Indeed until walkers are fixed most dreads are kinda stuck.
I think if they fix walkers and all the FW dreads get their attack bump then we will get a lot more options.

If there was no grav, it'd be more optimal. >70% meta are marines. And most marines pack grav. That's probably the most obvious reason melee oriented walkers with a total cost of >130-140 pt without a good save are not worth it.

This thread makes me want one even more.
Dread rain with a LSD and lots of special space wolf dreads dropping in turn one sounds (at the very least) lots of fun.
I know it's not optimal, but it still seems like a hell of a ton of fun.

I was playing with the idea of a heavy mech list myself:
1 LSD (Storm Cannon, Claw, Pod)
1 Knight Paladin
1 Knight Crusader
1 Contemptor Dread (2x Kheres)
3-6 Dreadnoughts (AC, PF w/ flamers, squadrons if necessary)
Possibly with a techmarine or a libby for prescience/technomancy for fun.

Ugh, just read the relic of darkness rules.
Not being able to benefit from chapter tactics and never being a scoring unit is a deal breaker IMO

I think this is exactly what i'm running for a GT we have coming up. Its got three Dreads (Bjorn, Murderfang, Fenrisian Axe/Shield Dread), all in Lucius Pattern Pods, and either a LSD if I buy one, or an IK, plus Thunderwolves, and so bits and bobs.
I fully expect it to do poor-to-average in a competitive event, but it will be fun, and will let me field some of the models I never get to take out of storage.
