Oh my god that is so sick. I am tempted to buy them the instant they hit the cad store.

I am unfamiliar with fantasy/aos outside of total war warhammer. Are these an existing faction? What grand alliance do they fall under?

They were part of the Ogre Kingdoms, in the Destruction faction. Old models, but for me this set is going to require more restraint not to immediately buy than any other release yet!

As a newbie to this whole thing. What are army construction rules? The new Orruk models I think the ironjaws (maw crusha) looks cool. Is it possible for me to start a grand alliance destruction army with units from any of these factions?

Are there any benefits to having an army of only one faction? If so where can I find all these rules?

The AOS app is entirely free, and has the basic rules for every model. If you want the matched play rules (point costsm army comps, ect.) you can pick up the General's handbook, either in the app or as a physical copy if you prefer. ~25 dollars iirc.

Yes. If you have a tablet or phone, I suggest DLing the Age of sigmar app. Has the rules there for free like mentioned aswell as model stats. If you want to do points, the Generals handbook physical is 25 bucks (well worth it) and the app is like 15 I think?

The box set if taken them both as stonehorns brings it to 1520 points. Gives you leader, behemoths, and lots of battleline units your required to take in your army.

If you take both them and ironjawz however, you may need more battleline units, as some units only become battleline when playing mono-faction. pretty sure the savage orruks have some general battleline though, not entirely sure on that.

Army construction: Using the Generals Handbook for points, the only restrictions are that you need a certain amount of "Batlleline" units (3 in a 2000 point army) and have a max number of Leaders and Behemoths (6 and 3 respectively in 2000 points I think). You also need to pick your army from the same Grand Alliance. Both Ogors and Ironjawz are Destruction, so you're good to go. Just make sure you get enough Batlleline units, since some units are only Battleline if you keep to a certain faction, which you're not if you're using both Beastclaw Raiders and Ironjawz in the same army. If you're just getting the big Beastclaw Raiders box, you'll have enough Battleline and can simply start playing.

If you don't have a smart phone or tablet and can't use the app, the free rules for each model can be found on the store page for the model in question. Then you will need a copy of the Generals Handbook and you're set.

Benefits for only using a certain faction exist, but only in the recently released Sylvaneth Battletome and, obviously, in the yet to be released Beastclaw Raiders Battletome. We assume all factions will get similar benefits in the future. In the meantime, you get similar benefits for being a Destruction, Order, Chaos or Death army, they are just less specific to your faction. You can find these rules in the Handbook. If you want Beastclaw Raiders-specific benefits you'll need their Battletome as well.

Thanks for the help folks. Now to get my Ta'unar done. Looks like I'm putting my two Barracuda on hold as well. These things are just too kick ass to pass up. I always thought I would be an undead kind of guy from what I read but these models speak to me more.

I'm not a social person for the most part. And since 90% of people have one if there's ever an emergency I just use theirs. To this date I have never had to use one.

Once in awhile I host an rpg or play a game of 40k (used to at least) but that's it. People can stay over there.

Edit
One last question. How viable are orruks as an army? As well as the Beastclaw Raiders.

I can see ogres becoming a lot more popular if they keep up this redesign theme and expand it to the regular stuff. More large prehistorical animals.

Imagine ogre kingdoms with saber tooth tiger cavalry. Muahahah. Oh there was also this prehistoric giant dog thing from australlia that was larger than the saber tooth and more dangerous.

Keep up the theme of giant prehistoric animals going and then fantasy them up a bit and you got a hugely successful faction.

Don't know if that's the same one I'm remembering or even remembering the right thing, but there it is. Massive bear-dog would be bigger than a bear from today. Perfect mount for the more southerly climes of the ogre kingdoms. All this could even be worked into their new lore for why they eat so much, got so big (bein geaten), and have to be so strong and savage.

As soon as I seen maw-krusha I was tempted to buy it way back then.

There is a Battalion which allies Ogors and Orruks, wonder if that will be with Ironjawz or Bonesplitterz.

This isn't a redesign, these models already existed and have been repackaged. I agree that more prehistoric creatures would be awesome though.

Without wanting to price rant, its really illuminating looking a the prices of the new (old) ogres

£36 for the large beasts vs the Iron Jawz £65 for their large beast for what is a very comparable kit/amount of plastic.

Its frustrating as GW are starting to do sensible things again, and have managed to persuade me back in, having gone cold turkey for well over half a decade now.

Been playing AoS and Silver Tower with my GF, and we are both working on new armies, so its clearly working, but we are sticking to older kits.

Its frustrating, as the Sylvaneth kits were not terribly priced, so they must have figured they hit the upper limit of price elasticity, but have dug their heels in on no price reductions, so there will be some kits stuck at this price now.

AoS really hits my love of small, thematic forces (I dropped out of fantasy with 7th, so missed the joys of 100 man units thankfully), and I want to collect a little skirmish force for a lot of factions, but will have to pick carefully.

Ah well, I always buy more than I will ever paint, so maybe this is for the best right

Shame the last few finecasts kits didn't get replaced either, those yetis were not great first time round...

That's why we have the new start collecting boxes. Honestly I think the ironjaw's one has the biggest value I think. Even though their "beast" is still pricey their other stuff is in a pretty good value box.

The Huskard/Thundertusk comes on a 120 X 90mm base compared to the 160mm of the Maw Crusher, it's fair to assume that the latter is considerably bigger. And I've seen the Huskard before, it's not really that big.

The Stonehorn and maw krusha are a similar height and length, but the maw krusha is about twice as wide as the Thundertusk. The maw Krusha really is an exceptionally chunky monster.

Fair enough, I've not seen them side by side.

Still, a hell of a jump up. Can't imagine there are many more sprues in the Mawcrusha and each sprue adds very little manufacturing cost.

Like I say, I can buy more than I will ever paint, and the IronJawz are not on my radar right now, so its unlikely I would ever grab one.

Not the only game with ever increasing costs lets face it.

There is no question that prices of new stuff has increased dramatically. I am glad thought that they have resisted the temptation to increase the prices of the reboxed minis. The infantry is actually cheaper per model than before. The mourn fangs for example were 24 for 2 but are now 40 for 4. So the box is more expensive but each miniature is cheaper now than when they were first released in 2011. This has been true for every infantry or cavalry rebox so far.
It is baby steps towards reasonable pricing by GW but it is better than nothing.
With the discount box and an extra box of mournfangs you can have a 2000 point beastclaw army for £175. (£140 if you go through an online store.) That's not too bad.
