All is would really take to turn Sister of Silence into plastic Sisters of Battle is a weapons sprue. Are other Sisters fans OK with the plastic Sisters of Silence becoming the new line of Sisters of Battle?

I shall put this a succinctly and nicely as I possibly can while suppressing all my rage...

"No."

The Silence units could easily have been new units for the SoB- dedicated witch hunters that reflected the SoB identity.
Instead GW saw fit to.......

Just. No.

Milk their customers for every last cent until they rage quit the hobby?

Or until the customers figured out that they can download CAD files from the internet and 3D print an entire army for half the cost of retail?

Isn't GW already making more money from software sales on STEAM then they are selling plastic?

No. Sisters of Silence are some crap they brought in to 40k from 30k.

SoS are too cool to be lumped in with the eternal purgatory that is the Sisters of Battle armylist.

Weren't SoB originally inspired by a mixture of the old female space marines from RT and old SoS lore? I thought I remembered reading that somewhere.

No, directly from 2nd Edition.

Sisters of Battle come directly from the first edition of 40k, well before Sisters of Silence.

It's actually closer to say Sisters of Silence were inspired by a mixture of old Space Marines and Sisters of Battle.

That said I do know some people who use SoS as SoB-- they just use different heads and have some religious iconography attached.

I grow more and more tempted to use SoS models for SoB. I really like how the armor looks, but I dislike the $80 price tag per 10 girls. The new upgrade kit from Forgeworld that has dual wielding bolt pistols looks awesome though.

Sisters and Wolves 4000
~4000 points of Skaven
~2000 Kaptain Gitklaw's Grots
~2400 Kharadron Overlords
4x Imperial Knights

This. I think GW has no idea just how popular Sisters would be if they only put out plastic Sisters infantry. Hell, you could do the whole army with just two box sets.

That said, if you REALLY want an army in plastic, the SoS are still a good way to do SoB. Just gotta be able to acquire Melta weapons and maybe Heavy Flamers.

You'd need alternate heads but otherwise they'd be okay would still prefer proper SoB plastics though.

Dread to imagine the work involved in converting SoS to use heavy weapons its beyond my skill level.

I would much prefer new plastic SOB - I have some Sisters of Silence and like them.

Hopefully they will get some 40k support as well as but not instead of that which could be given to Adepta Sororitas.

Having both armies to help contrast the ever growing and overwhelming mass of Marines, Marines, Marines can not be a bad thing.

I don't think Sisters of Silence look much like Battle Sisters at all. The armor is very different, they have bald heads with pony tails, they have different weapons and giant fur cloaks. They're a closer match than Space Marines, but they're really not close at all.

I do think it's pretty ridiculous that Sisters of Silence got a set of plastic models while there are still thousands of fans begging to buy Sisters of Battle models, and have been for over a decade. I've been waiting for plastic Sisters since everything started getting plastic models in 3rd edition. This year is the 20th anniversary of the original Sisters codex. It's time.

Yeah the armor is vastly different. I'd play against Sisters of Silent Battle but wouldn't use them myself.

I think the biggest salt in the wound is that the SoS showed that GW can make proper SoB molds in Plastic now, while the Primaris marines showed that they clearly had the time and resources to push out another completely new faction.

...And yet SoBs are still left with 2nd-3rd edition metals.

Thats how I felt after Necrons.

And Tau.

And Dark Eldar.

And Grey Knights.

And Necrons again.

And Genestealer Cults

And Harlequins.

And Deathwatch.

And Adeptus Mechanicus.

Over and over GW has had the opportunity to do plastic Sisters of Battle, and each time they choose to do something else.

Has anyone really asked them face to face why?

The old answer was that the molds weren't good enough to do the detail on them properly. I think there was mention of the hair being an issue? Presumably this isn't an issue currently though, even though the SoS are mostly bald in what is probably just a weird coincidence.

Now the issue is speculatively that sisters have been mediocre sellers for such a long time that they haven't been interested in redoing the line, considering it wasted resources.

Which is funny as they so regularly go out of stock they have to pump out new models.

Yeah I honestly don't know how much longer they can go without at least trying to revamp the line, surely everything should point to it being a good idea by now? Wasn't Celestine/the triumvirate of the imperium really well received and sold well?

I think we are all hoping the next major release after primaris and DG are some new sisters.

Considering how poorly the line is supported it's a testament to the demand that they sell at all.

I'm not a fan of the Sisters of Silence at all. Does 40k really need another warrior sisterhood?

Plus IIRC if one person in a million is a psyker, than one pskyer in a million is a pariah. Which is what? One in a trillion? Pariahs are supposed to be so rare that Culexus assassins are artificially turned into pariahs.

So an army of them, especially an army that only takes one gender (so one in two trillion!) just doesn't work for me.

Besides why would you need squads or armies of them? in fluff just one is able to shut down psychic attacks. They'd be so much better as a special choice for the SoB...

As for the bigger question my guess is SoB are stuck in a loop.

"Let's make plastic SoB, give me million dollars"
"How are SoB selling now?"
"Crappy, because their models are 20 years old and metal and not in stores"
"Why should we spend a million dollars on an army with crappy sales?"

Repeat as needed.

Exactly this. Buyers buy the armies you focus on and support. No one wants to buy a 20 year old metal line for an army that has historically never been well supported and is unlikely to get meaningful new support anytime soon. GW resisted investing in updating Dark Eldar and Necrons for years, until they did and both lines became a huge success. You'd think they'd learn from those successes.

It's possible to break this loop but you need a real champion inside.

I remember reading once the Necrons were on the chopping block until someone came in with a book full of concepts for them.

Sisters seem to ahve just enough support to keep them on life support but not enough to break through back into production (barring the two special characters that came out last year).

Ah well, still doing better than Arbites.

I do remember a kinda odd rumor that sisters have been on the chopping block a couple times, but every time it gets close they get a stay of execution because someone on the PR/marketing end puts forth they need to keep some gender diversity in the lineup. So they basically toss out that is sisters go they need a new female range or army. As that costs more money then simply keeping the old barely supported lineup going, it's been path of least resistance so far.

But, again, I'd hope sisters are out of that stage by now. If they ever truely were in the first place.

You would think that someone at the company would realize that there's actual real demand.

This may sound dumb, but has anyone ever tried to do a petition or something to show GW how many people want Sisters?
