actually they're noit, the rules say guardsmen have lasguns, you don't have a choice to take them without a gun.
what I mean by optional is like a predator's sponsons, they'll be extras you can add, and stuff that you can go without. if thats the case we might be able to build "cleaner" versions.
we'll have to wait and see.

This is probably the only new model I see as kind of over the top even for 40k. I like the turret and that would have been cool as just an add on screw but the hull comes off a bit silly. The missiles everywhere and just the way it sits on a base. I could forgive it if it had tracks but it's really busy. I wouldn't talk bad about it to anyone if I saw it on the table top but it lacks in making me want to buy it for sure.
Reminds me of that silly hover tank from bf4 snow map dlc. Land speeders are way cooler and it seems unnecessary. Like what advantage does it have over a tank with tracks that an amphibious chimera or hovering speeder don't offer?
I mean it's cool but just too busy for me. I've never said it but............... too much dakka :(

Oh my god, they added the hover tank from bf2142 into bf4? 2142 was one of my favourite games, and the last bf I ever played (or maybe that was bad company). That tank was awesome, as it could keep the front towards enemy whilst jinking all over the place. Thanks for the nostalgia trip.

Quite frankly this looks utterly stupid, and not just because the Imperium categorically lacks Grav tech t the point that even in its finest hours it lacked the ability to create new designs. Just look at this thing, it has:
A twin lascannon in the hull
A lascannon in the turret
A coaxial Heavy Stubber/Autocannon
A pintle mounted oversized Gatling
Missile pods bolted onto the turret cheeks
Missile pods bolted onto the turret sides
Missile pods bolted on over the side hatches
Missile pods bolted onto the rear
What looks like freaking transport capacity
The hull is pretty much a landraider with the tracks ripped off
All this and more on a magic floating Landraider. It sounds stupid because looks stupid because it is stupid. There is no way a chassis that size can support that many weapon systems, let alone transport troops as well, and it just lacks any reason to exist. Not to mention the stupid idea of a tank being a Tank Destroyer, a MBT, an APC, a Missile Destroyer and a MLRS system all at once.
The Land Speeder was technically a new design, produced in the 31st Millennium, based on the data recovered by Land (mostly data regarding the grav plates). The Custodes and Sisters of Silence had access to advanced grav vehicle designs, produced exclusively for them by the Mechanicus. And that is not counting the Javelin and Jetbike used by the Space Marine Legions.
Anti-gravity technologies were not completely lost to the Imperium by the 41st Millennium. Just harder (and expensive) to produce and maintain.

that combined with the fact that star ships in the IoM still have artifical gravity.
as for the tank being a "Tank destroyer, a MBT, a APC, a missile destroyer and a MLRS all at once" that's a lot of salt for something we don't know much about.
according to the links those missiles are just a glorified frag assault launcher (something land raider crusaders have) once you remove that, it has 3 las cannons a stubber, and an anti-infantry pintal gun.
it's not much more heavily armed then a razorback. and it's basicly about halfway between a predator and a land raider.
seems fine to me

This. I was not in love with primaris space marine but I was in doubt. Then came that HUGE dreadnaught that feels totally out of the game sizewise. Then came that repulsor that is too big, too gun, too grav. Did not make any sense. I liked the madness of the imperium this mixture of forbiden technology and medieval occultism. This repulsor killed that beautiful concept that I liked so much.
When the first pictures of giant marines leaked I was worried but this is much much worse to me, it is not just a problem of size or aestetic, it is a problem of concept.

Rumored repulsive Repulsor stats on Faeit212 (apparently from "good sources" ) :
Power level 14
S7 T8 W13 Sv3+
Turret - Heavy Lascannon, Heavy Stubber
*Resolve shots with Heavy Stubber first, if the Heavy Lascannon targets a unit hit by the Stubber, it may reroll misses
Hull-mounted Twin Lascannon, swivels up/down and left/right
Rotor cannon is a pintle mounted upgrade
Missiles: Roll a D6 at the start of each fight phase for each enemy unit within 1", on a 4+ it takes D3 mortal wounds (slightly better Frag Assault Launchers)
Transport Capacity 7, can only transport Primaris Marines
Decays its Movement/BS/Attacks as it loses wounds
Movement 10" BS 3+ Attacks 3 base

I noticed that White Scars are featured in previews of the new book. Was in the process of putting together an army, but now want to switch over to using the new larger marines.
Will probably hold off until they release bikes and flyer models for the big guys. Makes no sense to field White Scars without 'em.
How far off d'ya think that will be?

yeah, it could happen, but for now at least they seem to be deliberatly trying to give Primairis Marines and standard Marines their own distinct niches
someone likened it to temptus scions vs standard guardsmen, not a bad way to think of it

the turret has a single las cannon, a stubber, and a one shot missle pod. ohh and a pintle mounted gun
a predator could have TWO las cannons, a pintal mounted gun, and I've seen people put the hunter killer missile there,

With out the turret missiles (and assuming the hull launchers are Assault Launchers) its got roughly the same number of weapons as a Predator.
Predator has one gun in the turret (two if you add Storm Bolter) and two in sponsons. Repulsor has 3 in turret, plus those Missiles, plus antennas. The turret is just way too crammed with stuff when compared with older 40K tanks. One would hope they would keep some kind of consistency in how much guns they cram in the models because they look so stupid when put side-by-side, and also make no sense from fluff standpoint.
There is a Heavy Lascannon now?
the turret has a single las cannon, a stubber, and a one shot missle pod. ohh and a pintle mounted gun
a predator could have TWO las cannons, a pintal mounted gun, and I've seen people put the hunter killer missile there,
A Heavy Lascannon, A Heavy Stubber, a pintle mounted Gatling Cannon and at least four one shot missile pods. Plus any Hunter Killers you choose to add.
