So I created an assassin Army. What do you think.? I have 16 units that start on the table so all 16 assassins can be in reserve. I played a couple games and with the culexus's -2 to pykyers abilities and my psykers seem pretty good at denying the witch do to this. The vindicares seem pretty good at the obvious and having a secondary ability to hold an objective. The eversors seem just really, really good.

Iron Hand Straken

Company Commander with boltgun and powerfist

Astropath with Laspistol

Commissar with boltgun, chainsword, and power maul

4x Callidus Assassins

Conscripts x50

Infantry squad

Infantry squad using less than full unit (single sniper rifle)

2x heavy weapons squad (mortar, heavy bolter, lascannon)


Vanguard Detachment:

Company Commmander wiith bolter and chainssword

6x eversor assassins

2x heavy weapons squads (mortar, mortar, lascannon)

I played a slightly different list with 1 less callidus assassin, and no astropath, but a priest aplatoon commander and more autocannons. One game was vs tyranids in cloak and shadows using dawn of war. The tyranids player's list was 2 flying hive tyrants, 1 shoots 1 melee, trigun, 20 genestealers, 4 ripperswarm bases, 1 tervagon, 2 mawlocks, 3 biovore unit, 3 zoanthrope unit, two 3 man hive guard units, max unit guants half devours/half fleshborers.

Turn 1
He went first killed 10 conscripts and half the heavy weapons team bases. The biovores missed putting 3 mines in front of the conscripts. The genestealers came out of the Trigun tunnel. The ripper swarm and genestealers successfully assaulted heavy weapons teams.
Me: I brought out every assassin, vindicates far from the action but onto objectives. At the end of the turn I killed both flyrants and successfully assaulted all the biovores, hiveguard units, zoanthropes and the tervagaunt. The melee flyrant I did finish off in melee.

Turn2
He assaulted another heavy weapons team and the genestealers assaulted a single culexus assassin I put in the way. His gaunts shot and killed one eversor assassin and the maulocks went back into reserve. I want point out it took 3 melee turns for the genestealers to kill the culexus which he said was a moral victory.
Me: The callidus assassins left melee and joined up against the tervagon melee after they finished up shooting mortal wounds at the zoanthropes finishing them off. My conscript blob with characters shot the trigun then triple charged the genestealers, rippers, and trigun. 2 eversors and 1 culexus shot and charged the guant unit with a eversor dieing from overwatch. I finished off the zoanthropes, both hiveguard units, the tervagon, and the guant unit.

Turn3
His mowlocs came back putting 12 mortal wounds on assassins killing an eversor assassin.
Me: I shot the mawlocs with what I could and ordered the conscripts to attack in melee. My platoon commander, 2 company commanders, a priest, a primaris psyker and straken joined the melee finishing up the genestealers, trigun, and 3 ripper bases. The assassins assaulted the mowlocks.
We called the game here since he'd be likely tabled before my next turn. I lost in total 5 heavy weapons squads, 20 conscripts, 1 culexus assassin, and 4 eversor assassins.
