Walking drone, crawler drone and turbine drone could make some interesting Medge conversions... and that tank! Depending on its size, that could be quite useful.

Anyone have a source for cheap army oil barrels? The ones linked earlier are dead and ebay is currently fruitless.

I can't vouch for the quality, but there are some 3d printed barrel sets 20/$10 on Amazon as well.

My son will be glad to see more but I'm bit at all impressed by the prominence of comparatively huge launcher sections. Takes away from "realistic" look of many of the earlier ships.

Some great new pieces and certainly a nice price point though.

I heartily encourage you guys to get the Fisher Price Garage. The size is great, it's all polystyrene so it's easy to mod and glue, and it's equally work able based or unbased. Also, it can be kept in sections and the tower makes a good building all it's own. I built mine for a friend, but have considered picking up another.

The airport is even cooler, but seems alot more rare. I looked for years at resale shops before finding one. They're all over ebay, but shipping is the dealbreaker.

Cool to see folks reviewing and discussing these. AFAIK, Dollar Tree are only in the states and part of Canada, but I put a link in the last page where you can order the whole set online.

Haven't done much with my Final Faction mech yet, but I did cut off a bunch of the nubs around the mounting holes to make the holes flush and easier to cover. I'm going to give it a quick paintjob and display it alongside a couple of Gundam models I've built recently. My kid loves the figures though.

Bit beyond the price range I am looking for. I am more interested in quantity not quality. Somewhere around 200-400 barrels total. The plan is to make modular LOS blocking terrain using pallets and barrels. Magnets on the top and bottom so it fits secure. It will look something like this:

Probably going to have to just stalk ebay until a listing from china pops up.

Not doing any kind of sci fi gaming but this thread has got the juices flowing.

Couldn't pass up half price Matchbox copter and hovercraft at Target...

Already pulled the inner "water" part.

With walls inside that will be a fantastic sci-fi container.

Might be time to restart the hobby blog. That fisher price Airport could be a heliport...

I need some gribly legs to add to some tyranid gargoyle bodies, anybody have any budget plastic scorpion toy recommendations?

Ideally the plastic would be stiff enough to hold the body off the ground...

Have you looked at Wargames Atlantic’s giant spiders? There’s a trading group, and you might be able to get a sprue or two or some spare legs for not too much.

If you're planning on doing pallets, then have you thought about buying some plastic tubing and cutting it to length? If you stick pallets top.amd.bottom and stack it all up then you dont really need individual barrels.

I did not. I would need to come up with something to cover the top of the tubes for the upper most pallet/squares, but some kind of tarp would work. Adding wire for the hoops would probably be the biggest time eater for the whole project. Thanks!

Did some digging in to try to find UK suppliers of some of this stuff.

On the upside, yes to some of the snap ships, more coming soon, free post over ÂŁ20:

https://interplayuk.com/collections/snap-ships

Less good but kinda promising? Space Union have a distributor in the UK, but it's trade only. Talk to your local toy shop and give them the link, maybe.

You can already get them by the sprue from Northstar, though economically speaking it is cheaper to get the whole box.

Hmm. The Fisher Price garage stuff has me thinking. Apologies if already posted, but Argos does this bad boy for around 55 euro -

https://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/7174441/Trail/searchtext%3EToy+garage.htm?desktopSiteActive=true

- which you could probably do a lot with as a single massive industrial building in a multi level game or else break up for parts of collapsed ruins scattered across the landscape. I notice it mentions the roadway out of it is compatible with other products in the range so you could bisect your terrain with a whole ruined highway that led up to it.

Out of stock atm due to lockdown, but I have Argos vouchers somewhere I need to use anyway. I seem to remember somebody saying the plastic in Chad Valley stuff lends itself well to painting and texturing.

That Argos tower looks great. Nice flat sections on each level and it wouldn't look bad at all without the ramps.

I'd probably do it as 3 and 2 story structures for necro.

Did something similar with the TRU posting garage years ago, but the Argos wouldn't need as much work.

I have a post on my blog for how to use the Timmee Toy Space Set for dexterity games using the High Noon rules, which are all ready designed for toys. Gives you the ability to do some Cowboys vs. Aliens games.

https://bloodandspectacles.blogspot.com/2021/01/wargame-design-high-noon-cowboys-vs.html

It has some good pictures of the plastic space guys themselves too.

I also picked up and received a set of these "Mecha" as well.

Spoiler:

** Spoilered for size.

I want to chop them up, reposition some of them, and add some weapons to make space mechs for a game I am working on. I will keep everyone posted for how it goes. All 144 cost the same as about 1 and a half metal ones I was looking at.

Neat use of the Tim Mee space set.

Those mechs are ok, but I highly recommend the EM4 plastics instead

Not quite as cheap but much better quality and designs and interchangeable weapons.

I dig it. I think I've got a couple of those not-gundam bubble dispenser guys somewhere.
I just can't think of any mech games where I wouldn't rather spend a $0.80-per-mech for better figs.

Wait, just thought of one. A large scope Gundam game... That ugly Zaku is kind of adorable.

Gotcha. Yeah the EM-4 are good deals for sure. They are great for Horizon Wars and Mechattack and other Battletech style games.

The game I have in mind is a bit of a cross between With the Lightnings/Jovian Chronicles, Gundam, and Aeronautica Imperialis. I.e. it is "Mechs in Space" so a different feel and style than those EM-4 ones.

I might pick up a set of those EM-4 Starfighters while I am at it too!

They come to $4.50 per 10~ or so when I bought them

That would be perfect if you have any live listings. I have ~70 of those to start so they would even match.
