Barring specifically tailoring a list to beat av13/14 do Nids have any reliable options against it, especially against an opponet that plays quite smart and dosent give up side/rear armor shots?
Im thinking LRs, Crons with Av13, having to pop a bunker, Battlewagons etc.
I know carnis can do it but they are slow and can get focused down, zoans with lance is an option but between having to cast, hit and then pen, its a bit hit and miss. Tfexes have a measly 2 shots with poor BS etc.
Everything else seems to be str 6 or less in the Nid army unless as said, its tailored.

Any ideas or tactics against it?

On moon miranda.

For rear-armor 10 vehicles like battlewagons and Leman Russ tanks, close combat is your best bet, as they're critically vulnerable being hit on 3's with only 3 "wounds" and no saves with only their "equivalent' T6 to help them. They are very easy to kill if you get to grips with them.

For stuff like Land Raiders, that's another story, and with Nids your options are kinda limited. Carnifex's will do it in CC, but, as noted, have issues. Tyrannofex's can do it, but aren't terribly efficient at it and are expensive. Zoanthropes are probably your best bet.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Long answer: You could try zoans in numbers, although I don't see them as reliable enough (haven't tried it though tbh). Dealing with av 13/14 is one of the main reasons nid players slap electroshock grubs on anything that can take them. You could consider adrenal glands on fexes (also on dakkafexes) for s10 and more reliable charges.

Short answer: no, not really.

Short answer: Haywire flamers. AV is not a concern and flyrants put the templates where needed easily.

I usually field two fexes with heavy venom cannons and twin linked devourers, along with a flyrant with grubs and another heavy venom cannon and twin linked devourers.

Use the flyrant to get behind armour for rear shots, and the fexes marching up the field with their shots. With the -1 AP for the venom canon you're not blowing up anything in one shot, but you can take out a lot of hull points with a flyrant in the backfield while fexes make their way up the field

Av13/14 is pretty much CC only to really destroy. HVC glance and Pen, but not explode and is not all that accurate or available in enough volume.

Tyrant guard with claws, AG+Rending ravenors and Warriors are good volume choices. Carnifexes still eat AV14 for lunch. Most of our MC's can bust AV 14 in CC.

But for the main AV14 is best worked around when possible.

I run usually 2 or 4 Zoanthropes and 2 flyrants with e-grubs.
The flyrants are the most reliable unit. In addition, they may have warp lance.

carnifexs are great for ripping apart enemy armor. outflank em or drop em in with a tyranocyte. or give them cover with a massive swarm. When they get in to cc with a vehicle that vehicle is dead. I popped a landraider with 2 carnifexs hammer of wrath. they can show up behind key enemy artillery and vaporize it in a single turn. Usually run 2 to 3 dakka fexs and atleast one dakka flyrant. Haywire is useful but its only one shot on a tank and while it has a 1/6 chance of pen i find that using the devourers on infantry is far more effective. the zoanthropes are great if you can hit and if there isnt a librarian in the tank or nearby to deny you on 5s or 4s. Hive guard with s8 homing are pretty good. chance of glance on 6s but they shine when your opponent is hidden out of sight and they have a rear or side armor facing to you. My ork playing friend was not happy about what i did to his battlewagon. Also the table is really big. use it to your advantage. hide in cover(venomthropes have saved my carnifexs many times over) go after weaker targets. make him come to you. better that your opponent has to snapfire to hit you. Distraction carnifex is distracting

Electroshock grubs on everything... Walkrants (I know...), tervigons and Tyrannofexen have been good to me.

Just read on the Tyranid thread... and remembered Hive Guards... poor BS3, but S8 no LoS req and Ignore Cover, the side armor can by hidden, yet you can still hit it if you are facing it (illogically) even through a wall.

It's something that can help, but not a solution.

If you have an extreme and specific problem with dense parking lots or Land Raiders, there is an argument to be made for Shockcannon Hive Guard in a Tyrannocyte (or even advancing under a Spore Cloud in a pinch). There are definitely better choices, but they seem to be a little more reliable (and cheaper) than a massive deep striking Zoanthrope brood.

Egrubs are without a doubt the go-to weapon though. I really hope that eventually the Trygons get some much needed love. They are supposed to be heavy assault units that bypass enemy defences and then smash apart buildings and tanks from behind the lines. It would be nice if they didn't suck!

I agree, I said they can help, not that they are a solution.

A walkrent..... So like a more expensive fex who's worse in combat?

I'm just trolling, all kidding aside, props for using one of those things.

Yup! Fluffy lists for me. Warriors, too!
