad it makes the HWK look like an interceptor.
I don't think he'll have a terrible dial, but I expect it to be predictable since it's asymmetrical. Decent players will quickly learn what he can and can't do, therefore making it easier to keep him where they want him.

Like I said, I fully expect Dengar to be one of the better pilots/ships for S&V, but I don't think it's evidence of power creep, especially considering how cautious FFG has been with the faction.

It's going to be at least 1/2 your list, if you fatten it up, and it has one more shield than a Y Wing.

It will be a legitimate option, but it won't be an auto take, nor will it break the game. Frankly SnV needs something with a bit of flavour and some punch.
