So, looks like there's still some hope here?

New supplement - print or digital?

John Austin wrote:
Digital - plan at the moment is; free (although that might change...) 1st edition supplements to co-incide with new releases until we're in a position to run with 2nd edition...

Page Count and Content hints?

John Austin wrote:
I can say that I stopped typing at exactly 6,666 words... seemed bloody appropriate... Expect; new fluff, two new OoB (Home Guard and Templar) , 3 scenarios linked to a mini-campaign, new units (made from old stock I'm afraid... we're not seeing new toys beyond Mr. Smythe till next year I'm afraid... but I might just have some WiP shots to ping up when the Supplement goes live!) - was a giggle to work on! Three more planned for next year...

So good news in there (new content) and some not so good (no new minis outside of Mr. Smythe), but I'm happy to see SOMETHING for one of my favorite games of all time - in one of my favorite settings!

See... I don't like SotRII... I'm pushing for 'Secrets of the Third Reich 2nd Edition'... like 'old skool' Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition'... 2nd Edition is at the forefront of (at least!) my thinking at the moment - and we want to do it right. One of the reasons (as far as I can read between the lines) for the withdrawel from the Kickstarter was that the team couldn't see all the things they wanted to do being funded (this is me infering here... rather than spouting any sort of facts...). Second Edition is going to happen

"Second Edition is going to happen" - hell yeah!

Yay. Look forward to seeing what they do with it.
I always liked the setting and game, it never really got the attention it deserved.

This game would really take off IF they could also give their model line a serious 21st century update like what CMON has done with their Dark Age line.

Very much chicken and egg there, CMON have plenty of other revenue streams from their work as a publisher and distributor, so could afford to get a bunch of resculpts even if they were a significant outlay

I'm not so sure todays westwind has the capital to do the same

Westwind has had several successful kickstarters that funded other lines that continue to do well I believe.

I think they could take advantage of new technologies to release new models a bit at a time, instead of one giant burst.

3D mastering has come way down in pricing. As has 3D sculpting costs.

From the latest West Wind e-mail shot:

'Secrets' our alternative WWII game is progressing well with Second Edition rules and some really excellent miniatures planned for release this year.

Vague, and limited, but at this point...I'll take it!

Along with the chance to pick up a lot of the INCURSION KS stuff in metal - thankfully!

Are the mechs still available?

The game is a bag of awesome in a box, BTW.

Love the sniper set, and have several batches of trhe figures, as well as the Incursion stuff...

One of the best rules sets on the subject out there.

As far as I know 'yes'. All the old models are still available.
I can't wait for the 2nd Ed rules set myself.

This could be interesting. I wonder how much work it'd take to use figures across rulesets from DUST to Warlord's game to Tannhauser to this one?

Not much?

And given that much of the SoTR miniature line DESPERATELY needs updating, that's probably not a bad way to go about it?

And I say that as a huge fan of the game too.

But sadly I don't think West Wind will be putting any resources into rescultping - which probably isn't a bad idea given how many other ways there are to get WWII minis.

BUT, I hope they spend appropriately and get some really good sculpts going for 'new stuff'.

What's this?!?

There's some life here after all?!?

Why yes, yes there is!

West Wind Productions

Merry Christmas to everyone. As of yesterday we finished the Forged in Battle Kickstarter fulfillment. Having to manufacture an additional 250,000 miniatures has left us little time to devote to, well just about anything else really. That's not to say that I haven't been a busy bee. So in the New Year expect to see more Weird WWII like this. Meet the new Panzer Mech! This is the production model resin and pewter. Its the first of our new 3D print models expect a lot more.

OOOhhh I was down talking to this guy in Westwind HQ and OMGW he show me these new new shiny bits he even let me take photos too there was something British.... something German oh and even something Japanese......Mr Austin what do you think of these rather nice looking bits???????

And a free PDF campaign download!

http://www.westwindproductions.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=59_83&product_id=1258

I hope West Wind gets back behind SoTR and gets us that SoTR2 rulebook and associated miniature releases too!

Please!

Oh, I like the Crow Dogs. They also come with a shaman and a wendigo for extra weirdness. Those will go well with the Modiphius Pathfinders for a bit of extra mix and match.

The Tesla cannon is another great addition to their range and would look good mounted on the back of a truck.

You might be in for an unpleasant surprise there - I was very disappointed with the quality of a lot of that stuff.

Made me wish I'd gone for more in metal, to be honest.

I wonder if I could fine enough miniatures with a theme similar to the crow Dogs to do an IG regiment.
