4. Player who attempts to seize initiative.
5. BEFORE ANY MODEL IS MOVED, THE OWNING PLAYER, WHOS TURN IT IS, MUST HAVE HIS CLOCK RUNNING. The penalty for not starting the clock before turn begins: That player will deduct 5 minutes from his overall play time on his clock.
6. (example. It is Johns Turn. John shoots Bob’s unit of tyrannids. Bob takes a cover save and removes models. John’s timer is still running.
7. (Example. It is Johns Turn. John declares a charge on Bob’s unit of Tyrannids. John stops his timer. Bob’ immediately starts his timer, Fires overwatch, applies wounds. John Rolls armor saves. Bob’s timer is still running. Once models have been removed, Bob stops his timer and John starts his so he can continue his turn.
8. (Example: It is Johns Turn. John has a higher imitative against Bob’s Tyrannids. John goes first in close combat. His timer is still running. After all attacks, Damage, and models removed, it is now Bob’s Turn to fight in close combat. Although it is still Johns Turn, John will stop his clock and Bob will start his. Bob will now attack John’s models in the Assault phase.

Death Clock, when a player can stop his timer:
1. When His opponent declares and over watch
2. When His opponent Fights back in Close combat.
3. When his opponent interrupts his turn for a rules question.
4. When he, or his opponent, asks for a judge. (Models MAY NOT be moved when the timer has stopped. Dice MAY NOT be rolled when the timer is stopped.
5. If the game is interrupted for any reason.

Out of time:
1. Once a player runs out of time on his timer. He may not move any models. He may not over watch.
2. It is considered dice down for all purposes for a player who runs out of time.

That sounds cool hehe. I can imagine my opponent running out of time meanwhile I get to keep shooting and assaulting him hehehe.

I do what the voices in my wifes head say...

So, let me get this straight: your clock runs while your opponent is rolling saves, so they're free to take as long as possible to roll those saves and burn even more of your time. And if you want to ask a rule question you have to spend some of your clock time, giving your opponent an incentive to claim things they shouldn't be entitled to and dare you to spend time challenging them. Thank you for giving yet another demonstration of why chess clocks don't work in 40k.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

@ Andy Yes you are on the list.

@ Peregrine the vast majority of people rolling saves do not take that long. I have playtested this, it worked very well and is in fact very viable. If you had read it completely then you would have found that if you are challenged by a rule, then you stop your clock.
If you don't think it is a good Idea and want to continue playing the standard 40K tournament format then no problem. We just want to try something new.

That's a rather poor strategy. If I was playing this format I'd spend an hour rolling my first save and auto-win because my opponent runs out of time.

If you had read it completely then you would have found that if you are challenged by a rule, then you stop your clock.

I did read it, and that's exactly the problem I pointed out. Stopping your clock implies that your opponent's clock immediately starts running (since that's how chess clocks work), so the player making the rule challenge has to spend some of their time to resolve it. Unless you meant that neither player's clock runs during rule disputes?

If you don't roll your save quickly, your opponent can stop his own clock under "game interrupted for any other reason."
