The jumping through said hoops has put me off from Meklab and the like for a good long while, making gak more easily accessible is one of those things that not a lot of folks think is a priority. But whinge aside, love it, has been my go-to resource for record sheets and 'Mech building.

CGL is working on vapourware timelines with some of their stuff.. when it's done, it's done!

Meklab is definitely annoying to get to work but i like that you can convert ranges and movement to inches a set what scale you want to use.

I have finished painted a Enforcer still preparing to get everything ready for a mercenary campaign.

Considering the MegaMek people aren't charging us for a finished product, as annoying as it is to get it to work at times, I can't complain too much.

Mostly getting the right Java to load, and sometimes some settings need to be set up afterwards.

I just installed it on a friend's Laptop, and it was giving me artifacts all over the place when I went to a drop down menu.

For myself, it's just getting all the Configurations, Settings, HUD.pngs, and the huge host of customized files. Yes, I know there I can use a unified folder to minimize that hassle, but I've run in to problems with that, too.

My Gothic salvage boxes came in.. two Scorpions and three different Atlas mechs. Had hoped for a Marauder.

Noice! Love me a Marauder and Hunchback, both are on my commander's wishlist as replacements for her Locust.

Two more weeks until we pick up with our own Mercenaries campaign again, which will, aside from me hopefully getting an upgrade for the Locust, see us complete our first contract and set a course from there.

But first, they'll need to root out some bandits. I can finally use that awful box canyon mat and have a Scorpion holed up there guarding the entrance, while another medium is waiting in ambush, powered down. As icing on the cake, a Charger will be flanking at some point, gunning for the group's Catapult, let's see how they respond to that one.

Sorry to interject into this thread, but I was told by a guy at the shop that there is a Battletech expansion coming out that has a version that will allow you to play by yourself.

Is this real?

It's called Battletech: Aces, and is for playing with the Alpha Strike ruleset. They have 4 planned boxes, one for each of the main ilclan books, and the first one (Scouring Sands) sounds like it's supposed to be out at the end of November. It uses a card-based AI system so you can either play solitaire, or cooperatively against an AI opponent and has a campaign in the box.

They are working on developing a similar AI system for Classic.

The box is pretty sweet and I plan on getting it as soon as possible. It comes with a 2 Fulcrum hovertanks, a Howler, Locust IIC, Rifleman C2, Thunderbolt IIc, a Summoner, a Bane 3 (the crazy missile one), and a Marauder IIC. Also comes with some pretty cool looking cardstock hills and river sections.

Thanks.

I've never played Alpha Strike. Is it fun? I've played the regular edition for a long time though.

@Lathe
Alpha strike is designed to play large battle in a short amount of time, i don't care for the lack of depth in alpha strike compared to what i enjoy in regular classic battle tech, but i am only usually playing lance on lance so the time constraints are effectively the same it is just the number of units that differs.

I primarily play lance on lance games using the BattleMech Manual.

Not really worth investing in Alpha Strike then?

Only if you want that lance on lance fight to last 15 or 20 minutes
The mechs have hit points for armor and internals. No armor layouts or hit locations.

You roll to hit as normal (2d6 + pilot skill + range + TMM-target move mod) then do flat damage listed for that range

The old cauldron born here has 6 armor points and 4 internal- hit it with 10 damage and it is dead.

ACES was delayed a little bit, and CGL isn't confident it will be here by the announced Black Friday release date.

Similarly the Kurita Packs were delayed till January.

They have a podcast every Tuesday called the Tuesday Newsday on YouTube. They sometimes have updates on everything. Someone puts up notes on what they talk about and posts it on the Battletech Forums.

Got some painting done. This will be presented in 2 batches, as it just ends up being a lot. Some have been done for a while, I just felt that the individual batches were just too small.

First a Clan Wolf Repaint:
Spoiler:

Pouncer, Atlas II, Dire Wolf, and Hellbringer.

A mostly repainted group:
Spoiler:

Battle Cobra, Crossbow, and Wolfhound

A Clan Hells Horses Repaint:
Spoiler:

Mist Lynx, Ice Ferret, Arctic Cheetah

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Next up are some salvage and BA.

CGL and IWM Salvage first:
Spoiler:

Dervish, Ostroc, Charger, and Wulfen H

Asura Wobbie Battle Armor
Spoiler:

Perspective shot with the Asura Battle Armor in front of a Mercury, surrounded by other IS Battle Armor.
Spoiler:

Managed to snag both a lunar / city mat and a generic grasslands / desert map today, good times all round as map products are stupidly hard to get around here. The latter in particular will be a welcome addition seeing as I already have craptons of forest and hill tokens from other sets. Also, finally some mats that are also not very limited in application or well, just weird choices, like the box canyon.

Nice catch! Having a good set of maps keeps things from getting too boring.

---------------------------

How does one complete two lances in a week?
1) Complete half of each lance a week before or more.
2) Complete the rest of the two lances in another week.

Pursuit Lance:
Spoiler:

Clint, Dervish, Hermes II, Cicada

Heavy Recon Lance:
Spoiler:

Assassin, Merlin, Charger, Ostroc

Ah, the Merlin! We faced off against three of those during a raid mission this Sunday, they acted as corporate security. Tough bastards.

I had them face a Charger in the mission before, had it hide powered down in a gully and then when the time was right, home in on the team's Catapult. It didn't get any hits in, but until it was put down many turns later, it served as the perfect distraction Carnifex to keep the Catapult and BJ-1DB from being too effective.

Nice, getting Homeworld vibes from that scheme with those red lines.

Love my Locust in our current campaign game, I hit fluff all, but at full speed am hard to hit myself, making for a nuisance while the others do the actual damage. And haha, I still need to finish my own horde lance, it'll fun to throw at the players once we hit Kurita space.

I've been wanting to paint a HW Taiidan scheme for the longest time, but painting yellow was such a horrible experience... fortunately at Btech size now we can use contrast to great results.
For annoying players use the Locust 1E for extra lasering.

Light 'Mechs can either be scenario saviors or a flash in the pan. It's rare when they are of middling use.

I'm not a fan of any Light 'Mech that moves 6/9, even worse if it can't Jump. It's too slow to have enough defense, and too fast to have enough offense.

The Valkyrie has decent firepower for a Light, even if it scatters around.

Yeah, once I figure out how to best go about it with the Hinterlands warchest system, I am going to remove the MG's and ammo from my Locust and replace them with a pair of small lasers and a TAG, so I can at least try and be useful for our Catapult, which should tide me over until we hit it good with either salvage or a lucky mech market find.

Hinterlands doesn't really address customizing units.

The Chaos Campaign book might, I haven't looked in to it.

So, for my next batch, I ran in to some issues. One, my "Wobbie" scheme didn't really have that look, so it didn't really do for a "ComStar" look, either. Two, the main paint used in the scheme is simply no longer available as far as I could find, and I am running way low.

So, I took some efforts to correct that with the next 'Mechs I had scheduled, and it worked well enough that I'm starting another repaint log with it. The stripping for this one will go slower because I'm not mixing it with two other schemes, just replacing as they come.

First is one bit of Salvage scheduled for it, and 2 repaints.
Spoiler:

Exterminator, Thug, Phoenix Hawk SP.

Next is more Salvage, but this one has some Brown Pants included.
Spoiler:

Mercury, Banshee, Marauder.

Last up for show is for a second Fire Support Lance I got, mostly so I could paint them in the Coromodir Corsairs (local campaign force) colors, and the Stalker gets the Fetid Claws treatment.
Spoiler:

Stalker, Zeus, Longbow, Trebuchet
