You might just killed Varuna for me. I was under impression that Kamau simply got point updates with new profiles waiting new expansion. Something special for ORC would be nice, but it also feels odd. Special treatment for Varuna ORC but not for others.

I love PanO ORCs, so I'm looking forward to see what happens with them....whenever it is that something is supposed to happen?

The fact that they're there and no other Sectorial is the "special" part of it. Bolts didn't get Engineers, despite the constant teasing that they were waiting for N3 to give them Engineer profiles or Drop Bears or whatever.

Kamau are likely to be the AVA Total Line Troops for Varuna and Linkable to boot. I'll be pissed if they give Kamau Haris but didn't give it to Bolts though.

For instance, the intruder sniper is already out there & fairly new.
They seemed content to keep the old ML swiss guard & orcs. I see no reasons to redo the swiss guard HMG, it's also a great mini.

Tho I really hope a new Daofei will be in there.

Nothing in the Icestorm expansion is interesting to me. Had CB continued with the Svalarheim motif, I would have been. Bummer.

However, the Red Veil expansion is intriguing. I'll have to see the minis before deciding. I bet the Tarik will be the same body, with new arms.

The GenCon deal (speculating here) will be these 2 boxes, plus a Limited Edition something?

They'll be new. This is their GenCon release which they go all out on, and I don't think they'd sell a box with a mix of old and new models (some might have the old ones already); the times they've done that, they've had the new models separately in a blister for 3 months or so to get round the issue.

So does this mean that Ramah Taskforce will include Hassassins or are these upgrade sets just running away from theme and into releasing just whatever is kicking around the studio?

I think it is more the latter?

This is a 'vanilla' upgrade, not a sectorial preview.

I could, of course, be wrong though!

Hmm, if the Daofei and Guilang are getting re-sculpts then that will be great. Though I will admit, I would have preferred the Daofei Spitfire first. But the HMG and Spitfire at least look close enough to proxy these days.

Well, for Yu Jing, the Guilang is supposedly going into the Yu Jing Svalarheim sectorial (if that is still going to happen)... I would agree that this expansion is a 'vanilla' upgrade.

I am quite curious how a resculpted Fiday may look. And the Guilang, since it seems a nice addition, and the current ones look nice enough, but ought to look much better with an update/resculpt.

It's upgrade sets.

The main starter sets were not intended to be sectorial boxes, they just kinda/sorta became them.

I'm not too fussed about getting these from Gencon for the LE models. I don't use ABH's and I'm not fussed over a CSU.

Spitfire Tarik... heh. I converted my normal AP Rifle Tarik to a Spitfire.

One of the Beasts of War guys kept defending it with stuff like "it could be part of a scenario in the box!" and things like that, so...yeah. Basically expect that.

More like said once that maybe there was a reason for it to be in the Red Veil Box. Lets try not to overreact too much until there's an official announcement as it could be a really dumb thing as you've said or maybe there actually is a good reason the pre-order figures seam reversed.

I'll probably get them but I see no reason to pick them up at Gencon, assuming they're available there, when I can just order online and save $15-$20 each box.

Ragik...is fine, hard to complain about them completing all the options for a profile I guess.
Tarik is pretty frustrating. How about a new Asawira sculpt? Or even just a cool Janissary with an AP rifle that isn't the doctor? No-one is ever going to need two Tariks, if there was a model that didn't need both weapon profiles represented it's the huge super soldier with a great modern sculpt. It's certainly not something I've seen anyone ever ask for.

Agree with all that. Fiday and Ragik Rifle models needed modern resculpts. Tarik didn't at all.

Oh well. A couple of people in my group are building up Ramah Taskforce on the back of the excellent Red Veil minis. Maybe one will take a tarik off my hands.

Let me rephrase this then:

The mere fact that he commented tells us everything we need to know. They've already filmed everything for Infinity Week.

It's odd that they would throw a character into one of those sets. Maybe they'll actually sculpt Tarik wearing that respirator he has around his neck. That way you could just use him as the Spitfire Khawarij.

I'm so glad that the Daofei is getting a coat - makes them look like the Guilang's bigger, tougher brother and bridges the gap between Guilang and the Hac Tao.

I'm mainly relieved that they'll look significantly different from all the conversions I've done, so I won't feel bummed out about it.

No you couldn't, because Tarik is on a 40mm base, and Khawarij are on 25mm bases.

Announcement on the BoW Weekender of the GenCon deal-- both expansion packs and something else-- and the official reveal on Monday the 17th, one month before GenCon. Or does CB stretch this out 2 weeks. Ugh! if they do.

I'm willing to bet you could squeeze Tarik onto a 25mm base. Besides, base size doesn't matter, it's the silhouette that matters. They implemented the whole silhouette system to allow people us play even if they're using over the top scenic bases.

And the silhouette would still be bigger than a S2 model. He's broader in the shoulders.

Bostria said on the Spanish forums Friday will be the video teaser.

Truthfully, they should add printed material to the boxes.

Dire Foes had a lot of issues with people being unable to download stuff that they owned.

I'm pretty sure base size still matters for silhouettes - it's the model size that doesn't matter. Each silhouette value has an associated base size.

Daofei with a coat? Neat.

My only reservation is that a lot of their sculpted coats have looked kind of clunky recently. The Hsien was pretty good, but the new Zhanying suffers from "big square coat syndrome". Hopefully the Daofei and Guilang will be more Hsien-style and less along the lines of having a big, square, blocky coat. The original Guilang sculpt is such an amazing and dynamic looking model (especially compared to models of the day) that I think it will be hard to top that. But I'm excited nonetheless since these are two of my all time favourite Yu Jing units.
