Time for today's update..................





First thing to share is the completed touch-ups on the wheels and completed hull/turret details:














Next, I spot varnished the vehicle. After the 'Ardcoat dried, it was on to the transfers and the sealing of said transfers.

Tonight's update for you guys.




I got this kit in the mail today. Found it for cheap on Ebay.











I also started working on the camo for the Rhino and second PAC/RAT.








Next was a coat of Krylon matte on the Panzer II:








After the Krylon matte dried good, I applied a wash of Vallejo white, and then the Citadel Valhallan Blizzard, for the winter effects.









After all that dried after a few hours, I applied a light coat of Krylon clear glaze for further winter effects, and for a final sealant on the model. I'm happy to say that this project is now COMPLETE.

Very much like the camo pattern on the repurposed panzers- great winter scheme. And I've been meaning to pick up (or crib from) one of those Lorraine schleppers for awhile- I look forward to seeing what you make of it!

As for the Lorraine 38L, not much fancy stuff will be done to it. And I'm planning on getting one of the artillery observation post version soon.


I've hatched a scheme where these two vehicles will be part of a Bombard battery. Lore states that these things require their own additional support elements because of the size of the gun and caliber of the shells. So, hopefully after the first of the year, I can get a Bombard and Trojan from Forge World. I will use the VBCP as the required transport (fluff-wise) for the Bombard's crew, And of course, the artillery observation post will be for the battery commander.



Oh, and before I forget, I got in some more Eisenkern Stormtroopers in today. The twenty man boxed set this time, instead of just the ten figure set.

UPDATE TIME.





I got in some paint that I was running low on. And the detail brush I ordered from GW also came in.









On another note, I got my resin crew parts from Mad Robot and Forge World cleaned up.







Since the last post, I finished the camo on the Mark 1b Rhino. And I finished the detailing and pin washing:

















I also finished the basic camo paint work on the PAC/RAT Mobile Gun System...............

I also started the paint work on the Patlabor AV-X Type Zero. However, just as with the Gundam Sandrock, this will be an "as I go along" project.

Now for a little blast from the past. Here is the back of the kit's box, covered with GW/Citadel advertisements (including long OOP games from Games Workshop). The inside of the box has adverts too, with kits from 40k Rogue Trader and Warhammer Fantasy.

The big yellow Games Workshop logo we all know and love was the same back in the 80's. And a reminder of the glory days, hopefully being revisited now that Kirby isn't top dog anymore.

Tonight, I finished assembling the Predator. Really all that is left is the painting, transfers, and any add-ons (like stowage). I'll probably skip the Hunter-Killer Missile on this one. I don't wanna mar these sleek, classic lines too much.












Finally, the spot varnishing, transfers, and sealing on the Mark 1b Rhino. It's mostly done, except for the tactical symbols I want to use, which are part of the next Tamiya Panzer II kit I have on order. Then it will be on to the matte coating with Krylon. I want to stick with the same tac symbols to stay consistent with the Chimera CCSV. After the matte coating, it will be on to the weathering and winter effects. Then, she will be done.

I did have two or three transfers break a little on me. But I basically said "screw it" and kept on truckin'. The mess-ups will most likely be covered by Valhallan Blizzard anyway.

Quickie update for tonight..............



SUPPLY DROP. I needed some new No. 11 blades and I got another kit in today.












The first coat of Abaddon Black painted on the bulk of the wheels on the second RAC/RAT.









I painted the connection piece in Citadel Evil Sunz Scarlet.








The second coat applied to the wheels:









The second coat of Russ Grey was applied to the front of the AV-X Type Zero's shield:







Due to Ma's time in nursing, and the Old Man's hospice care in his last days, we have a ton of unused syringes (without needles) laying around. We mostly use them to give liquid meds to pets, or for liquid application for crafts nowadays. But this one made for nice mounts for the extra weapons that came with the Cobra S.N.A.K.E.







Using the packaging card from the hand saw I bought a while back, I sealed off the hollow areas in the arms.










I decided to basecoat the S.N.A.K.E. by hand rather than using a rattle can, with Citadel Abaddon Black. The leg units get the first treatment..............

Tonight's update.




Some more kits came in the mail. Now, I can assemble the third and final Panzer II. I ordered the jet for the transfers, since I'm running out of the 1/48 versions from the old Testors kit. But this little jet offers some possibilities of it's own.









And the artillery observation vehicle. I already have the VBCL for the gun crew's transport. The next thing for my Bombard battery will be a Trojan from Forge World and Bombard itself.








The basic camo on the CRV, except for some touching up and missed spots here and there, is done. The detailing is still a work in progress.

Quick update.


The weather hasn't been cooperating. That's put a damper on rattle can base coating and finishing. But I've managed to get some work in.




First off, MOAR SUPPLY DROPS.................




This will be the 2357th Special Technology Detachment commander's ride. The Tech Priest in the set will also be part of the unit.

After two years, the CRV is nearly finished. The progress so far (sorry for some of the craptastic pics in this set).

Small update. I haven't much to post tonight since I haven't been able to get very much done. But it is what it is.



Anyway, I decide that this time I would use a spare sewing needle and a pin for vox aerials on the Panzer II, instead of paper clips like on the last two. Now, I have to friggin' wait for the right temperature and humidity to base coat with Rust-o-Leum.

And as of today. The Speeder is more or less done. I just have to wait for the weather to cooperate in order to matte coat it with Krylon. It's pretty much stock except for the non-Marine crew, and plastic strip added to each side, as extra ballistic protection (fluff-wise) for the crew.

UPDATE TIME.





I assembled the Leman Russ Tech Command Tank. This is the stock build so far, with the exception of the commander's head, heavy stubber, and homemade pintel mount.


















