Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

I already have a few Chaos Lords I use as Night lords Lords but they are all just variations on regular lords in a Night Lords colour scheme; I want to make a Lord which is quintessentially a Night Lord. That means skull helmet, flayed skin, bat wings, skulls, etc.

I want a base model that can correctly convey the psychopathic leader of my warband but I've got a bit stuck, the closest thing I can find that comes close is the Terror squad sergeant from FW (I know there is NL Chaos Lord but I don't particularly like the model) but I don't know if I'm convinced. Maybe he'd look a lot better once converted to be more Lord like and more psychopathic but I wanted to ask you guys if you know of an alternative which is better.

I'd also like to ask if you know of any nice bitz that would make a nice addition to this conversion.

I'm hoping I can make a model which strikes fear into my opponant (and potentially makes his army gak themselves (despite the fact I am running the less than scary Night Lords detachment))

Thanks!

I used the metal Kharn, replaced his arms and feet with old metal raptor ones, lightning claws, added an old metal jump pack with belakor wings attached, and replaced the bunny ears with bat wings. Not sure where he is at the moment, but worked really well.

There’s a difference between having a hobby and being a narcissist.

Jesus! You did those conversions on a metal model? You have my respect sir!

I would use a raptor legs, torso, lighting claws. for the wings i think of vargheist wings. for the head an khorne berserker skull helmet without the bunny ear. And maybe greenstuff some flayed skin loincloth and some zombie hands for decoration.

resisting to kitbash is like resisting a nice cold drink on a hot burning day,

I'd suggest looking at the fantasy Vampire Counts line for good Night Lord bits. Here's a lord I did using extensive leftover vampire bits from the terrorgheist kit.

Night Lords are just vampires in space so all the pieces work great.

That is awesomeness on a base.
What is that weapon?
I was going to recommend old fantasy vampire bosses as well.
Many of my old orcs somehow fell 40,000years into space and ended up orks in this way to great effect.

It's the spear that comes with the vampire lord in the terrorgheist kit, put on one of the raptor kit arms with the upheld sword. The spear, helmet, skulls and base were all just leftover sprue parts with a raptor body for the base.

I'm not a massive fan of the bunny ears but your not wrong: the space Vampires could learn a thing or two from the reg Vampires. I'll definitely take a look at some of the Vampire line, thanks!

I've been thinking about getting him for ages, the guy looks amazing. He certainly has the best mug shot from the HH series:

Personally, I'm running a terminator sorcerer (Decimus) as my war lord with lightening claw, chain-fist combo and scourging chains relic. It's expensive, but now that I'm almost done converting it, I believe it was worth it.
