I like the colouring on the blades.

I also find the new army rule... intriguing. In a good way.

Black Guardians are back of course. Different rules, different way to use them for Ulthwe. hint that Eldrad is going to be different since his role in the avatar.

So. Have they tied Malys and Yriel into the paths of the Harlequins and the very shadowseer that's involved in the first Fall of Cadia book...to do absolutely nothing with them?

Time to start Eldar me thinks. Have to see what the army list/formations look like.

Also, was it confirmed in the stream that Visarch is this Exarch Laaran?

Story has some interesting elements - far more interesting with a casual glance than Fall of Cadia. I still don't have any interest in the new miniatures.

So, this begs the question: What follows these two books?

I assume the Gathering Storm will contain more than two books, since the initial two take place simultaneously (and push the story forward a bit, but obviously just the beginning).

Not according to the Twitch feed. I've taken a 'potted version' of the notes.

Yvraine is not Lady Malys. Instead, Biel Tan born Craftworlder. Former Aspect Warrior, former Seer. Banished due to killing someone. Took up as a Corsair, killed someone else, banished from their ranks, winds up as a Wych in Commoragh.

Rising star, ends up stabbed by Lilith Herpeeax, but takes down another Eldar. Soul shard of Ynnead enters her, ressurecting Yvraine, and causes her to absorb the soul of the Eldar she'd just killed.... there is no mention at all of the Gate of Khaine opening at that point, not Daemons flooding Commoragh. At all. None. Dunno where you got your info, but seems duff.

As it's a psychic event, DE freak, and she has to flee, with the aid of the Visarch.

Nobody knows who the Visarch is, but it's apprently suggests he knows Yvraine already. Respected by Incubi and Aspect Warriors alike. Takes Yvraine to Biel Tan.

Stuff happens, and the Biel Tan infinity circuit cracks, releasing the souls. That causes Ynnead to coalesce into an entity. The various ships that comprised Biel Tan (seems Craftworlds are almagamations of ships, think organised Space Hulks) break apart, but seemingly aren't destroyed. Ynnead forms where the Infinity Circuit used to be.

Ynnead causes issues. Many Eldar see it as the rebirth of hope, as it can absorb their souls instead of Slaanesh. Others see it is a very bad thing, as functionally Ynnead is a mirror of Slaanesh.

By and large, a few character models are not much to get excited about. Genuine units would be far more appealing to the masses. Ask Sisters players if they would have prefer a box of basic plastic sisters over some new characters, etc. They're neat show-pieces and arguably better at generating discussion and conjecture - but in the long run they'll be just another small set of heroes who see limited tabletime.

I'm guessing "The Empire Strikes Back."

So Yvraine & the Visarch have decent backstories so far. I can be ok with them being new characters.
But Lady Malys & Yriel need to be at least mentioned in this book. Malys was last seen in a conflict with Vect in which both thought the other was trying to open the Khaine Gate. And Yriel was last seen accompanying Veilwalker.

The Khaine Gate & Veilwalker have both been mentioned in this storyline. So if Malys and Yriel are not mentioned in anyway, I will be supremely disappointed.

Looks like. A bit disappointing.

I don't mind introducing new characters but only if they close the narratives of others. I am concerned that say Yvraine is going to burn brightly for this book and then proceed to get three lines of fluff over the next ten years.

Fixed it for you, though I guess that would be only the finale of the book, with the rest being chaos stomping everything on their path.

I imagine none. This feels like a "corrected" Eldar army to me. GW's response to a lot of the complaints. I doubt you'll see Wraith units as Ynnead seems to absorb their souls instead of Slaanesh, so nothing to put into constructs anymore. Or at the least, very limited amounts of them.

Here's the fun part, devil's advocate. What is this "avatar" is just Slaanesh being cute and finding ways to get Eldar to not use soul stones. Giving them false hope and just taking their souls anyway.

Well, that's not far from what I'd hoped would happen adds more nuance to the fluff, fractures the Eldar further, more grimdark, doesn't nuke any factions so far they can't be playable.

It was mentioned that you can't use Covens with the Ynnari so I'd guess you can't use Wraith constructs, they kind of defeat the point of Ynnead taking Eldar souls when they die.

The Khaine Gate bit seems to be confirmed by a few peeps on the Eldar Facebook group who have the French WD.
Apparently Vect has been anticipating it for a while and has other Webway pockets with resources to escape to. But Commoragh is done.
Still could be fake, but it seems to mess up with what we know so far.

I actually agree but the short quoted post didn't make any distinction so I didn't know if he was aware of them. I'm not sure why (other than just blind faith/hope) folks would expect new unit models when the Fall of Cadia despite the name got no new cadian units (or SOB, Templar, =I=, or Mechanicus unit).

They said 2017 would be big. I never thought it would be THIS big February and we are looking at the birth of a new God, an entire new "race" of united Eldar and Dark Eldar and a destroyed Cadia.

This is freakin' amazing

Yes, very impressive and I'll be picking them up for sure but I was talking about the guardians which seem to be a mash up of the current kit and the finecast storm guardians.
