Please let me know just how close the colours are, as much as I'd love to get a can of their primer, I've been stung one time too many by their assurances that the colours would match, only for it to be a gakky primer.

Two tutorials about doing a black power armor...
I'm tempted to use dark reaper color but I don't find a vallejo equivalent

New video posted. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be enough contrast between the Mechanicus Standard Grey and the Thunderhawk Blue to make an effective scheme for the tabletop. The scheme on the Wyvern is much better IMHO.

Interesting tutorials and what-not, but I will avoid subscribing to something like this in the future. I feel pretty dumb.

Hopefully they do a tutorial on infantry camo. I've been having trouble with painting my imperial guard fatigues in a camo pattern, and would like to see Duncan or Emma talk about it.

It's a good one, plus it's a technique that can be applied to other stuff as well.

Shoot, I've been out of the hobby for so long, that all these urban and black armor are giving me a real drive to get some models done up. Looks like my guardsmen are going to once again become City Fighters.

The snow base links to the Marble effect.

That marble is great. The snow is pretty crappy.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

So we have multiple videos about painting and, while pretty well done, I'm more curious about the supplemental stuff that was supposed to be done.

I really would have liked some tutorials that were more in depth rather than simple 2 step edge high lights.. Last I checked advent calandra still have the 25th as a spot to open, not sure why they wouldn't just post two videos or have a bot make the upload on Christmas..
No use being disappointed, this was expected from GW.
Also not a fan of Emma's on camera direction.

Quite good painting tips and even some gems in there. Really happy with this initiative.

The first part of the Word Bearers armour is already covered in the White Dwarf Weekly some time ago, but the second part that goes into the astral markings and the scripture is a nice addition though.

Yeah. They should have not done anything at all right? I mean, they can't disappoint you if they don't do anything at all.

I found the series to be a nice change of pace and checked on the videos daily. I found myself actually buying some of the textured paints as a result.

Or they could have done full tutorials like they have done prior to this. But just about every advent calendar tutorial is: base coat, "black line", highlight, maybe additional highlight. All of course just done with other color schemes, that basic formula is easy to replicate on anything, it's not needed to be shown in various colors.
Now showing off different techniques or having complete and more in depth tutorials would have been great. Don't mistake me being unimpressed with lazy painting videos as not being great up that they even bothered to do it for good PR. It's great they did, just wish they did more with it.

Almost half of them weren't that, though.
Remember they did:
1. Power/Force Weapons using blending for the effect
2. Harlequin Diamonds for some freehand
3. Volcanic Bases as an advanced basing technique
4. Stubble
5. Urban Tank Camo for some more, if more simple, freehand
6. Ork Checks and Dags for some more simple-ish freehand
7. Urban Bases
8. Marble effects
9. Snow bases
10. Sponge Weathering

That's pretty decent since a majority of their intended viewer base are beginners.

It isn't going to be taken to PM. You made a stance, in public, so you need to defend it, in public.

They just posted 24 tutorials in a very short time. Expecting 15-30 minute "how to build a reaver titan" is abit much. As stated, most of them are not the same. You're wrong. Merry Christmas Eve.

They also posted the Archaon tutorial back on the 2nd. It clocked in at an hour and a half...
