Subject: [1569] - Tyranids - Need advice on my next step!

Hi guys! I've put together my first tyranid list, and I'm soon to be ready for my first ever game with tyranids! I'm really excited for the new edition!
This list is all I've acquired so far(the swarm box, start collecting box and a trygon). Almost all of it is magnetized, and i haven't glued on the weapons on my termagants yet. My hive tyrant isn't glued together yet either, I can't decide weather I want to have him on foot to be able to proxy him as The swarmlord, or give him wings. My warriors are magnetized as well, so i can field them as Tyranid prime or regular warriors.
In this list I have one battalion- and one outrider detachment. I am one one heavy support choice away from a spearhead detachment. So maybe that should be my next purchase? I was thinking tyrannofex or exocrine?
Maybe i should get another start collecting box? But i also want genestealers with a brood lord, and another trygon.
I would also love some input on what to buy next and how to kit out my gants.
Sorry for being so indecisive. any input is appreciated, here's my list:
Hive Tyrant with wings - Monstrous boneswords,Prehensile pincer tail,Adrenal glands,Toxin sacs
Tyranid Prime - Deathspitter,Rending claws
Hormagaunts (30) - Toxin sacs,Adrenal glands
Hormagaunts (10) - Toxin sacs,Adrenal glands
Termagants (30) - 20 Fleshboarer, 10 Devourer
Termagants (10)
Tyranid Prime - Deathspitter, Rending claws
Gargoyle (10)
Gargoyle (10)
Sky-slasher Swarm (4)
Tyranid Prime - Deathspitter,Rending claws
Trygon Prime - Bio-electric pulse with containment spines,Three massive scything talons,Biostatic rattle,Toxin sacs,Adrenal glands
Carnifexes - Heavy venom cannon,Two devourer with brainleech worms,Bone mace
Total: 1569

Hive Tyrant with wings - Monstrous boneswords,Prehensile pincer tail,Adrenal glands,Toxin sacs
-> 4 Monstrous boneswords? More than 2 have no effect. Toxin sacs are exepensive and buff your damage to 4 from 3. you only need them if you are going to hunt monstrous creatures/vehicles. Rending Claws will help you more in this case. Second weapon pair should be a range weapon, Deathspitters with Maggots are a solid option.
Tyranid Prime - Deathspitter,Rending claws
-> Good to fill the HQ Slots, but expensive, he is not good in Melee or Shooting, you got no normal Warriors he could buff.
Hormagaunts (30) - Toxin sacs,Adrenal glands
-> nice
Hormagaunts (10) - Toxin sacs,Adrenal glands
-> You only get the to-wound reroll at units above 20. Toxin Sacs are too expensive to use at low numbered units.
Trygon Prime - Bio-electric pulse with containment spines,Three massive scything talons,Biostatic rattle,Toxin sacs,Adrenal glands
-> Why Toxin Sacs? W6 damage not enough?
Carnifexes - Heavy venom cannon,Two devourer with brainleech worms,Bone mace
-> Deathspitter beat Devourer in 8th edition. But they still work.
-----> You have a solid footslogging horde. The Trygon prime should work well with the 30 hormagants. The swarmlord would buff them more, but without tyrant guards he will be the prime target and die fast. The Trrygon will die first the round after getting out of the tunnel; after this the Hive Tyrant. Now you are missing anything that could hurt the enemy. Youl will have to play the mission with this army. use you synapse and big units to capture objectives. Should be easy for you to always have more modells than your opponent at the objective marker. The Tyrannofex is not looking solid in this edition, the Exorine got buffed and is still less points. Some units of shooty Tyranid warrior would work good with your infantery heavy list and your Warrior Prime spam.

It has wings and two bone swords.
Thanks for the pointers!
I used the tyranid prime mostly to get the commandpoints. I could field them as warriors. I brought them to fill hq slots and help keep synapse. Automatically Appended Next Post: Can the flying hive tyrant have two pairs of cc weapons??

Yes, look int he Wargear list. You will find Monstrous Rending Claws, M.Boneswords, M.Sything Tailons and a pair of MScything Tailons. Two Melee Weapon pairs makes only sense with the pair of M. Scything Tailon. Alternatives are Rending Claws or Boneswords with one pair of range weapons. M. Rending Claws have the advantage of a point cost of zero.

Oh, ok. I didnt realize that. the model only has 4 slots. 2 of them are occupied by the wings.

I guess that you can call the legs/talons as the Scything set. With Bone Swords that is useful. I don't Think you want Venom with the Bone sabers because they Instant Death on 6's so why boost the Damage by one? I thing you could consider "Wing buffets" as a "Counts as Scything" if that sounds better to you.
My "Winged Assassin" has Bone sword and Whip, and I glued/Green stuffed a set of Devourers to her elbows, and it looks good to me... Automatically Appended Next Post: Also if you magnatised, try using the Carnifexen as twin Scything (maybe add Bio plasma if points alow) that might give you some inexpensive assault monstaers to draw the fire, (The classic "distraction Carnifex" )

Not yet Things that are very likely to be useful are...Moar Tyrants has been true for a long time, and is unlikely to change, and Genestealers these guys look like the "winners" of 8th Toss in a Brood lord or two and that give you some projects to work on.

Hey now I've done a little!
You could magnetize your tyrant as the swarm lord legs but also with wings so that you can run either from the same box. I just find that the magnets don't typically tend to hold strongly enough for my liking at that point. Some people recommend just pinning them, and it does work. I just find it tedious, although the transportation space alone that you save is insane.
That being said, I would probably grab another hive tyrant box. Just forget the magnetizing and build both lol. They're both just so good right now.
Old One Eye is another good pick up - he makes your Carnifex so much better (did you magnetize that bad boy for some scything talons?) and he's good on his own merits.
If you like shooting stuff, and Exocrine is just murderous right now. Much better than the Tyrannofex.
I tend to keep Gants cheap (just get more bodies than they have bullets) but the Hormagants may be an exception. Adrenal glands for sure and toxin sacs can be good too.
