Working on a list for the Renegade Open. Can only have 1 Gargantuan Creature model in the list otherwise I would be working hard to get another Stormsurge in. Not too sure about the choice that I've made for my troops crisis and slightly worried I may have spent too many points there.

I am currently 5 points shy of 1650 I am tempted to not take the Pule Driver Cannon on the Stormsurge to give me enough points to give my IonTide Skyfire. Also not too sure about my crisis suit loadout thoughts?

Have the crisis suits be three individual units. And give them two of the same weapon rather than two different weapons to better make use of them. (long range missile pods, high ap plasma) This way you can shoot at different units as well.

Thanks for the advice they were supposed to be broken up into 3 separate units just bad formatting. And I suppose that's a good idea I'll make one with two missile pods and one with two plasma guns.

Why would you want Skyfire on the iontide? That's 3 S7 AP2 shots to try to bring down a flyer, probably at BS3. In practice you'll hit with one, plus whatever your secondary is: at that point you're hoping for a lucky kaboom, or an immobilize followed by a crash-and-burn. If you want to try to fit Skyfire in there, put it on a bursttide.

So in your opinion does the higher shot output of the bursttide outweigh the high strength and AP of the Iontide when shooting at the flyers?

Yes, generally. The odds of getting an explode are not very high, so you generally want to go with the higher ROF to try to strip off hull points.

AV12 flyers will stand up to the HBC pretty well, but you're also fishing for 5s with the IA, so that's not much better.
