First playtest tonight of a WW2 set of rules I'm are working on with a view to perhaps publishing next year.

Was a fun game... The Germans got the upper hand, and gained ground by covering their advance with smoke, and getting their LMG teams into positions to lay down heavy suppressing fire, with a large proportion of the British units constantly pinned down, the Germans managed to capture all three objectives for a win.

The British suffered from a bit of bad luck and a failed assault saw them put on the defensive and some truly awful dice rolls stopped their commander rally his men who seemed to sensibly keep their heads down as the German MGs raked the houses with fire. The highlight for the British was the German medic rushing to the aid of the single German sMG42 team and tripping a booby trap as he entered a house which killed him instantly. Sadly for the British one of their men also trod on a mine which gutted a rifle team with several casualties.

Fun game... and a very positive start.

Are the rules going to center around platoon sized actions?

Well I'm certainly interested to know more.

Not gonna say much about the rules, long way to go yet.

The concept is offer a game that plays in a small space, with limited model count for 15mm, 20mm and 28mm figures, last for a couple of hours, is fast and fun but gives a feel for the period and offers the players constant tactical choices to make that reward play in a historical manner.

But overall, hopefully a game that people will enjoy and most WW2 gamers can play without the need to buy any further figures and can get cracking on straight out of the box.

But as I say… long way to go yet.

Sounds right up my alley man.

I've attempted to write platoon plus rules sets in the recent past to varying degrees of success. Some were fun..others just bad. The ones that were fun had some novel ideas but just never quite captured the feel.

Particularly interested in the aspect of limited or smaller space as a standard.

Any whoo. Let me know if you need playtesters.
