Im back after a little hiatus and getting ready for this years armies on parade.

So here is the Mek Tower. The rock was cut from insulation foam and mounted on some MDF. The crane will eventually be moved to that piece that is reaching further out. Thinking of adding a loading doc and a taller tower piece to the top with a massive cannon and maybe a big satellite dish / traktor beam. This pic does not show it well, but the overhanging area on the top will have wood planks added to act as a balcony around the entire structure. Still have a ways to go with the details as this is relally just a frame at the moment. Also thinking of adding a janky elevator on the side but that's a back burner item right now.

Made a little progress today. I added in the wood planks and some extra details to help blend everything together.

I've learned the hard way that covering the pink foam in plaster may not have been the best idea. It gives a nice texture and adds strength, but i'm starting to notice some chips coming off here and there :(

Still not sure what to do with the top. Any critiques would be greatly appreciated!

Looks interesting so far, are you putting anything inside the building up top?

I like it! Yes, it needs something up top. Maybe add some spikes, barricades, pieces of old circuit board, whirly gubbins, etc.

Wow, that's fantastic, especially the rock. Looks too stable at the moment though. More random spars of metal and plating on those supports!

The top of the structure is my main problem right now. I was talking to a friend and he had suggested adding some ork banners / icons. I'm thinking of maybe building a spru tower that's cobbled together with the Mek icon attached (the crossed wrenches). I am also thinking of adding a flight stand to the smoke tower to display my dakka jet for my diorama. Eventually I want to make a bunch of these kinds of "mountains" with bridges and ziplines from one to the other to add a second level to our games.

Grot with a fishing pole sitting on the edge?
Grot smoking a cigarette, leaning against a fuel tank?
Two Nobs fighting, with others watching, while a Mek works in the background?
Lots of stuff you could add up there.
But the easiest thing to do would be to make some patchwork walls/barricades with overlapping bits of card, sprue, etc.

Got a little more work done on this one. I've really been having a love / hate relationship with this project so far. Its been tough tring to getting an ork profile down but I think that moving some of the costruction further down so its not as top heavy has helped.

Thoughts?

I love the rhino hull crane you got going there. You should have it hauling up a dead chimera/rhino/etc.. to be looted.

And any mek worth his teeth would have a teleporta instead of a silly ladder.

I used the other half of the Rhine on the turret on the top. I do have a broken Leman Russ... but i'm not sure if it could handle the weight. Thinking of having the crane hauling shells for the turret at the top. I wanted to add a teleporter or even an elevator but i'm running low on time since I'm trying to push this out before Armies on parade. I'm going to make some small versions of the rock formation later on and have them all interconnected with bridges, ziplines & elevators!

Oh wow, I'd forgotten how awesome this is. A sort of canyon or mountain range covered in these would be spectacularly cool.
