A user on the French warhammer forum (noct) has the new white dwarf. Preorder is on the 4th for the book and the figs. The book is the same price and the triumvirate will be €60. The imperial one is €65. The following week there is some Eldar ruins and hostile forests scenery (google translate) for €105. They also say that we will hear about the next book in the next white dwarf. A book a month seems pretty crazy.

Oh man. They brought back the concept of the "Blood Forests" from Warhammer Fantasy! YESSS!
I really hope this is true. Really, really, really, really hope so.

Part 1 - Imperials - Jan

Part 4 - Marines? - Apr
Then 8E drops in May
The schedule makes a lot of sense.

Only thing I don't agree with is why end it with Space Marines? This is about Chaos. I would think Abbadon would be the big milestone and the release of his mini. Anything after that would just be meh especially if it's just space marines. Unless this will be the introduction of a Primarch. That would be what making the Ultramarines the poster boys again for 8th edition? Ugh. What a way for GW to say "don't collect 40K, Ultramarines would be in your face all the time again for the next 2-4 years".

Xenos terrain. Oh GW, stop, my wallet can't take much more: the books are auto-buys and I'm doing my best to resist the triumvirates. I can only hope 8E is a revolution, I really, really, REALLY want to enjoy playing 40k.

Because the Black Crusade will eventually be stopped and pushed back? I assume nobody believes (at least after the comments from WHTV) that Chaos will run straight till Terra, right?

Two words: Pry Mark. Oh really that's one word. Primarch. The final Marine box will have a returned Primarch in it.

Nah, " SM" triumvirate will be Lion el'jonson, Rowboat Gorillaman and Jagathai Khan riding a landraider. They'll punch all the baddies from the galaxy and everything will be rainbows and sunshine.

Chaos is just there to be a opponent - its never about them
Prefer Vulkan - lets have some stuff for some other First Founding Chapters rather than the usual Angels, Ultras and Wolves - they are well past scraping the bottom of the barrel for special units for the Wolves and Angels.

Ooh, you made me remember something! I forgot about the loyalist Primarch. That could be the lead into 8th edition. But I think they would sell that separately like Magnus, not bundled in a triumverate package.
So, Dorn, new Chapter Master for X Chapter of Space Marines (You can't kill High Marshal Helbrect. donkey-caves), Grey Knight Champion (They're kind of like Space Marines)?

This looks like a good prediction in my view with a prim arch dropping in April before the update.
Would love for there to be some updated elder and chaos models in the month of their releases Do people think that this is possible given that the book is coming out at the beginning of the month? They could reveal the new models once the books are in peoples hands.

If GW was trying to hock rules for only the competitively broken armies, why have we seen nothing for Necrons and Eldar rules-wise since their respective codexes, but we have seen...what was it now, FIVE chaos marine supplements in the last year? This is not to say CSM doesn't deserve rules support, they do and I'm super glad that they're now a solid upper mid-tier/mono-build high tier army thanks to TL, but it really doesn't support the narrative that GW somehow only supports those factions that are already strong.
Hoo boy.
Let's do this.
5 Chaos Marine supplements you say? Sure, let's go there.
Black Legion - reprint of the 6th ed. Supplement.
Crimson Slaughter - reprint of the 6th ed. Supplement.
Traitor's Hate - new, I will give you that....
Wrath of Magnus - also new, I will give you that....
Wait....wait a minute. Wait. No.
Both reprinted in Traitor Legions.
Heck, why are CSM still using a base codex that harks back to the very start of 6th edition? Why are they still using horrendously overpointed units and upgrades, crippled by a lack of options because 'you might possibly get them in the boon table' ?
5 new supplements and you can comfortably say that 3 of them are giant reprints.
Hell, you want to count the amount of new Imperial SM supplements you got in the same time frame, including dataslates and campaign books?
I mean, bad enough the Traitor Astartes Disciplines (which are basically the SM Disciplines with spoooooooooooooooky names) have been printed in 3 books out of the 5.
Let's see...Angels of Death. Clan Racoon and Sentinels of Terra are reprints so by your standard they don't count, and all the content from the campaign books is reprinted in Angels of Death.
By your standard, Space Marines have gotten one supplement. But, that's not really how it works, is it? here's a list of major armies who have gotten substantial non-codex supplementary material in 7th:
Chaos Marines (not competitive)
Space Marines (Competitive)
Tyranids (not competitive)
Tau (Competitive)
Imperial Guard (not competitive)
Space Wolves (Competitive)
Daemons (Competitive)
And here's the list of major armies who haven't (i'm not counting cop-out stuff like Angels Blade and Waaagh Ghazghkull """"""2nd Edition"""""")
Blood Angels (not competitive)
Eldar (competitive)
Dark Eldar (Not competitive)
Necrons (Competitive)
Grey Knights (not competitive)
Dark Angels (Competitive)
Orks (not competitive)
So, if the argument is " GW only releases supplements and new rules for the competitive factions waaaaaaaaah" then that is objectively and pretty much completely untrue. Since their codex release 2 years ago, Eldar have gotten a Start Collecting formation, and a single character clampack without new rules. If you want to complain about Eldar getting content because their codex is strong? Fine, go for it. If you want to complain about eldar getting content because "Eldar always get content!" or "Competitive factions are the only ones getting content!" then you can go ahead, but you'll be pretty much wrong. This mention that the supplement will focus on "units that aren't useful in competitive play" is interesting to me because to my knowledge it's the only time GW has admitted competitive play even EXISTS in years.

BTW in regards to the Blog from the Blood God rumor, I am still banking on Abbs coming back in a new body, it's too convinient to leave the character the entire story revolves around out until the third book, again reminds me of Archaon. I mean why else would Celestine get to stab him through the spine, I bet he has those titanium legs Lt. Dan bragged about to Forrest.
Yup
hostile forests scenery! I knew I saw something in that pic!

Why does everyone assume gathering storm will conclude before 8th? They said 2017 will be a celebration with a year of campaigns and events, they could just as easily drop 8th in April and continue on with the story later, after all the campaign books only have a few character profiles each. Primarchs could be next Christmas big release like Magnus was

A Primarch would be a perfect counter to stop / give the 13th Black Crusade a run for the money. I dunno why, but it feels right to see a Loyalist Primarch being released in a shiny box. So far there's always been a big model, he would fit the bill

That is my guess as well. They will be pushed back eventually to keep the status quo. What did WHTV say?
That they won't blow up the universe... just a few planets.
Perhaps more than keep the status quo but to allow for a herioc ending of sorts where everything still changes. Like Ragnarok, most died but hey.,. a new beginning.
