Subject: Your predictions here on the fluff for the new Tau K'chn Sink Battlesuit
Nah the XV8 was stupid. Why wasn't that on a drone platform? They've never been practical. Just mount its guns on a drone simple.
Then if we do need armored soldiers power armor is the way to go. Sleek power armor though not bulky.
I mean I was okay with the Tau using an XV8, so what does it matter if they have a suit the size of a titan? They're all impractical. There's also the cool factor and damn those new suits are cool. So it gets my pass.
One giant suit or a thousand large one they would all be stupidly easy to shoot and kill from XV8 to the Titan. Nothing makes the XV8 more practical since its thousand or so XV8 would be destroyed IRL just as easily as one big Supremacy Armor.

I agree with them dam legs, I mean they look just so stupid. But at least the legs now have some structural support under them when he's firing from the looks of things. If he was firing without legs he would flip I suppose from the recoil fire from the rockets with momentum (Force x Distance from pivot) as I see it as the the body producing the anti grav stuff as the pivot unless he had thrusters on the back to counter this.
Edit: I'm not saying I hate it, its making me consider getting back into tau over starting ultramarines (stopped due to the hate) I mean I love these suits after Forge World replied with theirs that was awesome, but dam them legs annoy me in the back of my mind

I'm perfectly fine with Tau being the "anime giant robot" faction and all the impracticality that comes with that. I just wish whoever at GW that's coming up with these designs had seen something more recent than Robotech.
The Hazard suit design that FW came up with is great, but I feel like we've been going backwards since then. Every suit since then has been chunkier and blockier, and looks less like the evolution of a Tau design and more like the lovechild of a mekboy and a techpriest.

Fair enough. I disagree but it's only an opinion. I like how utilitarian it looks. No arms just the weapons. I think a tank would have been equally as cool but it's alright.

Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may just have a new Taurox (bit of an irony in the naming).
Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

Also, thank got it's BS4. I'ts nice to see that FW at least thinks there should be some middle ground between the best of the best, and the basic trooper in in the tau, unlike GW.
10W T9 2+ 4++. Much rage will be had. . And it halves deathblow, so it's even harder to kill with the D.

Only 100% grade A reliable rumors allowed. To be posted on BOLS later.
it was designed by a guy who wishes that his tau werent so reliant on a giant energy cannon gimmick, but failed miserably. i dont think this vehicle is capable of being knocked over via normal means. too me this looks like a suit that would need to get pulled down by a tank with some chains, or blown up where it stands, or knocked over by something bigger than it. if it were to fall over naturally im thinking that the earth caste would likely have field repair teams on station to help it right itself.
in reality the vehicle is hopelessly impractical and is modeled after the urbanmech in all likelyhood; a battletech mech that has no real arms at all instead boasting nothing but chassis mounted weapons, or alternatively perhaps a weird marriage between that and the catapult a glorified field artillery piece on legs
Meltabomb to the ankle. Then it falls over sideways.

That's ok. Its also a transformer so it just goes into Tank mode

Harriticus wrote: The fluff excuse will be after fighting the major powers of the Galaxy, the Tau realize they needed platforms with heavier firepower. The good thing with Tau is they behave like modern/rational militaries and constantly introduce new weapons, so you never have to retcon stuff into the past to explain its presence.
But GW did that anyway with the Riptide. Oh and with Shadowsun.

Gamgee wrote: Uh you know lightyears is a measurement of distance and not time right?
It's a measurement of both, as "Light Speed" is the universe's hard cap on velocity.
Any gun that takes a year to hit its target is an utterly pointless weapon. Not that you could feasibly get even close to 0.5 lightyears per year within the known bounds of physics.
Unless you're firing it at a distant solar system. Warfare at that scale is not yet conceivable to us, because we don't (yet) have any enemies that far away.
Just wait. One thing we haven't seen is the ability to adjust the revolution of a planet around its star. We are pretty damned good at using mathematical models to predict the same, however. So, with a large enough railgun and an AI to crunch the numbers, a munition capable of traversing inter-stellar distances and hitting a planet-sized target as it swings around its star is not unfeasible.

I actually did that for cheap-o scratch build suit proxies when I realized that Plasma-Missile-Multi was one of the better generalist setups for 5th edition and was short on non-specialists/dumb combo suits
