So, after Imperial Veterans, what comes next for the X-Wing game, as far as releases? Although my love is imperial ships (Have loved the Defender from the start, now its double good), I'm hoping we'll see a Rebel Veterans set soon, with something for the much maligned E-Wing (which my son loves, regardless) and maybe the Y-wing? Maybe we'll finally see them start digging into the Clone Wars era (I'm meh about the movies, but love the non-droid ships).

If there is a Rebel Vets set I'd rather see a smidge more T65 X-Wing love, IA was okay but another couple of cards, maybe T65 only titles and a zero cost astromech would finish the job, the Y-Wing doesn't really need more help. The E-Wing is a bit more of a complex problem, Corran is already really good, even if he has fallen out of favour of late so you'd have to be careful that any help for the generics didn't overdo it for him.

Man, this so much.
Scum Vets could be such a great fix for two of the arguably weakest ships in the game.

Integrated Astromech has been somewhat of a boon in that area ("I've lost R2!"), but it doesn't quite feel like enough.

Has FFG revealed anything for X-wing beyond IA? Gama was a few weeks ago, I believe and I would have thought we'd see more in the works other than the small release coming for Armada.

I expect this is happening first, since it's been on the radar for awhile. And with the precedent set by all the other Aces/Veterans expansions, it seems pretty likely that we'll get a Scum Aces with these two ships and some upgrades to buff them. By all accounts, the multi-ship expansion packs sell well.

I wonder if FFG intended the Integrated Astromech to be the X-Wing fix. It's a shame that the game's namesake isn't more useful in competitive games. Even if they've realized by now that it's not enough, they may be too far into the design and pre-production process of Wave 9 and 10 to include a new fix.

That said: we do have Rogue One coming out at the end of the year, so I would expect to see some sort of tie-in products. The mouse demands it. So maybe I'm being too dour about the possibility of new T-65 pilots and upgrades this year.

New Trilogy stuff is also on the table. I expect that we'll eventually see the TIE/sf, the Upsilon-class command shuttle, and maybe that Resistance transport. The scarcity of new ships is kind of a problem for future release. The official word is that they're not ever doing prequel stuff, but that seems like a weird decision to me - the ships are about the only thing that the fandom likes about the prequels.

Who knows. Maybe next year we'll be complaining about how the Scurrg, Ebon Hawk, Assault Gunboat are breaking the meta

Alright, I have to ask; what's the problem with the Scyk? Is it the title costing points on top of the upgrades it provides or just the general stats of the ship? Don't get me wrong, a Scum Aces set would be awesome, but I don't get the hate for the Scyk. I've done really well with mine when I've brought them out, but maybe that's just me...

I would like to see a legitimate X-wing fix. IA is cute but isn't really a fix, there needs to be something like a title that either lowers astromech costs, perhaps by 2 points, or that allows some kind of action economy. I dunno, I'm not an expert. I'd say something like a chardaan refit could work too, but I'm getting tired of the negative point cost upgrades being 'fixes'.

2 hull, 1 shield, a terrible dial, no native boost, no pilots with great pilot abilities or skill, paying points for a torpedo or missile slot and being 14 points base for a ship that has the same agility, primary weapon and total durability of a TIE fighter. The 16 point cannon carrier is interesting but on a ship that blows up when you sneeze at it, the 19 points for an ion cannon isn't worth it.

We already have action economy mech. BB-8 is great and on Push Wedge he's nuts, whether you take IA or EU. Lowering Astromech costs would be insane. Okay I'll just take my regen mech on Garven for 1 freaking point. Or Luke w/ R2 for only 30 points. Or Hobbie with his super K-turn and free (!) targeting astromech for only 25 points. It's too much.

Fair enough. Like I said, I've done well with my three Scyks but I'm clearly in the minority. Then again, I used mine for mangler cannons and would just 'joust' enemy ships at range 3 as often as I could, and if things got too close I'd just do a 5-K-turn to get in behind them.

Yeah I'm not quite awake here. I wasn't thinking of how ridiculous the aces would be with a negative mech cost, I was thinking more of helping out the generics you don't see very often. Forget I mentioned it...

