So I was sitting here thinking about how to run a TIE Advanced list considering I will have the Raider in my hands later this afternoon. Mainly, I want Darth Vader on the table because he's my favorite character in Star Wars and he needs to see some action! I came up with this list and though it has some weaknesses, I think it will be pretty fun to play (even though I play in tournaments, I care much more about having a good time even if I don't win):
Darth Vader (29) Lone Wolf (2) Advanced Targeting Computer (1) Engine Upgrade (4) TIE/x1 (0)
The basic theory is with Fel and Vader at PS 9 and shooting first, stripping shields, the Lieutenant can use his ability to start flipping damage cards face up. Even better, there is no range requirement on his ability and being at such a low PS and less threatening than Vader/Fel, he will be the lowest priority target. At 97 points, I can either go for the initiative bid or give Vader some Proton Rockets for a little more punch.
What do you guys/gals think? What are some TIE Advanced-centered lists have you all come up with?

Well, that's pretty much how I plan on running Vader. Colzet, I'd rather have Ion Pulse Rockets, since I feel locking down a Fatty beats a PS3 with Range 1 ordinance. Another option is to move the rockets to Vader.
As for what I've come up with:
Vader-36
X-1
Adv. Targeting Computer
Lone Wolf
Engine Upgrade
Soontir-34
Royal Guard
PTL Autothrusters
Targeting Computer
Omicron-29
Emperor
Idea being that the Emperor shuttle goes in the middle and hangs back, While my Aces run forwards and flank my opponent. Emperor focuses on defence, but will hand out Crits when they are useful.
Could switch Maarek to Juno for the amazing amount of maneuverability she provides. Maybe switch Engine Upgrade on Juno to Tie MkII engines? Hmm.

Automatically Appended Next Post: I'm not too gung-ho on running a Emperor shuttle, but I do very much enjoy flying TIE Phantoms. I saw list similar to this floating around and I made a few changes to it (and of course, it's anchored by Lord Vader):
Darth Vader (29) Lone Wolf (2) Advanced Targeting Computer (1) Engine Upgrade (4) TIE/x1 (0)
Sigma Squadron Pilot (25) Fire-Control System (2) Rebel Captive (3) Stygium Particle Accelerator (2)
Sigma Squadron Pilot (25) Fire-Control System (2) Tactician (2) Stygium Particle Accelerator (2)
It has its obvious weaknesses, chiefly the low amount of hit points, but you could really punish a YT-2400/1300 or a Devastator in one round of shooting. Another possibility is to drop the control aspects off the Phantoms and just put Recon Specialist on both of them. That will give them a double focus + evade every round to help make up for their low agility.

That or Daredevil to make Vader even more maneuverable. Getting stress on Vader sucks because makes him really predictable, but giving him a 1 turn is pretty sweet.

This is exactly the list I've fine-tuned to since the Raider components have been on the Squad Builder, and haven't even come close to losing (I once lost Fel due to a mis-step but Vader still cleaned up). There are undoubtedly lists that could be designed to take full advantage of its weaknesses, but I've not found anything stronger against 'take all comers' lists.
On the broader subject of the Advanced, I'm a big fan of Juno's ability - at least twice I've used it to dial down a turn from 2 to 1, and hence ended up pointing into the side of an enemy ship instead of flying right out into its arc. I have also used her with VI and EU to take down another Imp player running a Slippery Fel (AT+SD) as I had almost unparalleled maneuverability (a VI Jax helped too by stopping him using all his Tokens!).
“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”
Juno definitely pairs well with Veteran Instincts/Engine Upgrade/Advanced Sensors - she has one of the best abilties going to rewrite her maneuvers on the fly.
The downside, of course, is that she's then just a generic TIE advanced in firepower - i.e. naff all. You can swap out advanced sensors for an accuracy corrector to give her reliable - if still weak - firepower.
Maarek Stele is an easy sell. TIE/x1 and Advanced Targeting computer are just too good a pairing with his ability to pass over. You can support this with any number of other upgrades - Veteran Instincts gives him equal PS to Vader, which is good for any number of reasons (rebel captive, changing activation order to avoid blocking, shooting before Dash and Luke), whilst MkII engines and Push The Limit means he can keep up with Vader on the actions front sort of).
An advanced homing missile in the tubes is worth it if you have the points, too.
Stele, Vader and Palpatine in a shuttle is a nice list, I suspect. The trick will be avoiding having people go straight for Palpatine and kill him first.
If you want a three-heavy-fighter squad, then Governor Strom might be a nice buy - with him and proton rockets/advanced targeting computers to boost firepower, TIE/x1s can actually joust with B-wings and X-wings and have a reasonable chance of coming out on top...
Tempest Squadron (21)
TIE X/1
Accuracy Corrector (Free with X/1)
Cluster Missile (4)
Times 4.
That's 4 guaranteed hits at R1-2 from each ship on the initial salvo. 16 Hits total. That kills just about any big ship in the game (IG-88 could withstand it, only because he would be rolling 3 greens to your 2 hits every time...but he would have to get good rolls throughout the entire salvo).
After the Alfa strike your still looking at 2 hits from each ship every turn.

Here's another list that looks to be pretty fun. You get two agile arc dodgers with good firepower plus the reliable damage output of Accuracy Corrector on the Tempest Squadron Pilot:

Drop Marksmanship on Alozen and give him Push the Limit. Since he acquires a Target Lock on an enemy ship at Range 1 at the beginning of combat, you can use his two actions to either attempt an arc dodge (which will be difficult given his low PS) or turtle up with Evade/Focus. If you wanted, you can also downgrade Predator to Lone Wolf on Vader and use that extra point to give him Engine Upgrade in stead of Stealth Device.
Making it easier for him to arc dodge means you won't have to worry about rolling defense dice as often.

