So, I had absolutely no willpower when I went to the LGS tonight and bought every ship from wave 8 except the Ghost, despite only really wanting the TIE Advanced Prototype...
However, Dengar is a pilot I'm eager to try now after going through everything. I'm curious though as to what other people have been thinking they might run him like and with what ships as wingmen? It might not be that viable, but I'm thinking a 'Super Dengar' build might be fun...
Dengar w/ PTL, Title, Glitterstim, Unhinged Astromech, EU, K4 Droid (58)
Same points as Super Dash, though with one less attack die and less maneuverability since Dengar DOES care about hitting asteroids. Not sure if Gonk would be a better choice for crew, though I think I'd rather put it on a ship I intend to soak up fire, maybe on a generic Hound's Tooth pilot for a wingman? I dunno. Glitterstim might also be a bit weird with PTL, but it seemed like it could work. And of course, R5-P8 is quite tempting but I really like the added greens. GAH! So much to think about...
So yeah, what are people thinking? Any other Punishing One builds that seem like they might be interesting/fun?

Dengar also works well as a super-torpedo-bomber:
Dengar - Punishing One, Deadeye, Recon Specialist, R4 Agromech, Guidance Chips, Extra Munitions, Torpedo type (Plasma, Proton or Ion) to taste.
anyone daring to joust is likely to get blown away in one turn - and you've still got a PS9 turret with a white segnor's loop even once the tubes are empty.

The build you listed was essentially the way I plan on running him. I can't decided what to run with him, though. Maybe a bunch of Z-95s?
I've also been tempted to run the PS 7 one (forget his name) and running Dengar as a crew member, since I really like his ability.

I tried him last night as basically a scum version of SuperDash, worked out okay. The Unhinged is pretty nice, as it gives you a green right turn (so you're not entirely predictable).
Dengar (33)
Push the Limit (3)
K4 Security Droid (3)
Unhinged Astromech (1)
Glitterstim (2)

This is by no means competitive, but I may try it some time anyway:

Hull Upgrade (3)
Punishing One (12)

Bossk (2)

Hound's Tooth (6)

I found the Title to be over-costed. 12 points for 1 extra shot on a ship that will likely not be around after turn 5....The extra points would be better spent on making him a torpedo boat with some good support crew with the remaining used to beef up your support ships.
Dengar+Adaptability (just to to get the drop on Whisper)+Plasma Torp+Extra Munitions+K4+Unhinged+Chimps (42)
2x Hired gun+Dorsal Turret+Plasma Torp+Extra Munitions+Unhinged+Chimps. (29 ea)
You can switch the dorsal Turrets out for a single TLT
Another option is to replace K4 with Tactician and Boba Fett. Last night I was able to Fett Palp off his shuttle. The aces fell apart after that.
The PS4 Ys will give you the drop on the 3-Scouts and after you've dumped your Torps your still running 3 turrets.
YMMV. Check your local Meta.

I don't think the title is over-costed, all things considered. Dengar should be firing twice a turn in most cases with his pilot ability, so your paying 12 points for two attack dice, technically. It puts it on par with the Falcon in terms of cost to firepower, but it doesn't have the same durability the Falcon has, that's for sure. More maneuverable, and with fun Scum tricks from mechs and illicits, though.
I think I might try the 'Super Dengar' build with 3x Z-95'S, two of which would have advanced homing missiles and guidance chips next week. Zuckuss did cross my mind too, though. I'll have to play around and see what I can come up with that might work.
Also I edited the title of the thread to be a blanket 'Punishing One' builds...

.
I think the Title is more or less correctly costed, and like I've said before it's nice to have the choice of not using it, plus it feeds into the Torp / G-Chip plan by making the Chip add a Crit rather than a hit.
My initial thoughts are for a Fat Dengar with Z support, first draft is something like;
Dengar (33) Deadeye (1), Extra Munitions (2), Proton Torpedoes (4) , K4 Security Droid (3), Unhinged Astromech (1), Punishing One (12), Engine Upgrade (4)
3 x Z95
This comes to 96 which leaves so wiggle room for either Glitterstim and/or a Feedback array or two

I think my first try is going to be a Mando Merc build + IG88B but when I get my hands on the JumpMaster I might try the same mando with Dengar. Something like this:
JumpMaster 5000: · Dengar (33)
Deadeye (1)
Proton Torpedoes (4)
Extra Munitions (2)
Guidance Chips (0)
· Bossk (2)
· Punishing One (12)
R4 Agromech (2)
Firespray-31: Mandalorian Mercenary (35)
Push The Limit (3)
Adv. Homing Missiles (3)
Guidance Chips (0)
· Boba Fett (1)
· Slave I (0)
Extra Munitions (2)
So with Dengar, take a focus, proton somebody with a TL, then if you miss and they choose to shoot back at you, they get a fully modified 3 primary gun. Not only that but Bossk + R4 sets up the next turn when you spend both Target Lock and Focus, granting you a third TL to use with your primary when they're out of your arc and you're using the turret. And mitigates a turn of keeping that stress if you want to turn right.

So I'm leaning towards the following to try this week for my first game with the Punishing One:
Dengar w/ PTL, Title, EU, Unhinged Astro, K4 Droid (56)
2x Y-Wings [Syndicate Thugs] w/ Dorsal Turrets, Unhinged Astros (44)
100 on the dot, and I get two relatively maneuverable support ships to help Dengar out. Not sure if I should put the titles on them, though. Would help with damage output but I do like the option to fire with a turret.
Originally had Autoblaster turrets but they're difficult to pull off, even with the added greens from the unhinged. I did get Glitterstim on Dengar that way, though. Hmm...

