Blood Angels do very well with Elite-heavy armies. Death Company, Sanguinary Guard and our various special Dreads are quite shiny. We can also make good use of Company Vets to protect our special characters. In fact BAs really rely on special characters for Aura synergy so a Vanguard and a Supreme Command detachment really give you an army that reflects the Chapter's mightiest heroes soaring into battle alongside the 1st Company.

Depending on the competition you certainly could. Something like Grey Knights might be more competitive at that point level with a couple paladin squads and a dread.

But it certainly is doable.

idk, read the GK thread in here that it seemd that the general oppinion was that they was bad in this edition. but maybe that was for the bigger games and for competition? idk.
What i do know is that somewhere in my basment i have two 5 man squads of the old metal GK whit a single metal termi as hq, but not shure how they would hold up agasint current GK whit multiple wep options. It seems that halberd is worse then swords sadly if i understand these stats correctly..

But i realy dont want an imperium army, i want an alien army and so tau stands out to me whit their mec suits. Guess i am more a succer for RP themed forces then game winning forces.

Anyone considered running an Ork Nobz list? Thinking an army of converted Ironjawz would look fantastic using the Brutes.

honestly, it's my belief that elite armies have suffered pretty bad as a result of 8th ed

Necrons - 6000+
Eldar/DE/Harlequins- 6000+
Genestealer Cult - 2000
Currently enthralled by Blanchitsu and INQ28.

Yea I don't care too much about competitiveness I like armies that look awesome. Thats why I gravitate towards small elite armies that I can spend time on each model and not want to kill myself.

The deal with elite armies that I don't believe i've seen mentioned here is actually board control, firepower doesn't mean much if you can't take objectives and having less units means less chance of having something near the objective you draw.

So for this reason i'd suggest harlequins. They do elite extremely well, and are so fast that needing to get to an objective on the other side of the board isn't a lost cause. After seeing them in 8th if I wasn't already deep into both of my current army builds, i'd be picking up some harlequins.

That is a very valid point. Speed definitely would hurt elite armies in objective based games. I haven't played a game of 8th yet as I do not currently have a complete army but I can certainly see that being a major issue that would need to addressed. Could be one benefit of Grey Knights as well. Sure they can only gate once but with that and shunts on Interceptors can help to alleviate some of those board control problems.
