Just curious if anyone thought that there was a reason to not take it. Same number of CC attacks as the sword, same special effects, but also Str 9 when used as a ranged weapon, which is pretty decent. All for the measly point cost of them, I'm just curious if there is a reason I should equip the two jetseers I'm looking at with swords.

I usually end up taking them on every psyker I take with Eldar. The only exception is I take only 4 or 5 in a seer council just to keep points down a little and 7-12 str 9 shots at something is a little overkill.

I'm thinking my 3 farseers, and 3 warlocks, then leave the rest of the locks with swords.

Remember if you use it in the shooting phase, you cant use it in the assault phase!

Why not?

For the points they cost, singing spears are great. Like the others said, only time you don't take them is in a large group to keep points down.

My $0.02, which since 1992 has rounded to nothing. Take with salt.

Rulebook, page 41, second paragraph wrote:Some weapons can be used in different ways, representing different power settings or types of ammo. Some weapons can be used in combat as well as shooting. Where this is the case, there will be a separate line in the weapon’s profile for each, and you can choose which to use each turn.
This rule limits a large number of weapons (mostly CW Eldar ones) to using either a melee profile, or a ranged profile per player turn.

Rod of the Covenant (necrons) and singing spears are the 2 I encounter most often and almost universally I have to inform the player about this rule.