Even at PS9, being able to use a Focus is still handy as you lets you save the Lock for re-rolling the Torpedo dice, nothing more depressing than fluffing with limited shot weapons, also means if you don't need the lock you can use it on Dengars revenge shot ability

Last night I had a game in my local league. It flew way better than I thought, and it was the most fun I've had with Scum in awhile. Dengar - K4 Security Droid - Unhinged Astromech - Push the Limit - Engine Upgrade - Glitterstim - Punishing One Title 4-LOM - Zuckuss - Tractor Beam - Mist Hunter - Push the Limit - Fire Control System - Glitterstim Came out to 98 points, and it was boss. The Mist Hunter was surprisingly agile for a heavy fighter, and Dengar flew across the board like it was nothing, usually getting free Target Locks and jumping out of Arc.

The popular list right now is:
Contracted Scout 25

The Alpha strike is nasty and they each have two shots. GUidance chips gives an extra damage and R4 with give you a target lock. You should do a lot of damage. Then its nascar turrets.

Go figure. I thought that 3 K-wings with TLT was the cheesiest list in this game. New waves bring so many new things!

I was at two store championships. One had 30 people and the other 21. In both, I had the only TIE swarm list. Heck in this last store championship (after wave 8 release) of 21 lists, I was one of only 3 imperial players.

Well, I don't know what to tell you aside from the last tournament being that most people wanted to try out the new ships, and a lot of people feel as though Imperial players got shafted with the most recent wave. But most of the big builds (3 Jumpmasters, 3 K-wings, 2 Ghosts) are dealt with easily by Swarm lists. So, people are probably just oblivious.

That was my experience as well at a tourney last weekend. Very few Rebel players, TIE swarms when flown correctly rocked, and the rest was a smattering of Scum ranging from 4 TLT lists to 3 U-boats or YV-666 with attending support ships. It was the new hotness rather than performance at all costs, I found. Older lists were closer to the top, honestly.
Not a single Khiraxz or Scyk, though, I wonder why. There was also a single TAP Inquisitor, which was paired with a swarm, so he performed well. Apparently, if you can pilot him right, he's a good anti-Soontir.

He's just delicate. If you've got him in position to fire his ordnance, I feel like you've exposed him and he might die soon. Again, I'm sure that flown correctly, he'll be able to evade arcs and wait until the right moment to set up a good shot.

So I tried out the Dengar/2x Y-Wing build I listed earlier, to mixed success. I was against a TAP/2x Interceptor list (Carnor, Soontir, and the Quiz) which is a hard match up when everything has AT against my turrets. I lost but it came down to Soontir vs Dengar, and I just could NOT roll evades or focus results on my defense dice.
Dengar is a lot of fun to fly. Whereas Dash wants to use his mobility to stay at the range 2-3 mark, Dengar wants to get into range 1 and it was refreshing to be able to be aggressive with a big-based ship with that kind of mobility. His ability actually scored me a kill on Carnor when my opponent fired against Dengar at range 1 after I had already attacked and got 2 hull damage through. Not sure why he didn't hold off on attacking though, he could have gotten another turn out of Carnor I'm sure...
Dorsal turrets were...okay? On Y-wings they pretty much just give it a 360 degree primary weapon, and it's hard to gauge their effectiveness when the entire opponent's squadron has AT, but I think they have potential. I'll have to play around with them again. Probably will give them the title next time as well.
All in all, I found the Jumpmaster to be a blast to fly, and I think it's probably my favourite Scum ship right now. Not sure it'll be for me but I am intrigued by all the ordnance builds I've been seeing, so maybe I'll try a list with Dengar and a scout to see how I like it. Never been a huge fan of ordnance but it could be interesting.

I have to agree. With Engine Upgrade and Push the Limit, getting a free Target Lock from K4 Security Droid, it's the most fun ship I've flown in awhile.

How did you find Zuckuss as a wingman btw? I'm not comfortable with two-ship lists quite yet, but Zuckuss and Dengar or Dengar and an ordnance Scout are probably the two builds I try next (this is the first wave I'm actually debating buying a second of each large ship...). I feel like Zuckuss with VI might provide an interesting combo with his tractor beam, allowing Dengar to put even more hurt on a ship if I hit it with Zuckuss first and lower it's agility.

I don't think Zuckuss cuts the mustard. Same reason you don't see Dash + Keyan or Dash + Ten Numb and nothing else. It's too fragile. One B-wing/Y-wing frame isn't all that tough. Even with evade upping the durability a bit.
Might try 4-LOM with Experimental Interface and Gonk. Dash + Miranda works okay because she brings regen and control to the table. 4-LOM misses out on the turret but doesn't have to shoot something to regenerate. Automatically Appended Next Post: G-1A Starfighter: · 4-LOM (27)

Putting that many upgrades on 4-LOM makes me a little uncomfortable but between sensor Jammer, evade, cloak and Gonk, he *should* stay alive long enough to get full use from most of them.
And if they chase down 4-LOM to burn through his regen, Dengar swoops in and Punishes them (hehe)

I think I might actually give the following a try at some point just for a laugh and to try out the generic Scout.
4x Binayre Pirates w/ Concussion Misses, Guidance Chips (64)
Contracted Scout w/ Deadeye, Rec. Spec, Extra Munitions, Plasma Torps, R4 Agromech, Guidance Chips (36)
I feel like it has potential to actually work though, at least in terms of alpha striking...
