Does the "A Friendly Ship" wording on the upgrade affect the ship with the upgrade?

Yes. This is clarified on page 12 of force awakens rules reference, in case someone disagrees with you (for whatever reason, this comes up constantly when I TO).

They will if OL continues to be such a common sight at the top tables.
But yes, I take your point that it's not just an OL counter. It has application against any ship that relies on target locks - Vader, Inquisitor, etc.

Cool, thanks.

The Black One upgrade will be a nasty counter, looks like I'll need a new go to vs my friend when he constantly runs Poe.

Oh, can you be in range one of yourself?

It's also why the Kanan Jarrus crew card is so badass on PTL Dash Rendar.

Or as a friend pointed out, will be badass on the new Falcon. Do a white 3 bank, take the stress to flip around, then lose the stress from Kanan. Unless of course they FAQ this so it doesn't work

With the new smuggler compartments, the Falcon will also have access to Inertial Dampeners and Kanan Jarrus, which could be quite useful.

Gotta say, did not see this expansion coming next. I am, however, soooo hyped for it. I already have 3 T-70s, and would love to run a fluffy Black Poe with BB-8 (and I'm sad I can't fit Poe and 3 other pilots in 100 points).

Rey's ability is kind of...meh. I don't see he having much use other than in a fun, narrative game.

Am I the only one to think that Poe Dameron should've had PS 9 from the get-go instead of getting another version in this pack? Also glad to see that Rey is getting her own ship to fly since the movie.

Spoiler:
Not that I mind too much, more Poe Dameron (aka not-Fox McCould in human form) is a good thing. Was expecting another rebel ship to be side-by-side to Imperial Veterans, but this is a pleasant surprise.

I'm committed to the idea that Poe wasn't PS9 to start because he wasn't in HIS ship (black one). But you do pay 2 points more for PS9; I don't see PS8 Dash dropping off the map. If anything, it's awesome to have the option of two versions of a great pilot.

It also might represent a younger, less experienced Poe (who doesn't yet have a special X-Wing).

Guess that is fair. Think I might see the PS8 one still viable if you need two more points to spend on something else.

Thinking about that - why the hell wasn't he in 'black one' when he went to Jakku? He was still in a new-ish generation X-wing, a high-end heavy fighter, so it's not like he went there 'low profile'....

Still looking forward to the expansion.

I think the PS9 Poe is definitely for if you plan on dropping a lot of points onto him, as noted. Essentially, you're paying 1 point and 1 point of PS to get your elite pilot talent back, compared to the near-automatic veteran instincts people put on him these days.

It's probably only worthwhile if planning to heavily kit him out with a good elite talent. Since Black One pairs really well with BB-8 (since you get the barrel roll free), that then pairs really well with Push The Limit......essentially it's trying to make Poe with the droid he should want to use as attractive as R5-P9.

It'll depend on exactly what limitations the Pattern Analyser comes with (looks like it's optional, though, so it should just be cost) and what the elite pilot talents do (it looks like "Snap Shot" and....since it's a named talent in the RPG, I'm going to say 'Tricky Target'?).

I think it also makes Poe quite attractive with R5-P9. At natural PS 9 you can take predator for focus + TL on offense, modify your dice on every defense roll, and then regain a HP at the end of the turn. And with the ability to take actions after a red maneuver you can t-roll/k-turn and still have full dice modification. Without PTL the title is a little less useful, but really the threat of breaking OLeader's target lock is often going to make your opponent take a different action instead. And you still have predator for dice modification even if you have to boost to break a TL.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Personally, I had much more fun with PTL-bb8 Poe than the more conservative (and smart) r5-p9 or r2-d2 and VI or adaptability build. Now knowing I can have my PS9 and explore other EPTs is just going to be a lot more fun.

Hell, he might come back as Ghost support...

The ghost will need a lot more support than that.

I love you mate and all, but I love flying the thing.

I know it's not top tier. But I have had success in running it from time to time. As an aside, Regen Poe with it gets picked off very fast. PTL Poe is not perceived as such an urgent target and gets to hang around a bit longer.

Oh the ghost is a ton of fun to fly, I don't disagree.

And that's ironic that non-regen Poe lasts longer than regen-Poe. But yeah, personally I think I'll switch to PTL-Poe with BB-8 from now on. It's fluffy, and with the new title, it's even more awesome.

I got my fill of flying it this weekend. Local tourney. Had some really close games, but again, Brobots well flown are my bane.

I'm looking for a new list. Nothing is catching my eye.

This weekend I flew an interesting list of Valen Rudor with Juke, Autothrusters, and the title. Followed by Omega Leader with awesome shinys and 3 other TIE/FOs. It was awesome.

But in all honesty, I'd rather fight Brobots using a Ghost then fight lame people who spam TLTs...
