I really don't get why these are ruled this way ( pure from a rule perspective not from balance etc)
As an Orks Player, I understand your feeling, but for unfortunatly, I found the RB pretty clear on this point and the FAQ confirm it....
I think a lot of people were playing this rule wrong, myself included. Given that grenades can only be thrown by one dude in the shooting phase, it stands to reason that you'd only be able to use one in assault as well.
My scouts are dissapointed, but I think it's a fair ruling.

Holy balls I missed that grenade ruling. GW's response is counter to every previous edition and the way everyone ive ever seen has played it.
That said...it might mean tanks arent autokilled in CC now.

As for grenades, check the BRB, it isn't a nerf, it is a clarification. The BRB is pretty straightforward with it. No one ever bothered to play it right for 7th edition. Its RAW and RAI clear as day in the BRB that you were only ever supposed to have 1 grenade in CC.
I am really surprised by this too, just because I was so used to it, but in the end it is a pretty huge buff to tyranids in CC, as well as walkers, vehicles and all MCs.
My renegade platoons will no longer be drowning tanks in 20 grenades though.
What is going on with the ordnance stuff. They say that if a tank with a non blast ordnance weapon is stunned it can snap fire, but the BRB says ordnance can never snap fire. wtf?

Yeah, the ordnance stuff is pretty weird, and is one of the places where they seem to tick doggedly to RAW in some places (seemingly in spite of the originsl intention) and make up new rules in others.

But those changes should be clearly labelled as such, because having an FAQ directly contradict the written rules without explaining why is just confusing for the players, or for people trying to decide how to rule on other, similar situations.

That's always been Strength 9 from multiple modifiers. The real question is Thunderwolf Cavalry and Powerfists, are they S5 (so S10 with PF) or S4+1 from the mount (so S9 with PF).

Yeah, it should really be called Errata if they are changing rules. But at least they are changing things for the good of the game. A lot of the rulings are in line with the ITC come to think of it. Maybe they are working with third parties to balance the game.

I approve as a Stormsurge owner. Also we officially shoot all of our weapons at any target now. People can't splerg out and try rules lawyer us out of our firepower. Though we do have to pick targets in advance (which I have always did anyways).

Its not like half the armies don't even have battle brothers or anything....
Plus the rulebook already says you can only use a single grenade a turn. Have people really just been ignoring it for mass grenade spam? That sounds weird that everyone would agree on that.

WOW I just realised the 25% cover rule neglects to mention Vehicles (regular vehicles not SHV).
Don't FAQ's overrule the rulebook?
Does this mean that Trukks/Rhinos can get a 4+ cover save for having a wheel in Ruins?

Haha no, GW have stated they aren't lowering prices (although they really should).
But if they continue their trend of box sets that are cheaper than buying individually, they are well on their way to recuperating their losses under Tom Kirby.

To FAQ something, you have to understand it. No one at GW has ever given me any confidence that they understand the entirety of the rules that they've written, so I have a feeling that some of these rules are simply on-the-fly changes to the RAW. Some of the changes I can get on board with (the rent-a-transport battle brothers nonsense), but others will simply muddy the waters further and add needless complication (SHs having to declare a target for each weapon before firing).

Not really. A lot of these seem clear. For the few that are generally still confusing, remember that this is a draft so any queries should be sorted out when they are officially published.

I agree with frozocrone. I think that, for the most part, the rules clarifications are fair and reasonable, and imply at least a competent understanding of the rules.
That being said, I still think it's silly that a baneblade that thunderblitz's a warbuggy is caused to snap fire. That's probably my one big issue with the rules I've read.

There's a couple I'm reeling about. POTMS for one just got a huge buff compared to how I was playing it, which makes me pout about my upcoming CSM game and the Land Raider being even worse in comparison. Oh well.
But the Librarius Conclave looks like it takes a hit, right? Designated Psyker can only cast his ML amount of powers? If you're fishing for Invisibility only, oh well no big deal, but that's a lot of Levels that are going to be going to waste now. Force is going to be much harder to decide when to use it too.

Wait so this means that the 30 point Demolitions doctrine on Guard Veterans gives you one demo charge per game and allows just a single melta bomb use in CC per turn?

I've been playing it this way all along, as it was exactly how Psykers worked in 6th and even in 5th - 1 power attempt per level.
I'm sure Marines will be fine, especially considering that they only get to harness their charges so easily, while us poor Tzeentch players get absolutely **** all, despite being the servents of the God of ****ing MAGIC himself!
I'm more ticked off though that Tzeentch Daemons are still 100% screwed over by the basic casting rules, as IC's can't attempt to cast the same Witchfire as another psyker... Horrors are still 100% useless outside of WC generation, and get relegated to Malefic instead of being the magical artillery they've always been.
Meanwhile, Tzeentch can't throw out enough Witchfires to counteract the double-edged sword that's Warpflame.
But somehow, freaking Loyalist scum are better & much more efficient summoners of daemons than freaking Daemons themselves are?! WTF?

Mmm yeah. But that Conclave is only casting two powers a turn now. So you've essentially put 180 < points into getting those powers off. Better make sure you actually roll those powers now.