The stats, the base cost, the dial and the odd oversight of no illicit slot are part of it, the extra agility isn't really worth the loss of a hull meaning there is no reason to pick a Scyk whilst the Z95 exists, it should really cost 12 as a base

The heavy upgrade also costing points and not giving a discount the cannon etc is part of the issue as you then you have to buy the further upgrade, meaning you end up with basically a subpar Kihraxz

I think that for the E-wing, the key is to use the astromech/System slots to fix it instead of a title. This is because Corran can take a title, but already wants to use System/Droid slots. Something along the lines of the X-7 title, where it burns the slot, gives a bonus, and reduces points. Spitballing a couple ideas:

R7 Prototype- 1pt
E-wing Only
Droid
After you perform a focus action, you may immediately perform a free Barrel Roll, Evade, or Target Lock action.

A powerful ability for very cheap. Like the X-7, this gives some good action economy for a low cost. Although powerful, the fact that you can't take R2 prevents Corran from using it.

Sensor Feed- -3pt
E-wing Only
System
After you perform an evade action, assign a focus token to a friendly ship at range 1 with a higher pilot skill.

This turns the E-wing into an alternative for Biggs. Again, Corran has better options, and he is also limited by the fact that if you have someone with a better PS, you won't have a many ships.

What I'd love to see? Either a straight Chardaan Refit knockoff, or a Droid that costs -1pt. Both drop the Rookie Pilot to 20 points even with Integrated mech and droid, getting the X-wing into the 5-ship list threshold.

Maybe a Title that takes off the Torpedo slot for -1pt, as I don't think I've ever seen anyone take Torpedo's on an X-Wing

Also 0 pt Astromech that only trigger something when they are discarded, like an Evade token or a Shield, would tie in nicely with IA

These are my guesses.

I expect the Rebel Vets will be tied to the release of Star Wars Rogue One next winter. That means a T-65 (a T-65 with black chevron is seen in one of the leaked set photos).
I expect Scum to get a lot of love in the next 18 months.
Expect a Scum Epic ship with a Scyk or kihraxz escort.
Expect an Aces type pack.
Wave 9 probably won't be seen until 2017 or 2018

4X with Protons and Guidance chips might work. Push+BB Wedge with any Torpedoes would be nasty. Barrel roll to set up arc, target lock and focus and let er rip. -1 agility to your target and you can even put Guidance chips on if you don't like the other great mod options.

Maybe, but I'll be hard pressed to give up my Engine Upgrade habits on T65 aces

My main problem with giving an X-wing Guidance Chips is that you have to pass over Integrated Mech. Now, your torpedoes are on the power curve, bu the ship itself is below it.

The problem is that they'd have to be Rookie Pilots. PS2 pilots without access to Deadeye have trouble getting target locks, and without Integrated Astromech they have a pretty fair chance of at least one ship going down in flames with torpedoes still in its tubes.

You could up them to three Red Squadron Pilots with Torpedoes and Guidance Chips, Lieutenant Blount with Deadeye/Veteran Instincts, XX-23 Thread Tracers.

Still, I'd suggest the X-wing still wants a few tweaks, the ace pilots are still damn nasty, but the generics aren't amazing.

With the usual drip feed of EU ships to keep us going throughout the year, my money is on the fact that the next 'big box' release will be the Scum Aces, with a Rebel Vets box dropping around December to coincide with Rogue One (which is unlikely to feature any new fighters but will surely include some new pilot characters that FFG can put behind the wheel of a 'fixed' X-Wing). I wouldn't be surprised if Rogue One also features a named big ship that FFG can bring out at the same time (since TFA was such a let down in that area).

Still, as release schedules go, it feels like it is missing something special. So my spidey senses tell me that FFG will also do a kind of odd-ball release this year to keep the game alive for the casuals and those burned out with OP - mostly as a means to stop them selling their ships on the secondary market. Honestly I wouldn't be too surprised if FFG bought out that coop campaign and released it as an official product.

Might see some Force Awakens ships, there is Kylo Ren's shuttle and the Quad Jumper, both were pretty nice looking ships.
