Nothing too fancy here but here is about a starter set's worth of ships (one big ship added, 15 of the tiny frigates not done). The paint scheme is a simple two tone grey followed by a wash, drybrush, detailing, and edging. I unfortunately dont have an airbrush so no fancy lighting effects in this fleet. The scheme needed a little something more to accentuate the colors so I dug through my pile of decals and came up with the closest things to the UNSC eagle and title I could find. I planned on working on anoth 9 frigates this weekend but ironically my carrying case is completely full with this fleet so I'll probably hold off until I can find a regular opponent.

Thanks! The greys are alot more different from each other in person than the lighting and camera used for the pics show but it works for me. If we got in a game, it might have to be the first ever UNSC vs UCM game in the world!

I love that you've got both U.N. Spacy and the Imperial Aquila on these. I imagine you have some very interesting head canon...

I wish that were the case but details are alot more mundane and practical! I wanted some decals to liven up the purposely drab paint scheme and because ships usually have them in Halo. There are no UNSC Eagle insignia decals that I know of nor are there any UNSC name ones. I picked the closest that I had in my collection.

UNSC Eagle Insignia => Imperial Aquila

UNSC title => UNSPACY

Fair enough. Have you considered printing your own decals? Regardless, they look good and the decals look perfectly fitting.

I have tried printing my own (as well as buying printed ones that aren't "cut out" but rather all on a sheet) and haven't been happy with the results personally. I've got more UNSC that I could paint and I decided to prune my carrying case to try and make room for both UNSC and Covenant in there. I'm just not sure what to do with the covies paint-wise. My initial idea was to try and do a "tron" style black with yellow glow pattern (with Zentraedi decals since they're also yellow) but I'm not to keen on the results below along with the initial test version of my UNSC paint scheme (slightly changed in the final version).

The yellow is brighter in person than the pics show but I'm not a fan of how busy it is with the decals and how uneven the recessed "glow" is. The "busy" decal fix is easy (use less!) but the "glow" fix isn't. Since I don't have an airbrush, I tried using sequential watered down yellow washes to get into the recessed areas but it's very uneven. I'm not sure if I'll do it the same way or switch to something else entirely. Another idea I had was to just do the covies in a Robotech Zentraedi scheme.

Thanks! The models are great. The sprues are well thought out and go together well with alot of three dimensional parts sticking out with recesses underneath due to smart design. The bases and stems on the other hand aren't. I've had a base crack and a stem break trying to get the stem out of it after putting it in and the stems either just barely go in or "click" fully in making them really difficult to get out. The same is true to a lesser extent on the side that goes into the models. It's absolutely no big deal if you plan on storing them completely based but it gets to be a pain if you want to change the squadrons (like adding a frigate to a bigger ship to make it the "supported" version) or store them in a confined space like me.

Well, I finished up my Zentraedi themed Covenant fleet. I tried to incorporate all the main colors (green, black, yellow, and grey) but had trouble putting the grey in. There is usually a trim of black across the middle of Zentraedi ships that "blooms" into a grey area but I couldn't really find a good place to do it.

I tried putting a grey area on the top, on the back "wings", and just on various struts underneath. The biggest model, the ORS cruiser, has a spot for it on the top front but I wanted a consistent design throughout and didn't really find one so I decided to just accentuate a few minor fins in grey.

Normally I overcoat a few times with gloss spray and then do a final dull coat to take off the shine (too many layers of dull leads to frosting!)... but, as a nod to the usually metallic reflective Covenant color schemes, I decided to leave it shiny. I think it's a nice juxtapostion to my dull coated utilitarian brick UNSC ships. As usual, if you want to zoom in, just click on the pic and it'll take you to the gallery where you can do that.

Freaking awesome.

You could pull an Iroquis though and do some warstripes or cano on your next set of UNSC ships. While against UNSC regs, it does happen.

Thanks! While I haven't seen camo on the ships, it would definitely look cool regardless of the in fluff efficacy. I have seen various folks put stripes including tiger stripes on their UNSC. I'll probably leave mine ultilitarian two tone grey with decals though since they're already done for the moment. I don't think the Admiralty would mind if I did though... anything that raises the morale of the troops in the dark days of the Covenant War is welcome!

Thanks. It's a bit obscure in this day and age but I like it.
