Wow, we've come to the last challenge in the annual rotation already! So naturally, we need an awesome subject to paint! This month, the options are:

Black and White: Your entry should feature significant black or white areas (or both!). Both are very interesting colours to paint that can be approached in a ton of different ways, so model choice here is less important than how you paint it!

We Have The Technology: Your entry should be something with technology that is particularly advanced for it's setting and faction. Whether that's a Tau commander with the latest experimental weaponry or a Freeguild Engineer with one of those new-fangled repeater rifles, technology will carry the day here!

Saints And Sinners: Almost every setting has some kind of deity, religion or belief system, good or evil, holy or unholy. Your entry should relate to this in some way, for example a mighty warrior in the service of Dark Gods, a crusading knight or a holy man preaching to the masses.

All In The Technique: Entrants should paint with an emphasis on trying new or advanced techniques, anything from your first attempt at some weathering to perfecting freehand banners, from simple OSL glows to SENMM madness!

Heh, my vote put it at a 4 way tie. I’m sure that will change, but it shows that all the topics are getting some love.

The only one I’d need to think about what to paint would be the Saints and Sinners, and I’m sure I’ve got something kicking around.

And as I wrote that, I know what I’d do. Ogre in the colors of the Vatican Guard.

But I voted Black and White. Have an apothecary that needs some work. Or Deathwatch. Or both.

hmm...well, I voted for "All In The Technique"...honestly, that seems to capture the general spirit of this monthly challenge fairly well, so it seems kinda fitting to have the last one of this "year" dedicated to it

also, it seems like the kind of thing that will work for pretty much everyone...and motivation to push ourselves to try new things is always good

...it's good to be green!

Saints and Sinners for me, so I can do my Reverend Healer

Will settle for All in the Technique since I'll try blending her cloak and hair.

A Protoss colony world

I voted Black and White, but I could do something for any of them.
Black and White: I'll do some Ravenwing, as they are definitely black and white!
We Have The Technology: I've got lots of Tau stuff that needs paint. I would probably do my Riptide, as it is full of advanced tech even for the Tau.
Saints and Sinners: I've got the limited-edition Interrogator-Chaplain from Dark Vengeance, and he can definitely use some paint.
All In The Technique: I can probably do one of my Dark Angels vehicles and give it some weathering. That's something I've never really attempted before.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

I voted saints and sinners cause I fell that would be cool and an excuse to make a diorama base of sorts for a couple models. Don know exactly what I'll paint up for it but I'm sure I've got plenty of options.
I could definitely do something for any of them though.
Black and white: could paint another sons of Malice piece either individual or squad for my kill-team
Technology: definitely could figure something out, maybe paint up my nurgle scratch built rhino if that would count.
Technique: could definitely try my hand at some freehand work as that's something I've always wanted to do but never had the confidence so that would be a solid push/test of skill.

Voted Black and White but could've easily voted Saints and Sinners as I ordered the recent Made to Order Space Marine Chaplain on Bike before New Years, so might be able to do that if Technology doesn't win.

How can I have nearly 500 miniatures to paint and have no idea what to paint for any of these categories?

Actually, how on Earth can I have nearly 500 miniatures to paint? I have a serious problem...

To be honest, I'm just hoping black and white doesn't win, because the things I was going to paint for it last month I just went ahead and started for this one.

Also felt, you're doing better than I am on that...

I... actually don't know. Help?

Might be unrelated, but how about a competition that lasts an entire year? Like you have to be finished the 31st of december 2017?

oh trust me mate, I know exactly how you feel!

sounds like an interesting idea...I don't think it should replace this monthly themed challenge we have going here, but as a separate thing it could work...I would be concerned with plans and ideas getting muddied up over the course of a full year though...it could get a little hard to keep a thread like that under control...

Poll still running? Or can we start on the build phase?

We have the technology, we can rebuild him. Better. Faster. Stronger then he was before.

Yep, that's a wrap. Tech next month, March will be Space Marines as usual and Saints and Sinners will crop up in a future poll at some point.

So I'm assuming a scratch built nurgle rhino wouldn't count towards that? Hmm what to do, what to do...

While excavating upon Holy Terra deep below the hives of what once was called Merica in the middle of that continent between the large lakes a discovery was found. The ruins of a place called Lambeau Field. This was one of the original Blood Bowl Arena's, it is so very old that it was before weapons were allowed to be carried by the teams. In honour of that discovery a new team has been sponsored to do battle in the colors of the old team. using the very best of new technology

Not sure if I've got anything that really fits the theme. You could argue that Power Armour is a technology beyond what some other races have, but I'd like a less tenuous link.

What I've got ready to paint in Feb:

- Drop pods (although might struggle to finish in Feb)
- Space marine bikes
- Terminators
- Sternguard
- RT Land Speeder

Anyone want to put ideas forward for how any of that can fit the theme?

Dark Angels/Deathwing - just getting started!
Space Marines - Stark Crusaders 4500pts/PL244 (2700pts painted)
Eldar - Biel Tan 2000pts

TDA is often referred to as the finest armor the IoM can make. Could qualify. Sternguard basic, or with combis? Combi weapons would fit.

I think the RT land speeder would count, as it is technology that most of the 40k Imperium wouldn't have.

Thanks guys, think it might be the Land Speeder. More chance of finishing then! Although would love to get my termies done too.
