Even without Hastings or Atia, the process for this is pretty obvious from GW's perspective: it gives them an avenue for massive revenue- through releasing the whole Space Marine range all over again!

Still so much conjecture asserted as fact here.

But what happens to chaos marines, do they stay dwarfish (in comparison) and small? Do they get squatted? If they were going to give the AoS treatment to an army, why on earth would they start with their cash cow? The replacement of Space marines doesn't add up, which leaves supplement.

They may be a "new army" now, but like how terminators went up in size, I suspect as we get further down the road they'll become the standard size for all marine releases from a future point forward.
I wonder too about Chaos; if they do go with the new size/stats for SM, at some point they'll likely retcon it for CSM releases or it will confuse newcomers too much.

Which is still very ambiguous to say the least, and would not stop you getting a squad of numarines and inserting them into your army.
It makes the most sense from a sales perspective to do it like this.

Everyone reading this thread should assume that is what every post means, seeing as these mega marine things have not been released yet or explained thoroughly.
As for Hastings, he also said that there would be a plastic thunder hawk coming out as well.....

I think that GW will give big buffs to chaos cult troops like plague marines, khorne berzerkers and so on. Becous atm these cult troops that should be superior compared to normal chaos marines even with mark of chaos are just the same with bit better gear. Now these new girlyman marines are gonna be the imperiums answer to chaos cult troops. Becouse lets be honest fluff vise normal marines shouldnt stand a chance against things like plague marines or noise marines. But these new marines could fluff vise be at same powerlevel with chaos cult troops.

Personally I'm guessing even i they are a new unit enough folks will use them to replace their marines that the difference may well be negligible anyway.

the plastic thudnerhawk rumor was a newish one though, and the rumor mill useally starts prretty early, for all we know GW's sitting on a plastic thudnerhawk and the only reason it's not being sold is it's intended to be the big ticket item for the month AFTER 8ths release.

To be fair, FW did remove it's thunderhawk & replace it with a brand new version. I am sure no one who originally saw the new one and reported it touched it or was able to discern if it was plastic or resin at the time. So it's a little bit of splitting hairs really to outright dismiss hastings rumor on numarines because of the material used for the new thunderhawk he spoke about...
The numarines rumor, and their upcoming releases, are also spouted off by battle bunnies and atia (sp?).
The fact remains, there are new marines coming. Wether you can have a numarine army (costly no doubt, like trying to do a custodes army, small 29 model count), or have units in existing SM armies, is yet to be seen.
However, if someone is starting a space marine army, bet they'd choose the big numarines (run as regular marines) for their new army. I know that's what I plan to do.

You will not be the only one there you are bang on, and like many have surmised they might even fade out normal marines eventuality, I would not put it past them.
Myself I am just HH only now regarding my marines so it will not effect me that much, I hope !

The chaos cults are a mixed bag, they become stronger in some ways and weaker in others. For instance, they are more than a little mentally unhinged, which is reflected in their fearless nature (which may or may not be going away in 8th ed). Their blessings also come with serious side effects, from the deformities of Nurgle plague marines to the the unthinking rage of Khorne Berzerkers. If Nu-Marines are supposed to replace standard marines, chaos is going to need to upgrade their game as well.

There is a significant difference between someone who is 8' tall and stocky and someone wearing stilts.
Normal Skitarii aren't wearing stilts. They're human height in the lore, their legs are just replaced because they live in a place where the contamination in the ground is so high your legs dissolve as you age. A space marine in armour should be taller than a normal human, no?

I doubt the new marines will be corruption proof, I foresee some falling chaos just like now squads and whole companies/ chapters can fall. probably to be released in later years though once the shine has worn off. I am really hoping they buff the hell out of chaos even if the prices match point wise. a single plague marine should pose a legitimate threat to any 3 regular space marines for example

It's going to be an optional upgrade for every SM unit in every chapter, representing batches of NuMarine reinforcements being dispatched to every Chapter by Girlyman.
