I kinda assumed 2k would be the tournament standard for 8th way back when the GHB came out for sigmar.

A bare bones Tactical Squad will run 165.
Predators avg about 170

So it would be 50 Tacticals and 2 Predators for 2000ish points. Maybe can even upgrade one or two weapons...
or you could cut to 25 Tacticals, 5 Preds, and 5 Rhinos for 2035, skimp a tad on the Preds to get it under 2000.

And this is why transport spam is out. It's just too many points. What I think we will see is a lot more guys turning to units that have deep strike equivalent deployment. Same effect, less cost (mostly). A couple of armies, notably DE and Murderclowns, will likely be exceptions to the rule.

He knows that I know and you know that he actually doesn't know the rules at all.

Given the much lower opportunity cost of deep strike equivalent actions, I'd say you're right one. I need to read and see if outflank is in. That'd help my forces a lot.

My local area was 1850 standard for 7E. With the points increases, I am hoping that 2k becomes the standard.
It would allow players to take "most" of what they were taking in 1850, yet it will still be smaller games.

Plus, I've never really liked 1850. 2K is a much more rounded, pleasing number.
100 Power level will hopefully be standard too, for the same reason

With the removal of blasts, you can group up your infantry far more. You have to be careful of assaults catching extra units, but force concentration will definitely go up. That makes large armies far more pleasant to play with, which I am really looking forward to in 8th.

Maybe it's not as grouped up as you think. AOS has no templates either yet long congo lines are standard there.

You can get your unit out of Attack range by that concept, though. Maybe not for the original Attacks, but following up with it in later Turns more difficult. Counter to that is the difficulty of bringing the full press of the unit in to the Fight as well.

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?

I used the leaked info to create some army lists and.......just like people have been saying stuff costs a lot in this edition, other than the basic infantry. When I compare to my old 6th edition lists (I did not play much 7th) It seems at 1500 the list is 1-2 units less, and at 1850 about 2-3 units less. And my current list builds for Thousand Sons is Ahriman, Demon Prince w/ wings TS, 5 Scarab Oucult Terminators, 9 Thousand Sons, 9 Thousand Son, 20 Cultist, TS Dreadnought, TS Predator, Hell Drake which is at 1655. Also, there is very minimum upgrades to the Rubics (I have the old models), and the predator is the TLC with LC one. You will notice that there is no Rhinos currently either. When you build a list, taking things like power fists, special/heavy weapon upgrades etc, adds up quick. I think you will see a lot more units not maxed out this edition, especially if the standard does not go to 2000. Based on the lists I built (basic chaos, daemons, thousand sons) I would like to see it at 2000 for standard games, and maybe even 3000 if you want to play some large (but not Apocalypse) battle. Tournaments will probably go 2000. And if you want a small quick-y battle, 1500 in this edition will be like a skirmish (which could be fun). That is my thoughts.
