There is no question that prices of new stuff has increased dramatically. I am glad thought that they have resisted the temptation to increase the prices of the reboxed minis. The infantry is actually cheaper per model than before. The mourn fangs for example were 24 for 2 but are now 40 for 4. So the box is more expensive but each miniature is cheaper now than when they were first released in 2011. This has been true for every infantry or cavalry rebox so far.
It is baby steps towards reasonable pricing by GW but it is better than nothing.
With the discount box and an extra box of mournfangs you can have a 2000 point beastclaw army for £175. (£140 if you go through an online store.) That's not too bad.

Yup, the new reboxed sets are alright, you could always split the box back down to two units as most are reboxed multi sprues (when I get round to savage orks, that's exactly what I am planning).

The Sylvaneth are almost reasonable, unless that's Stockholm syndrome

If nothing else, I will take styrene over PVC or Finecast any day of the week, so there is that too.

This isn't a redesign, these models already existed and have been repackaged. I agree that more prehistoric creatures would be awesome though.

When were these models made? They look fantastic. Can't be all that old.

They were the second army book of 8th ed fantasy so... 2011? 2012?

The plastic Beastclaw Raiders date to 2011. The others (e.g., the Yhetees) date back to the original Ogre army book.

I really like the design of the new rules pages In the recent battletomes. When the books went full colour, a lot of the atmosphere of the older books was lost. It is good to get a little of that back.

Meh. More repackaged boxes to come.

Seriously, GW, if you destroyed the Old World just to do that, it wasn't worth it.

New armies! New models! Not just old miniatures with some vague background trying to make them look different! Make Orruks that aren't mushroom/just green! Add female Orruks! Make Fire/Metal Dwarves, not just "somewhat like old Slayers with helms"!

Be innovative!

The abilities don't seem quite as good as the previous two battletomes, but the improved battleline selection of Beastclaws is by far the best of any faction so I think it balances out.

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

We also have to remember they are pretty good in terms of their warscrolls.

Kinda disappointed with this release overall. Unlike the other repacks there doesn't seem to be any discounts for any of the minis (the Ghouls, 'Ard Boyz, Chaos Knights, Skullcrushers, etc at least got a modest price decrease when they got mooshed together. There doesn't seem to be one for the Mournfangs). That and I always thought Ogres look goofy sitting on beasts.

Mounfang Cavalry went from $36 (IIRC) for two to $65 for four. That's a savings of $7. I believe there's also a savings on the Yhetees.

Indeed, they're the main reason why almost every non-warhammer ogre miniature looks like a warhammer ogre miniature.

Though I support all new models this seems a win-win to me.

-GW keeps production costs low and gives itself some breathing room for future releases.
-AoS players are happy with great deals and great new warscrolls.
-Oldhammer players are happy with great deals and seeing their favorite models stick around.

There's not really alot of information on the ogres(ogors) at the moment in the new setting. The upcoming battletome will be what shows us what they've been up to. (Killing and eating things, not exactly in that order, most likely)

What we do know is this:
> They worship Gorkamorka along with the rest of the Destruction faction.
> The Great Maw still lives and creates portals for them so they can travel between realms.
> They engaged a mysterious undead army that seemed to be the new Tomb kings. (and lost)

There's probably more lore tidbits but those are the parts I've read. Wait for MongooseMatt to post his (inevitable) review of their battletome if you're really interested but want to see if it's worth buying.

Yeah but now I can get a deal on the models and with new AoS lore and warscrolls.

Maybe I'm more excited for the Battletome than the models actually....
