This might seem like an odd question, but with cards no longer available, is there an official policy on what to do if someone's War Room device crashes

Do you just, like, insta-lose!? I'll be honest, paranoia over this is what's had me still using cards

What do you mean by "cards no longer available"? Is PP no longer producing cards for the models and forcing everyone to go digital? I certainly hope not; I like tabletop games that don't require electricity to play.

As far as the application or device crashing? I don't know. If the battery dies, that could count as a forfeit. But if the device crashes in some way, that might be a forgivable offense. I mean, if a player doesn't have enough sense to keep their device charged, then they might deserve a mild form of punishment, but if things crash against their control then they shouldn't have to suffer for it.

I actually haven't had to re-buy cards since they announced it, but they were switching to a print on demand service for cards, so you couldn't just buy a pack in the shop anymore. But I'm old school and like my cards

It's in the steamroller pack I think.

But the rule is, if war room loses power and it cannot be recovered then you lose the match by forfeit.

But PP are releasing the cards online which you can then print off. Because of the changes by the erratras, officially rereleasing the cards is pointless.

Makes complete sense, thanks.

On the cards, did they not partner with a printing service? I'd love to update a few of mine, but would like them to match the quality of the others I have...

I don't think so.

I think because they expect to move to a full living rulebook that Warroom is the way to go. It's good when it works.

Also worth noting, War Room 2 is WAY better about auto saving. Every time I've seen it crash or have any sort of problem, the game state is saved as I expect after loading it back up. This doesn't help if you run out of power entirely, but I haven't seen a technical issue create an unrecoverable game state the way I'd see with the prior version of the app.

Same here.

Actually I've closed Warroom at the end of a match, only to go back on it next week, and it still has the previous match loaded up.

They are no longer making physical cards, however they are going to make all cards available to download as a free PDF, so you can just print out physical copies if you don't want to go digital. The downside is that the PDFs may not get updated with errata or new content as fast as Warroom.

They are pushing more towards using Warroom, but they're leaving the option open for those who do not want to do this. At least last this was discussed it was the situation. After they nuked the forums they might have changed their minds on a lot of things.

Warroom2 is much better at not crashing. I've never had a crash yet. And its less draining on the battery. It also saves games better, so even if you run out of power if you quickly plug in your game should still be up. I sometimes find games from several weeks past still up on the app.

As for official policy, if all you have is Warroom and your device crashes or otherwise makes the game lost and you cannot quickly rectify it, like by having something of a back up or you fail to get it running again, then you forfeit the match in a competitive setting. I have never EVER heard of this actually occurring though. Someone somewhere probably had it happen, but it doesn't really happen in any concerning amount. The rule for this is really just a "in-case of fire, break glass" situation.

Even back when I used War Room 1 I didn't have a problem.

As far as gamers go, if you're like me you accumulate devices
like normal people accumulate STIs. I now have my ipad and
a backup Kindle Fire.

The official policy is that if you lose access to your list and can't get it back somehow you forfeit the game.

In practice if you're using a device with wifi turned off, nothing else running in the background, and the screen brightness not on too high you will never actually have this problem (unless it's a really old device with a knackered battery or something like that). War Room is a very stable app and doesn't make many demands on the system it's running on.

(Most people will carry 2+ devices (ipad plus phone as a backup for me) and/or chargers just in case, though.)
