Well the leaked Space Marine info has drop pods showing it as transporting 10 chapter infantry models. Dreadnoughts do not have the infantry tag so it looks like the days of the MM/PF Dread giving the big hello is gone. Also the Furioso Frag Cannon + Flamer salute seems to be dead too.

That's a pretty big shift for marine players and the end of a pretty common piece of a lot of armies. Looks our dreads will have to walk across the battlefield now.

It's also one less reason to take the now 100 point drop pod.

More 40k armies than 40k time ...

Well, more money saved for me. I was gonna buy a couple of more for my possible all dread army.

Now I won't.

Or they are creating a new Dreadnought-only pod.

Doesn't sound farfetched.

it would make sense, considering most marine players are already fitted for their pods due to Alpha Strike armies and Battle Companies.

Plus the idea that a dread can fit in the current pod model is hilarious and unrealistic.

So is 10 marines in a rhino, but that is still in effect.

Me and a store manager once did try to fit 10 marines into a rhino via conversions.

Surprisingly it IS possible. But they'd be packed in there like sardines and the top hatch has to be opened. However that was fine since their power armor filled in the gaps, so to speak.

Drop pods are crutches and boring anyways. They should cost a hundred points plus. I am happy they will be used more selectively.

There is a diagram somewhere by GW that shows how Marines clown-car into a Rhino.

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!
War Kitten- Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...
koooaei- Emperor: I envy your nipplehorns. <Magnus goes red. Permanently>
Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.
mrhappyface- "They're more what you'd call guidlines than actual rules" - Captain Roboute Barbosa
Steve steveson- To be clear, I'd sell you all out for a bottle of scotch and a mid priced hooker.

They did say that no models in current circulation will be obsolete in the new edition - so the dreads will still be able to use their pattern drop pods [luscious or something] ....

If they managed it, they'd need the jaws of life to open the box to get back out. There is no way they're moving around in there.

They have to do a reverse back roll out of the side of the rhinos and the back, but they can get out.

It's a genius plan in the overall scheme of the omnissiah, if they can't move there's no room for them to get hurt when a carnifex starts shaking it like a tin can. Also the ridgidity of power armour wedged in there greatly increases the structural integrity of the vehicle.

Grey Knights - 3500pts
SKitarii - 4000pts
Ad mech - 2000pts
Imperial Knights - 1000pts
Black Templars - 3200pts
Genestealer cults - 1750

The Omnissiah provides.

Hmmm maybe I should hold off on assembling that wayward drop pod I've had lying around.

I saw with eyes then young, and this is my testament.

Lost my Centurion Pod also, but now I'll have to deliver them in a Raven instead, which doesn't seem to have any disembarking restrictions... Dump them out and fly off?
