Friday: the day when the work week finally surrenders to the sweet Siren's Call of the Weekend! What better way to celebrate that than a brand-new Glacial Geek Battle Report?! https://youtu.be/KoVPRsfOh6U This week my Dark Angels take on the Astra Militarum!
The orders were clear. This planet needed to be razed to the ground. The entire populous had been declared Hereticus. But the guns of the tank regiment were not firing. Their Tank Commander stood beside his tank, the dead body of the Commissar sprawled out on the ground beside him. He looked across the field at the children playing soccer and smiled.
"Sir," his adjutant injected, shaking him from his reverie, "We have confirmation of a Dark Angels Battle Barge arriving in orbit. No communications from them yet."
The Tank Commander sighed, "I don't expect we will be getting any after the Commissar's last message." He glared down at the body, a grimace still locked in his lifeless face, "Ready the tanks. Today we fight for the people of this planet."
Will the former Imperial Guardsmen be able to hold off the Dark Angels assault, or will the might of the Unforgiven prove too much for them to weather? Watch and find out!

Awesome report as always! I'm not sure why you didn't focus down that superheavy tank on the first turn instead of spreading out your firepower like you did. A couple more lascannons would have done it. Also, when you cast Mind Worm on the tank, it should have swung last in the Fight phase in your opponent's turn. As it turns out that wouldn't have made a difference, but it could have. Also, when firing a Supercharged plasma squad (like the Hellblasters), I would think it would be a good idea to roll individually to see how many guys overheat and die. Maybe both of those 1's in that one shooting attack would have been the same guy and you wouldn't have lost another, but...eh. I lost track of the command points during the game, but it seemed like both of you used more than you should have. Not trying to be a rules lawyer with all this, just some observations of possible mistakes. If I'm wrong please correct me as I'm still trying to grasp all the nuances of 8th edition. I still really enjoyed the battle and I'm sure it was fun playing with all those tanks and stuff.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

Your reaction to the Super-Heavy blowing up and taking half your force with it was great! You clearly get the 40K spirit!

You've inspired me to create a Drop Pod Devastator/Company Veterans force to act as a firebase for my Ravenwing. Its too bad a Primaris can't go in a Drop Pod, but I might stick in a Company Master to help with shooting.

Keep the reports coming - they accompany my painting/building.

Cheers

Thank you :-D

@ZergSmasher - Yeah, I probably should have focused him down ... But I figured I had reduced his effectiveness enough that I wanted to focus on the other threats as well. As for the Command Points, we kept track of them with dice so I'm almost certain we used the right amount.

@TangoTwoBravo - Hey, getting blown up by dying tanks is half the fun ;-)