List really only working if "Wingman" can pull stress from multiple friendly's.
Honestly I think I may have a tumor because I can not decide what they are trying to tell me on some of these cards.

Nope, only one:
Also, if you're going to give Vader Push the Limit, you need to give him Engine Upgrade. The first time you boost out of an arc you've already paid for Hull Upgrade and then some.

I think Alozen might work well with a Fire Control System. After all, getting a target lock is awkward with a low PS pilot, plus locking someone up as an action gives you a TIE advanced with no defensive tokens - which is fairly easy to kill. And you mostly want the lock for Colzet's end-of-turn ability, not his fairly so-so primary weapon shot.
Actually, since handing out Target Locks is a big deal, would Colonel Jendon and ST-321 be a nice idea? If you're fielding a PalpatineMobile, then this is an 8 point upgrade over a basic Omicron Group Pilot...
See I read that card and to me it says I can remove a single stress token from friendly ships. So if they have multiple stress I can only pull one off them. Not a single stress from a single ship. The weirdness of American English.
In this case you never spend the target locks because "Advanced Targeting Computer". If you have a target lock on with "ATC" you add a crit hit to your damage roll.

I agree that English is weird, but not in this case.
The card text says, "[...] remove 1 stress token from another friendly ship at Range 1." One token, one ship. Otherwise it would say something along the lines of "[...] remove 1 stress token from all friendly ships at Range 1."

So I did Tweak the list. Vader dropped Predator and Stealth Device for Engine and Lone Wolf. Alozen dropped Marksmanship and picked up Push The Limit.
Local League Night
First game was tight. Playing against Nera, Gemmer, and Wedge. Loses went back and forth as he used Nera, Deadeye and Recon Specialist to good effect.
Second game was also against named rebels. Forget the details, but I lost the shields on Vader and Alozen pretty quickly. From there, I was able to dodge arcs enough that I could pick his list apart.
Overall, I like the list. Both Vader and Fel are solid. Alozen is good for the points that I spent on him, but I keep wanting another Interceptor.

I found out last night that Scum Firesprays will tear the TIE Advanced (and TIE Interceptors) apart... I went 0-4 against a Kath/Fett list that my buddy plays. A lot of it has to do with my poor flying and unfamiliarity with both the Advanced and Interceptor. The other thing that hurts pretty bad is the rear arc, especially on Kath. The two ships can position themselves to easily cover each other since they have those two goddamn arcs.

Yeah... I can see that. Hounds Tooth will be just as bad with the 180 degree arc.
Both Interceptors and Advancedes really need to play at range 3... one of the reasons that Alozen isn't the best.

Unless you can't avoid taking return fire, Fel need to be at range 1 but outside of arc. Most of the time, it can be done (I did it to Kath a few times last night).
I'm not too worried about the Hound's Tooth and its arc. That ship does have a decent dial, but getting behind it probably won't be a problem. You'll just have to remember that it has the stop maneuver.

I think the issue that's become apparent when facing off against the new Advanced is that while it has had some nice offensive upgrades, it's still an Advanced defensively, meaning it's hardly a tank, especially if you've got something like autoblasters or abilities that reduce their defence dice, and still has a mediocre dial that especially means they can be very predictable if they've got a stress token.
Perhaps TIE Engine v2 may help, but that's a trade off for some of the more popular offensive upgrades.
The new stuff helps immensely, but I still think they struggle a bit.

I played against Super Dash & Corran, RAC & Fel, and Oicunn & Fel. The Super Dash game, despite being a loss, went pretty well. Being a regular Super Dash player myself, I knew to attack Corran first to prevent him from dominating the end game. I killed a 1 shield, 1 hull Corran on turn three with a range 1 shot from Whisper that netted me 4 hits and 1 crit. I made a terrible mistake and completely forget that Dash in vulnerable to range 1 and wound up barrel rolling out of it with Vader... I spent the rest of the game chasing Dash down and ended up losing from taking potshots from Dash. Loss; 0-100
The second game was against RAC & Fel, a match up I was actually looking forward to since I was using Colzet for the fourth or fifth time but had not used his ability. Since Vader was flying at PS 11, I used him to corral Fel where I wanted him. I stripped the shields off of RAC and started pushing damage through with Whisper while keeping Colzet far away and maintaining a Target Lock as often as I could. I ended up using his ability three times, though none of the cards I flipped really made a difference. I ended up killing the Decimator on the last turn with a range 1 shot from Whisper that scored three hits and two crits (this was a common theme for the night ). My opponent had killed Vader earlier in the game, which was my only causality. Win; 65-35
The third game was a fully loaded Oicunn with Fel. This game was spent flying in circles for the most part, with Vader and Fel engaging each other but not really doing anything. Whisper and Colzet chased down the Decimator and Colzet was eventually shot down (my green dice were rolling gak all night, including rolling all blanks from multiple range 3 shots ) On the last turn, the Decimator and Whisper were perpendicular to each other, but I was playing it conservative with Whisper because I didn't want to crash into the Decimator and take damage and stress. He ended up turning away from me leaving Whisper about an 1/8" outside of range 3 and unable to fire, which was a shame because I had a focus and target lock on him and had one hull left. Loss, 0-23