More work on the Rhino. In this shot, I just finished adding the snow effects using Citadel Valhallan Blizzard:








Using a mix of crushed sidewalk chalk, brown paint, Elmer's glue, and MiG pigments, I mixed up some tropical "red clay"mud and applied it to the ambulance. That was after the coat of Krylon Matte finish earlier. I'm happy to say that this project is COMPLETE.
















Next to report, I applied the final coating of Krylon Clear Glaze to the Mk 1b Rhino. This project is now COMPLETE.

















On to the Land Speeder, one last coat of Krylon Matte, and this project is COMPLETE.



















SUPPLY DROP! My Trojan got in from Forge World today:







The plastic parts. The addition of the GW Tank Accessories sprue saved me some waiting and money on the needed extras for the Leman Russ Tech Command Tank.







The resin parts. I inspected them and everything looks good. The "instructions" barely qualify as such. But it's a very simple kit to assemble.







I managed to get the Predator base coated with Krylon today.







The extras added to the Leman Russ Tech Command Tank. The next thing before painting is to figure out how I'm going to make the headlights for the tank.



Note the red plastic transparency I added to the driver's view port on the frontal shot.

Well, I did get something accomplished today. I assembled the second Galleon. I added a GW/Citadel tank commander, winged skull logo, and stowage. The AFV Club aftermarket tracks worked out nicely, after cutting a bit off of the length.

Oh, yes. In addition to the modded toys and traditional scale model kits, there will be more than a few FW/GW kits in the mix. Not to mention minis/kits from third party companies.

You're welcome. These Mirage 1/35 C7P Polish artillery tractors (and the captured versions in German service) turn up on Ebay all the time. Prices will vary, of course.





Quick update time. The other day, I got another of these STC START Russian kits in the mail. I haven't decided if I'll build another katyusha or the third light tank to round out the squadron.










I also cleaned up the resin parts for the Trojan and Taruca Lautaro.

UPDATE:


The Trojan Project. No, not the rubbers. The Support Vehicle.


I broke out some old toy artillery shells (possible G.I. Joe stuff, I don't rightly remember) to use as the transported munitions in the Trojan.








The shells after painting them up.









The final assembly (minus the chain for the hoist/crane), with the interior flooring painted and shells in the munitions bay. I won't be able to install track guards like I wanted, because of a protrusion from the resin hull over the right track. I'll also be base coating this vehicle by hand. In addition, I added some items from the tank accessories sprue from Games Workshop.




















I also managed to get some assembled vehicles base coated today. Unfortunately, the weather for the rest of the week won't let me finish the Chemical Recon Vehicle, for which completion will require matte coating. That'll come next week, I hope.

Despite fighting a nasty toothache today (not helped by the winter weather), I finished the detail painting on the Vanquisher. Next step will spot varnishing and transfers.

Quick update.


First of all, I replenished my supply of super glue. I got Gorilla Glue this time around. It was more expensive, but it comes with a handy, optional brush for applications.








Using Citadel Mechanicus Standard Grey, I applied the first layer of the base coat. Also, a cheap sterling silver necklace chain works nicely for the Trojan's crane hoist.









I finally assembled the Taruca Lautaro. Other than a slight bit of resin sanding, and cutting a little flash off of the metal parts, it was easy. Which is fortunate, since no instructions were included by AW. On another note, for such a small vehicle, it has a bit of heft to it.













On to the Vanquisher................



I spot varnished the unit, then applied transfers and sealed them in. Next step will be the matte coating.

I have a bad habit of a lack of emphasis. I just tend to work on whatever strikes me on a given day.


Right now, I'm just working on a bit of painting. I started on the camo for both the Trojan and Lorraine 38. It's still a work in progress.

I'm nearly done with the basic camoflague scheme on the Trojan and Lorraine. One more layer should do it. Then on to finishing the extras and detailing.









I finally got around to buying a pair of side cutters for modeling/minis, mostly for cutting smaller parts and small sprues. Will save me some sanding, filing, and scraping/cutting. They are Army Painter brand, which were pretty cheap (surprisingly).







Also at the closest FLGS today, I pick up some more Citadel paints:








I picked this up at the game shop today too. It will be built as an Executioner.

From this kit, I built the Executioner variant. The tank commander is a mix of plastic GW Citadel and resin Forge World bits. Before I base coat the tank, I want to add an auxiliary fuel tank, headlights, and track guards.














Got some more goodies in the mail. I plan on building this as the Odin support variant, with the snubnosed low velocity gun.









I also got this. More bits never hurt. Plus, I needed to get a hundred bucks or better for the free shipping, while taking advantage of the President's Day Sale.







I cleaned up this old G.I. Joe radio back pack to use as a "vox unit" for the Lorraine.








This old G.I. Joe grenade launcher (or large bore shotgun) will get a bipod, and serve as a crew served grenade launcher for exterior stowage on the Lorraine. First, I have to clean it and paint it up.







I painted up these two MP40s from the Tamiya Panzer II kit to serve as "autoguns" stowed in the passenger compartment.

Detail painted on the "vox unit" completed. Don't mind the empty prescription bottle in the background. It's not my prescription, it's full of paint, and the prescription is long dead. The bottle just didn't get thrown away. I found it and put it to another use: Emergency paint container. I had one of my puffy paint bottle top pop off today while using it, and the result was a mess. I managed to salvage some of the paint.










I painted part of a paperclip with Citadel Abaddon Black to serve as a vox aerial.







I wrapped up the last of the detail touch-ups. Then on to the spot varnishing with 'Ardcoat, transfer application, and the sealing of the transfers.
