I can't see anywhere in the leaked index about company Banners and their Banner guys. Does this mean buffs from banners are gone? I have a HQ squad of DA with a Banner guy so would hate to just use him as a normal vet.

I think they're called "Ancients" now

So there is only one banner now for just normal Dark Angels Vets? Bummer... Was looking forward to having different buffs depending on play style

Not just now, Ancients is actually something that, I believe, cropped up in as early as at least the Index Astartes articles that ran in WD as the codex name for standard bearers. There is even an Ultramarine standard bearer special character referred to as an ancient in one of the old Chapter Approved compilations from 3rd Edition. I'd also need to check the UM codex for 2nd Edition, but it may have been in there as well (possibly even the same special character come to think of it, considering Invictus was statted up in both sources as well).

As for DA not getting their sacred standards, that's to be expected. Brother Bethor hasn't been a current special character since 2nd Edition, there are no models depicting the three sacred standards anymore, and most chapters do not have relics that aren't the proprietary domain of a specific special character in the indices.

They'll almost definitely come back when our codex comes along, but they aren't the kind of thing you'd find in this release.

That said, those RW and DW Ancients are amazing. Finally no need to take a full command squad in order to buff your DWK's! Combine with Asmodai for extra fun (hey, an edition where people will actually take Asmodai because he's good!).

Haha, I use the 2nd edition brother model! All my DAs are from 1st to 3rd edition metals because I wanted an oop army and it was cheap.
