Subject: Which SM faction best suited to Leviathan Dread?

Decided I really want to buy two FW Leviathan Dreadnaughts!
The question is which Space Marine army are they going to compliment the best?

Gib... the biggest issue is the FW relic rule. You would also need to run 2 non relic LOW units to bring in 2 Relic units. Dont think your going to have the points in a typical game unless this is for Apoc type games

Ether way. for now Smurfs are probably the best sm faction as is considering they have girlyman and a ton of special characters that bump up their effectiveness compared to all the other chapters
the dread basically fluff wise doesnt fit well with white scars and raven guard (i think)
untill codexs comes out we wont know how chapter special rules will help things.

I'll argue for Sons of Medusa
Vaylund Cal is a t6 5w 2+4++ character who has both the Chapter Master rerolls and Techmarine repairs that will both benefit your Leviathan's greatly.
Imho you should grab him, Guilliman and the ultramarines will be better offensively but will cost a metric ton more and won't be able to repair your hugely expensive dreadnoughts that can degrade.
Plus Then you don't have to give them silly aquila's and blue colouring

Yep and for 160 points cheaper Cal will do most of the job that guilliman is assigned to as far as buffs is concerned whilst not overlapping AS much with the beatstick role.
It's not like you're going to need the emperor's sword for killing something when you already have two Leviathan Dreads and the medusan hammer is actually pretty much as good a weapon... which on a second read sounds quite extraordinary but seems to me to be generally true

Ok so now you guys are saying I don't have to have a LoW to take the Dreadnaught?
If your army is battle forged, no detachment may contain more relic units than it does non-relic units -- cannot see where it says I must take a Lord of War?

In terms of load out I am thinking the storm cannon array, Grav Flux bombardment and 2 heavy flammers seems like a good around setup?
