Nope its a straight nerf to my codex. I have no flyers. Tons of FMCs but no flyes so yay free -1 to my reserve if my opponent brings anythign with wings...woo

When 90% of the units capable of effectively dealing with your FMCs no longer can do so, -1 to reserve rolls is a small price to pay.

Speaking of which, which page # of DftS has the info about fighters having skyfire and -1bs to ground targets, and attack flyers and bombes having whatever they get.

Pages 58-59 are the new Flyer rules. They replace the rules from the Big Rulebook.

I just don't know. I mean, I don't use flyers too often, I use FMC pretty often, and the flyers I do use are FW more often than not. So that stinks. If all I need are 2 pages worth of rules, I would rather just get a scan and learn what I need to know for the TWO GW flyers I own, a heldrake and stormwolf.

It's still a mixed bag at my LGS, not everyone owns the book, and people are not about to refuse a game just because someone hasn't bought a book. So it's an "ask your opponent" basis right now, just like supplements have been in the past. I watched some battle reports with them, and the ones that focused heavily on flyers were some of the most boring games I have ever seen. I also don't know anyone who owns enough flyers to do that. The whole agility test for bonus moves seems nifty, so that is cool.

I dunno, I am interested, but not too keen on spending that much cash on a few pages of rules.

On moon miranda.

The big problem to me is that its trying to hamfist a lot of mechanics into a game that fundamentally isnt intended to portray the kinds of engagements that it is trying to sell. A company level wargame really doesnt deal spectacularly well with flying stuff in the first place (where many, if not most, if these units would never fly low or slow enough to interact with such a battle), much less aerial combat, especially at 28mm scale, and the retractive "middle of the edition" changes to a lot of units and mechanics looks to get real messy.

TL;DR this largely looks like trying to make 40k do something that its not fundamentally set up to do, at a scale thats far too big to properly represent such a thing, and executed in a very poor manner.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Negative. I would like rules updates, but every review and tidbit of information on this topic leads me to not want to support this direction.

I don't know, to me it looks the book was designed in such a way it's actually sounding as a brand new game for Flyers. Aeronautica Imperialis for 28mm Flyers, basically.

Since I don't play with flyers (and never felt they were relevant to 40k because of the size of miniatures in comparison to the one of boards), I don't need that codex.

Yes, I know, official rules update...but honestly, 40k is so bloated with rules right now it's easier to talk with your opponent first to agree on what we will allow to play or not.

Yeah, it sounds a bit we do like Age of Sigmar, but with points.

It's confirmed that my group won't use it. No one wants to buy it only to have it rolled into 8th ed.

I bought it and regret it. I will likely never use the rules in the book.

I have absoluteley no intention of purchasing this, and anybody who wants to play using these new mechanics won't be playing me.
My loss? don't think so

I've been playing a while, my first model was a lead marine and my first White Dwarf was bound with staples

I choose Other option. I purchased the book on a whim when I went on vacation. I will let you all know how I feel about the book in question once I finish reading the rules for it.
