Can the moderation team ban known, repeated, bad traders from posting in the Swap Shop? Users have been banned from other sub-forums before (Off Topic immediately comes to mind) so why not start preventing bad actors from participating in this forum?

OT is the only part of the site with different access rights from the rest of the site, so SS only bans aren't available. If you see a user with a bad trading record, just hit the yellow triangle of friendship to let us know and we will take a look. Every mod alert gets looked at, even if a mod decides it is not actionable.

Why don’t you guys tell him he is not welcome to enact any trades under any circumstances, ignoring once equals a vacation, twice equals removal? After all, IP addresses are checked to ensure multiple accounts aren’t created, right?

All moderation is done in private and on a case by case basis, but usually if someone has an unresolved TR we do invite them to stay out of SS until such time as it is resolved. We have issued site wide bans to bad swap users that continue to try to abuse the Swap Shop without resolving other issues. But we don't see every single post, and for sure can't see PMs, so we rely on users telling us things either with alerts or PMs to get our attention when someone falls through the cracks.

Well that is really... dumb?

Seems like the one part of the site where people can actually cause other users financial harm should have more stringent security features than the part where people discuss current events.

This line of questioning is off topic so I won't pursue it any further but, jeez. That is surprising and pretty disappointing.
