WARLORD GAMES AND WARGAMES FACTORY ARE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE A PARTNERSHIP OF HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE.

Warlord Games will be the exclusive worldwide distributor of all Wargames Factory miniatures, featuring sets from such classic historical periods as the Dark Ages, War of Spanish Succession and American War of Independence. Wargames Factory have also produced a highly detailed new, unreleased range of Science Fiction and Dark Futures miniatures.

The partnership adds value and market presence to both companies and allows each to focus on their strengths.

John Stallard, Managing Director of Warlord Games, said…
“Both Warlord Games and Wargames Factory started business at the same time, eight years ago, both with the goal of making exciting, affordable plastic miniatures available to the wargames market. Although both companies grew in splendid isolation, we are excited about partnering with the talent at Wargames Factory. This way we can provide many more plastics sets for even more periods of history.”

Waikee Hui, CEO of Wargames Factory, said…
“We are excited to have a partner for sales and distribution in the wargaming industry like Warlord Games. It allows us to remain focused on manufacturing high quality products over several industry sectors. WGF is not going out of business. We will continue to develop some interesting, new products for the industry. We are optimistic that the industry enthusiasts, customers and fans will appreciate the partnership.”

Interesting. This will make WGF stuff much more available to those of us outside the US, especially with Warlord's free shipping. The announcement also states that Warlord will be the exclusive worldwide distributor, so this should theoretically mean that WGF will be closing down it's US website and distribution?

I wonder what this will mean for Dreamforge?

Was wondering about that, too. Not only that, but didn't WGF produce almost every Kickstarter that worked in plastic in the last two years? Secret Weapon Minis tablescapes and Kingdom Death plastics among many others? Does Maelstrom's Edge have any production with WGF?

I assume they'll be moved over, too, per the comment about WGF's sci-fi lines.

Honestly, this is probably a great development. It frees up WGF to keep manufacturing some of the best plastic kits in the industry. With Dreamforge, Malifaux, Kingdom Death, and others, they've already got plenty to do.

Hopefully this means easier access to Warlord stuff here in the States without the stupid VAT and overseas shipping. I hope they do not move everything to the UK, that will highly increase the costs.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM!

Aren't WFG also producing some of the plastics for MEdge?

I doubt that it would affect work for hire. Dreamforge is a slightly different situation, with the co-financing and WGF distribution.

Copy of a Q&A session from the WGF forums-

Q:Will (you) still sell from this website? Will you then be able to offer sales? Will shops still carry your sets?
A: It hasn't been decided yet how the website will be handled. Warlord will be taking over not just the distribution but the sales and marketing of WGF kits. So they'll be deciding when to have sales, promotions etc on the kits. Retails stores will still carry WGF kits, with Warlords distribution channels I would think you'll actually see the kits on more shelves than ever, especially in Europe.
Q:We can basically give up the idea of ever seeing WF produce any British troops?
A: Pardon the round about answer here, covering more than just the question above. Warlord's Sales Team is currently reviewing our kits. I think there may be some that are discontinued, they may even reconfigure some of the kits. IE - merge kits into one, different sprue counts etc. Since they're taking over Sales and Marketing for WGF they'll be doing what they feel is best for sales.
The agreement does specify that they will distribute future kits that WGF produces. Technically Wargames Factory could produce more WWII kits, but I think its safe to say that you're going to see less kit overlap.
Q: there is a sale going on, is that related or is it just for gencon?
A: Its just a Gencon sale, although I've been extending it due to customer interest and response. We'll probably wrap the sale soon though.
Q: Dark Futures or Dark Ages?
A:I'm confident they meant Dark Futures. The Sci-Fi kits that have been hinted at in various parts of the forum are the kits they'll be releasing.

Q: Is the Warlord agreement the last hurdle to completion of the sci-fi kits?
A: Pretty much, the tooling for the kits has been done for a while. (Same goes for the last two AWI Kits)
Q: Will WLG be moving up to WGF's scale, or will they remain at 2 different scales?
A: The existing wgf kits will stay the same since no re-toolings are currently planned. Regarding the future I imagine the two companies will continue to produce product in their respective styles / scales. It really comes down to an artistic choice in how much the proportions are exaggerated etc.
Q: Has Warlord bought or acquired a controlling interest in WGF?
A: No, with this agreement Warlord does not own any part of Wargames Factory or its toolings, IP etc. This is a distribution agreement, Wargames Factory is partnering with Warlord to provide the distribution, sales and marketing for our kits. The level of control they are being given shows the level of trust Wargames Factory is exercising in Warlord Games to promote and sell our kits. If you're worried about Warlord doing this to "squash" WGF, don't be. The agreement addresses sales performance and the parting of ways if things aren't working out.

Huh, will be interesting to see if we'll be getting more stuff, as Warlord is notoriously hard to get around here. We're nine months in and I'm still waiting on Armoured Fury..

Does this mean new WGF kits will be more expensive? They've always had great prices for impulse buying, while WG does not.

And I wonder what they'll discontinue. Dammit, sounds like I'd better start panic buying.

I think it is pretty likely that the price will be higher unfortunately. I sure hope they don't discontinue the WGF WWII line. It makes Warlords look pretty bad by comparison, but I wouldn't really shed a tear for anything put out during the Tony Reidy era.

I hope this means that WGF will finally pull their head out of their nethers and start producing Sci-fi/Post apocalyptic kits like everyone wants them to. I remember hearing that they sold more of the sci-fi greatcoats than any other kit by a huge, huge margin, but then they persisted in jumping into historical eras that are already widely covered (and in plastic too!) rather than producing more sci-fi stuff for some inscrutable reason.

Huh. Warlord is great & easy to order from directly and have quite a low free shipping threshold. I get a whole lot of stuff direct these days.

Smaller orders are done directly from them, but bigger ones usually go through my FLGS, so I have something of a discount on the big stuff. I think they're on to us or something.

On the bright side(?), Bolt Action has not taken off at all around here, so that's one potential waste of money I've managed to dodge.

I think it's amazing that there are more lines of Zulu war models than there were actual major battles in the Zulu war. I get that there was a movie and all, and I even have a Praetorian IG army, but goddamn is it bizarre that there are two ranges of that, and no plastic WWII minor powers.

That's a headscratcher then because all of my orders from them ship from the UK, why would they go to the extra expense of international shipping if they have a US distributor?

Because you ordered directly from them? If you ordered directly from, say, Games Workshop, or Reaper, does the order come from Alliance?

And just like GW, as a retailer, you can have a trade account direct with Warlord or you can order their product from Alliance or Golden (though with less of a profit margin)

*edit, oh you meant, a US corporate warehouse/presence. No, but from what I understand, Warlord is opening a US HQ soon, versus just having Sales Representatives here.

But seriously I hope this bodes well for DreamForge. Anything that can help that line along I would strongly support.

That'll be nice if it happens. I just made my first order; the shipping was surprisingly fast but I was a bit surprised that they already didn't have a US-based warehouse considering how much trade they do here. Heck, there's a fairly large Bolt Action convention in Oklahoma City every year.

Panic buying? More like I panic-bought-the-farm, because you're killing me, Larry!!!!!!!!!

From the latest Dreamforge update, I got the impression that things were not looking so good for Mark Mondragon.

That's awesome.

I've been eyeing some WGF products, but the shipping is ludicrous for outside of the US.
