I always name HQs or unique models

My Warpsmith is named Boros and one of my Chosen Champions is named "Vedden, First Among Chosen". Sometimes Vedden gets to lead his own Secondary CAD with some Cultists so I can squeeze in 7 Heavy Supports into an 1850 list (Purge+CAD). But only If I can't run my Typhon. If the Typhon gets to touch the Table, he's just leading one of my three Chosen Squads.

EDIT: Also, the Squad of Plague Marines that accompany my Warpsmith (using the Legion Breacher models) are called the Iron Circle because I wanted something cool for him as a Retinue like the Primarch had and I just couldn't think of anything else.

There is one guy here who has a lot of his characters named and has created some and given pages of fluff and stuff. I've read it and its awesome but that definitely is not encompassed in my skill set so I have not. Aside from naming the squiggoths....

Yes and no. My lord commissar is called Yorkie.
My regiment have a fluff book, and a group writing thread on Dakka named and fluffed one squad individually.
But as I field on average 80-90 infantry in a 1000pt list, I don't name everyone.

Love the dedication to the whole chapter and using others models for the different positions.

But to answer the question I'm still coming up with a name for my Marine Captain, however I have a Warboss who I recently named for a hopefully upcoming campaign. He's going to be a red Ork named Gorblood the Spilla.

Come to think of it, I did name my two trukks. My one trukk that I strapped some rockets to and removed the passenger is named Da Jumpa while the other that I slapped some horns and a big skull on the front I named Da Hunta. It's simple- Da Hunta hunts and Da Jumpa jumps.

HQ's typically get named and any model that happens to perform extraordinarily well or terrible.

All of my characters are named, and I try to name the tanks as well.

So far, both of my armies are based on 'Forge the Narrative' moto and came as the product of me writing fiction etc. Therefore, both armies do have named characters and fluff story to complement them.

I want to give them more Spanish names due to the naming conventions of most of the official Crimson Fists characters. I have been looking at common Spanish and Latin American names. I am going to start putting back banners on my Tactical Squads (even though I never run them) and possibly my Sternguard Squads. In the future, I hope to have at least the Squad Sergeants named. If I don't watch myself, I may end up in the same predicament that Nevelon is in and have more Captains than I should. I love making characters. Luckily, I am branching out a little with Librarians and Chaplains. I will probably get a Techmarine if and when the ever make one in plastic. This doesn't even include my Blood Angels army :(

I name after players who play with me in my community and after friends. Some have other unique names.

I have more than a few. I named my tanks a few warlike names, my one Ven. Dreadnought's name is Gerald. The others name is FredFredBurger. One of my Deathwing Termies name is Goldilocks due to the paintjob and the others name is Whitey Bulger, due to the paintjob, one of my tacticals name is Lloyd the Lobotomized SM because while i was cutting him off his sprue i shaved the top of his head off! I have a few others but i think ive said enough
