I'm trying to put together a fun and fluffy Inquisition list for my FLGS. The general idea I'm going for is an Inquisitor calling on all the imperial forces at his disposal to deal with a serious threat. Both lists are built around a core of Militarum Tempestus and an Imperial Knight. I chose Tempestus Scions because I really like the models and the idea of an elite surgical force going in to deal with threats regular guardsman cant handle. After playing around with a few ideas on Battlescribe I've come up with two different lists and cant decide which would be the best approach. I want the list to be fluffy but still able to perform at least moderately well on the table. The first list includes a Vindicare Assassin and the second includes a squad of Deathwatch Vets and a Watch Captain in a drop pod.

List #1: Militarum Tempestus CAD, Inq Detachment, Oathsworn Detachment, Officio Assassinorum Detachment

Officio Assassinorum Detachment

Vindicare Assassin-150pts

Total:1969pts

The focus of this list is a strong firebase revolving around the scions, Imperial Knight and vindicare assassin. The henchmen squads act as shock troops able to lay down a lot of high str low AP firepower and perform surprisingly well in close combat thanks to the preists. They can also hold objectives or tank damage thanks to the crusader's storm shields. The two small scions squads start off the board in the Valkyries and drop in using grav chute deployment. The inquisitor is in there mostly for the servo skulls to prevent infiltrators/scouts from creeping up on my firing line and also improve the accuracy of the Knight's battlecannon.

Dedicated Drop pod-45pts
Locator Beacon

Total:1988pts

The strategy for this list is similar to the first but slightly more offensive. The Deathwatch veterans and watch captain will load up into the drop pod and come down behind enemy lines turn 1. I tried to give them a load out thats a good mix of firepower and close combat ability. The Dominus Aegis is added in to give the unit some durability since they'll be operating mostly alone. I added a locator beacon on the drop pod so the two deep striking scions squads can drop in to support them without scattering if needed. I dropped a crusader from each henchman squad to free up some points for the deathwatch marines gear.

Both lists have some points left over that I'm not sure what to do with. Should I go with list 1 or 2? or possibly a combination of both? Please C&C, I'm open to any and all input. I'd like to get a list solidified before I buy/build any more miniatures. Thanks in advance guys

I kinda like the second list better, because the Marines give you some extra staying power.

A few thoughts on the Henchman squads: you could take a plasma gun on the priest if you want another (mind the risk, though), or a storm bolter to play it safe, if they're usually going to be shooting. You could also take a hull heavy bolter, turret heavy bolter and psybolt ammo to get six shots at S6 AP4 out of each Chimera, which could be quite handy.

It also might make sense to put your Inquisitor in power armor.

Good point on the chimeras, that gives me a good bit more firepower for cheap.

I'm not sure where to stick the Inquisitor since the new FAQs made it where you can't start in allied transports. I was initially gonna run him with the Deathwatch for a little extra punch, but now I'll probably run him with the tempesus command squad. I'll see if I can work in power armor for him though
